Bernie and the DNC are One and the Same, Says DNC Chair Tom Perez

Tom Perez DNC Chair

Now, we all know the Bernie bro’s have been claiming there is an “ideological divide” between Bernie and the DNC. For the Bernie bro’s it’s David and Goliath. It’s independent versus party loyalist. It is the socialist Senator from Vermont against the establishment world.

But Bernie and the DNC are one and the same.  That is what Tom Perez Chair of the DNC says.

Tom Tells it as he sees it

Speaking with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, DNC Chair Tom Perez says… not so much Bernie Bro’s. Perez maintains there is no “ideological divide.”  The party’s mainstream is now Bernie’s “democratic socialism.”  Those are not my words, that’s Tom Perez, Chair of the DNC’s position.

Perez said:
“Well, you know, I think the real thing that folks understand is that what unites us far exceeds what our differences are. There’s no ideological divide on the need to ensure that people with preexisting conditions keep their health care… about the need to ensure we hold pharmaceutical companies accountable so that we can lower the cost of prescription drugs… on the need to make sure that one good job should be enough. The differences between the Democratic Party candidates and Donald Trump, whoever the nominee is, are 100%.”

Bernie is

Has Bernie been sufficiently asked about his views? He has views that aren’t just “democratic” socialist. Bernie has some views that are all-in communist. And Bernie is being praised for his consistency in his ideology. So, which of Bernie’s views, if any, have changed?

Paul Sperry wrote an article in the New York Post back in 2016.  In it he highlights some of Bernie’s more collectivist and pro-communist beliefs. He begins the piece this way:

“Mainstreaming Sanders requires whitewashing his radical pro-communist past. It won’t be easy to do… If Sanders were vying for a Cabinet post, he’d never pass an FBI background check. There’d be too many subversive red flags popping up in his file. He was a communist collaborator during the height of the Cold War.”

Here’s a summary of what Sperry noted in his article:

In 1964 while attending the University of Chicago, Sanders joins the Young People’s Socialist League. For those not familiar that’s the youth wing of the Socialist Party USA. He had involvement in organizing the United Packinghouse Workers Union. The group is a communist front organization under investigation by the House Committee on Un-American Activities at that time. After graduating, Bernie went to Vermont. He was there to head up the American People’s History Society (APHS). The group is a Marxist propaganda outfit.

The American People’s History Society under Bernie went to producing a documentary. It was a glowing work on the life of socialist revolutionary Eugene Debs. Debs went to jail for espionage during the Red Scare. The Bolsheviks call him “America’s Greatest Marxist.” As of 2016, Sanders had a photo of Debs in his Senate office.
In the 1970s, Sanders went on to start the Liberty Union Party (LUP). The LUP calls for the nationalization of all US banks and the public takeover of all private utility companies.

Later Bernie

Bernie was the mayor of Burlington, Vt. As mayor he led implementation of restrictions on property rights for landlords, setting of price controls and raising property taxes… to pay for communal land trusts. In 1985, Bernie went to Managua to celebrate the “heroic revolution.” The revolution brought to power the Marxist-Leninist Sandinista government. He also was guilty of violating America’s anti-communist policy by writing a letter to the Sandinistas. In the letter he was denouncing the Reagan administration’s backing of the Contra rebels.

Sanders took part in lobbying the government to end the proxy war. He urged Burlington to adopt Managua as a sister city. He even issued an invitation to Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega to visit. The much-touted “honeymoon” in the USSR was actually a visit to a Soviet “sister city” to Burlington. The occurrence was shortly after his marriage. 1989, right before the U.S. won the Cold War, Bernie gave an address to the US Peace Council. The group is a known front for the Communist Party USA.

Bernie’s policies

Bernie’s policies are taken from what he admires from the former Soviet Union, Cuba, Nicaragua, and all of the other places where socialism has failed.  The left’s favorite spin is socialism hasn’t been “properly implemented”.

Bernie wants to:

Nationalize healthcare… because Obamacare works so well. He wants to put drug companies out of business because there is no need of their products. Bernie wants to break up big banks because big government was wrong to form them in the first place. The Democrats want to control the energy industry because it allows them to control every household through taxation and regulation. It gives them absolute control of the tools of production.

Bernie wants to give out “free” college tuition because that buys votes. As a side benefit it devalues education. It also places the education lobby firmly in one political pocket. He wants a “living wage” because he again is buying votes. There is no such thing as a living wage. That term has as many definitions as there are people to define it. That’s fair, right? The Democrat Party wants guaranteed housing and jobs through big government projects. This comes dangerously close to admitting they want a slave labor system.

How will he pay for it? Taxes, taxes, taxes, lots of them on everyone.

The rich” will pay first — at a 90% or more tax rate. And of course those most able to move will not do so to escape confiscatory taxation, right? Bernie want to impose a “Speculation” tax on Wall Street trades. This makes no sense. Investors risk their capital. They demand a return on their money or they will not invest. If you make investment unprofitable the economy stops growing. Green New Deal-style “carbon” tax on pretty much everything is high on the Democrat list of taxes. This is using taxation to control people’s behavior. This is bad policy and worse economics.

Tom Perez is saying that the Democratic Party supports these positions. He says that there is “no ideological divide” between mainstream Democrats and Bernie. It looks more and more like that’s exactly true. The time to choose a direction for the nation is the election of 2020. What are your values and principles?

Just asking

Should we nationalize healthcare? Has government shown itself capable of accepting the responsibility? Did it follow through on the Obamacare promises? If Bernie puts drug companies out of business where are you going to get your meds? Will Congress just pass a law saying you have no illness? Congratulations we heal you?

It was the government who made the mega banks with Dodd-Frank. Now Bernie’s bigger government is going to fix it what big government broke in the first place? The government already controls the energy industry. They use it as a tax collection agency. What more can big government do?

If you give free college tuition what value does the education acquired actually have? Do you really think we buy intelligence? When everyone is guaranteed a living wage, who exactly gets to decide what that is? No one has to work to receive a living wage why would anyone work? Why does that make sense to anyone? Let’s assume government guarantees housing and jobs through big government projects. Exactly how is that different from slavery and plantation living? Yup, Bernie and the DNC are one and the same. Vote early, vote often.
