This letter was sent to us by a loyal reader and NH State Representative. It outlines some red lines that Soucy and Shurtleff should not cross. Emphasis is mine.
Taxes
Ease Taxes Not Easy Tax Implementation
Governments should work to ease taxes, not toward easy tax implementation. Why? Because Americans do not just vote with their hands at the ballot box. We also vote with our feet and moving vans.
The Integrity of the Data in Nashua’s Assessing Department Cannot be Trusted
Recently, the Nashua Assessing Office upgraded its software and uploaded new 2019 property record cards (PRC’s) for the public to access online. Unfortunately, the data from the old software doesn’t seem to have transferred to the correct fields in the new software and property cards are incorrect.
But given what he’s been saying so far, that’s EXACTLY what Bernie Sanders wants!
So Bernie gets pwned twice over. First is in this obvious one – he DOES want to take everyone’s money. Just look at his “plans” for what he wants to do! At this point, his Medicare for All / Universal Healthcare has such a large price tag, he’s been reduced to just waving his hand, … Read more
Trump Administration Put the FDA Screws to Flavored Vaping Juice Manufacturers
I’ve been harping on Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker for his knee-jerk vaping ban. Virtue signaling that has proven to be an economic win for New Hampshire. It was an overreach in my opinion so what of this? The Trump administration is putting the screws to Vape Juice makers.
New Hampshire’s Advantage Over Massachusetts Widens but for How Long?
The Boston Herald has a piece lamenting the poor performance of Massachusetts’ leaders. New Hampshire continues to dominate the region economically and strategically while the Bay State looks for ways to do worse.
NH Democrat Refuses to Say She Is Proud of Her Votes to Raise Your Taxes and Fees
I don’t spend much time on Twitter, but Merrimack State Rep Rosemarie Rung (It’s an attack!) had some thoughts to share. It was an opportunity to ask her to publicly stand behind her votes for new taxes or tax increases. She would not do it.
NH Democrat Pretends to Care About Your Tax Burden – Must Have Forgot About Her Voting Record
Who would have ever thought that left-wing Merrimack Democrat Rosemarie Rung, would claim to be a tax fighter? A defender of your hard-earned dollar. An advocate for property rights of New Hampshire taxpayers.
Democrats are Running on Creating a Recession (More Taxes, Fewer Jobs, Lower Wages)
The headline reads, “Democrats can’t wait to raise your taxes, and take your job, too.” It’s from a Washington Times article by Lewis K. Uhler and Peter J. Ferrara. Twelve words that tell you what you need to know about the Democrats running wherever you happen to be in America.
Mike Bloomberg … Benevolent Fascist
This: Not a dictator? Xi had his rubber-stamp National People’s Congress change the Chinese Constitution in 2018 to make him President for life. (Formerly Chinese dictators … oops, I mean Presidents … were term-limited (two five-year terms), with the Communist Party naming their successors.) And Xi is not just a dictator; he is a tyrannical … Read more
The 12 Taxes of Christmas (courtesy of the NH Democrat Party)
Heh! I’m a wee bit late on this but the NH GOP is doing a series on “Taxes of Christmas”. Very cute idea – and nicely done. Here’s the first two (in trying to play catch up): The first Tax of Christmas the Democrats gave to me….A Disastrous Ski Tax New Hampshire Democrats are actively … Read more
Waste-to-energy is the solution to the trash problem
Regarding the recycling center in Gilford, this whole project has been a boondoggle of the highest degree. As the entire recycling industry crashes and burns, Gilford dives in headfirst … to an EMPTY pool. Once again, government is a day late and a dollar short in providing a “solution” to a “problem” that doesn’t exist, … Read more
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! – NH City Wants to add $125.5 Million in New Public Debt
We’re not confident the local media is going to alert taxpayers of this public hearing, so we’re going to do it for them. Monday, Dec. 16th at 7 PM, the city of Nashua will hold a hearing to authorize bond sales to the tune of 125.5 million dollars.
Property Taxes – We must live within our means, and that means making hard choices.
If you are a Gilford property owner, you have just received your property tax bill. Happy? Sad? Angry? Did you notice that, while the total tax rate dropped by less than 7%, the portion of the total tax rate represented by the school tax rate increased (as it usually does) from the prior year?
Data Point – So, how high does it have to go so that “the rich will pay their fair share”?
That’s all we hear from the Democrats – the rich don’t pay their fair share. The rich don’t pay their fair share. The rich don’t pay their fair share. Shampoo, rinse, repeat ad nauseum.
Gilford: Money, Monopoly, and Mandatory – what a Mess for Trash and Recycling
BY RICK NOTKIN
MY ERROR! I failed to swap the actual writer’s name for mine – that has been corrected and I apologize to those that thought I wrote this when it was Rick Notkin. My humblest apologies. It has been corrected and bumped
******
Let’s see if I understand the situation in Gilford. The town is dissatisfied with the arrangement with Laconia for disposal of trash, so they decided to build a combined trash/recycling center at the recycling site.
Should New Hampshire Replace Every Exit Number on Every Highway Sign…?
Here’s something I didn’t know (until today). Almost every state in the US has stopped using Exit numbers on Highway signs. They’ve replaced them miles from some defined point (like a border). I thought borders were racist?
Court Tosses California Law Passed to Keep Trump off the November Ballot
Democrats in California passed a stupid law. No kidding, Steve, what’s your point? This one would keep Donald Trump off the State ballot for President if he didn’t give them his tax returns. The California State Supreme Court has some bad news for CA- Dems.
Tales from the BudComm – Should Gilford’s new Recycle Center be named “Monument to Economic Illiteracy”? Or…
“A place where Ideology reigns over money”? Or, “Scott Dunn’s Taj Mahal” (Scott Dunn being the Town Administrator and the main pusher for Gilford’s new Recycle Center / Transfer Station. Sigh…and now the bill has has come due. But not the one you might think. In the beginning, it sounded OK – time to leave … Read more
