I saw this story a half hour ago and was going to skip writing about the Puerto Rican Governor situation, as none of it really matters. The New Progressive Party will remain in power in Puerto Rico, the island that is so saddled with debt the United States still refuses to allow it incorporation as … Read more
Remember Baghdad Bob? The Iraqi information minister during second Iraq War who became famous for his absurd pronouncements of Iraqi military triumphs in the face of one abject defeat after another. Ever wonder what happened to him? Well I have found him. He is alive and well and “covering politics” for WMUR: “Tax equity”. That … Read more
This: Get it? The news, according to #FatLazyAndBiased at WMUR, is that the GOP are trying to make political hay out of Maggie employing two felons, not Maggie employing two felons. Here is how the Hill, hardly a right-wing media source, covered it: A second ex-aide to Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) has been charged in connection with … Read more
It goes without saying that posting about the #FakeNews peddled by what passes as “press” in New Hampshire would be an all-day, every-day job. Still it’s worth calling them out as much as possible. So this from two of New Hampshire’s foremost fake-reporters: and this: The “articles” are virtually identical, and are actually little more … Read more
Yesterday on WMUR’s Close Up Steve Negron formally announced his intention to challenge Incumbent Democrat DC Insider Ann Kuster to a rematch. Steve (whom GraniteGrok endorsed for the 2018 race) but lost the general election says “we’re getting the band back together.”
Yesterday, today, and I’m betting tomorrow as well, WMURis boasting that that for SIX HOURS straight they are going to cover the weather story that “snow is falling”. From 6am to noon, nothing but snow. Snow, snow, snow. Like as if we hadn’t already been told that a big storm was coming for several days? … Read more
On yesterday’s WMUR News9 at 5pm, they ran a piece on the new legislators, newly elected on November 6th, as they were going through their 3 day State House orientation:
Like the political junkie I am, I watched it…and went “wait…what?” Diversity? Methinks WMUR’s Adam Sexton went tilt on “diversity”.

Steve Negron Wins Second Congressional District Debate
Nashua, NH – Steve Negron, a U.S. Air Force veteran and small business owner, declared victory after tonight’s 2nd Congressional District debate and issued the following statement:
“The contrast between the vision I put forth this evening and the failed record of Congresswoman Ann Kuster couldn’t be clearer. Where she has worked to grow government and increase taxes, I have fought to cut them. It is vital that we Republicans nominate a conservative who can boldly articulate our message if we are going to defeat her.
The WMUR Debate is Friday night.
“Get them while they last! Passes for the Negron For Congress Debate Watch Party on Friday night hosted at Saint Anselm college! If interested please RSVP with tyler@teamnegron.com .”

Kevin Landrigan also reports some appreciative praise from Ray Buckley.
“I wish Jeanie well. Only someone who has served as state party chair can appreciate the challenges and sacrifices one makes to do the job,” Buckley said.
It is utterly amazing to me how fast someone can become Mother Teresa-like from just being the Devil Incarnate when a Republican resigns. It seems that the Democrats start to pine for those who have left a Republican position or the political stage (e.g., both Bushes, Romney, even Nixon (to a degree)) and hold them up as “models” to be followed because the latest Republican resident of a given position has now assumed the hateful form with horns, tail, and a pitchfork demeanor. Or that guy with the funny mustache as is now being bandied about because the Democrats love using little children as political pawns.

WMUR is reporting that Weare, NH House Rep Neal Kurk will not seek a 17th term.
Kurk, a fiscal watchdog and privacy hawk, is in his 16th term in the House, and according to several sources, has decided not to seek a 17th term in 2018. During many of those terms, Kurk chaired the House’s most powerful committee, which plays a huge role in the development of the state budget and has significant input on all fiscal matters.
WMUR has a Tweet-up about an episode of chronicle on Tiny Houses. “It’s Everything you need in 300 square feet.” Sure, except for a few thousand more square feet.
No, I’m not opposed to anyone choosing to live like this. Whatever works for you. And hey, maybe it’s an excellent alternative to renting if you rent one or buying if you buy. It certainly adds a whole new dimension to the phrase “starter house.”
Sosnik notes that many Republicans are more concerned about losing in a primary than a general election, which makes compromise harder.
That’s a quote from Politico on a piece that a Democrat strategy claiming that the Democrat Party is in decline (especially after Obama). The thrust of it, given the entire piece, is that Republicans are not worried about the Democrats – but are worried about what their base is thinking about them. Now contrast that with this:
Will the Republican establishment stop fighting with their base and just start ignoring them?
from James Pindell at WMUR’s Political Scoop. Now, part of Pindell’s job (or seemingly, most journalists these days) are to either act as Democrat mouthpieces (like in “how much of the Gosnell killing-aborted-but-born-alive-babies murder trial? Or in MSNBC’s “journalists” in toeing the WH line concerning Clinton’s “What does it matter now?” with Benghazi?). So Politico is outright saying that politicians are paying more attention to their base for re-election, and WMUR is say “Hey Establishment Republicans – blow off your base“? Such a dichotomy of awareness of the politics are playing: complete opposites.
The Dems here in NH kept the corner office, captured the Exec. Council, “waved” the House and came within two of a majority in the Senate. Sosnik may be right in that without Obama and his machine, Doom might be the operative word on the Left. But how much does WMUR’s Pindell believe the Establishment Rs can afford to lose of their disaffected base and still beat the Dems in the next election?
I’m not even sure that James Pindell, Chuck Douglas, and Drew Cline were even at the same rally I was from reading their criticism (one at the WMUR site, two Union Leader Op-Eds) – or even bothered to watched the videos that were up at several sites. Each of them decided to tear the folks apart that stood up for their beliefs without seeing what was, to me, the obvious. In fact, I’m not even sure they even saw the obvious reason why 600 folks turned out to participate, volunteers doing the grunt work necessary to put on such an event, and the dozen or so speakers up at the podium. Yes, when you put yourself out in public, this is what happens – others will take pot shots at you, at the rally, or the issue for a variety of reasons: their sense of “professionalism”, their overarching specialized knowledge has been “violated”, their standing within their own specialized communities “demands” they take a stand, or they decided to reject the perceived issue out of hand as “being without merit”. None of them seem to have caught the intense sense of importance of the actual subject to the speakers and the attendees.
Or, to put it simply, wielding a hatchet just because they have an audience to impress or a thinly veiled purpose that may be getting set for the future. Or both.
Honor Your Oath. It wasn’t about journalists worried about column inches, punctuation, and delicately chosen words and sentence structure; it is about keeping a promise. It wasn’t about case law, or legal briefs, or court battles (even if from a former Supreme Court Justice); it is about a man and the importance of his word. It was not about bright lights, teleprompters, self-absorption, politics, or even the crowd; it is about judging a man and his bond. It wasn’t about guns or self-defense or “Stand Your Ground” (although that’s all these three seemingly heard), it wasn’t about Right or Left; it is about answering the question “Do we trust this person when their actions do not match that Oath”?
I was cruising my news-reader and came across this story from WMUR, News 9 Manchester NH.
Not long after that, (within the same hour) only slightly later chronologically in the news feed, we see this content posted by WMUR…
When you try to link to the first story, about both a Republican and a Democrat in hot water…that story no longer exists. It was spiked. All we have left are Stella and the fingerprints from a story about some Democrat we can no longer find.

Apparently, Rep Janice Schmidt does not like it when her words boomerang back wildly placing her on an embarrassingly exposed defense.
My post on Rep Schmidt’s stating “All murders aren’t the same” has gotten her unwanted attention and wedged her into a bind.
WMUR’s Political Director James Pindell picked up on it and added her into “…the long Hall of Shame for dumb comments by New Hampshire representatives over the years for comments…”. Burn.
Oh, what to do, Jan? Why, come up with a specious spot of strategery to get out of this miasma, of course!

I am in receipt of your email and, as of yesterday, your snail mail letter. In order to show good faith in this matter, I have a question for you. From your hard copy letter (I took the liberty of scanning it in as the quality of the PDF attachment to your email was of such low quality, I scarcely took it seriously; given the size of the Hearst Corporation, it must simply have been an off day for the poor IT tech you called in for rectification), I would ask that you would turn your attention to this snippet:
I am but a simple man (you may ask my critics for confirmation of this fact) so I wish to address one thing from your letter at a time. If you would, Ms. Dietrick, please forward to me one or more examples of the flyers you have singled out for infringement for my inspection. I have no problem in reworking them so as to remove any WMUR logo (presented here for illustration only to ensure we are both communicating and being precise concerning the artwork of your letter) that may be present; I only wish to careful and accurate:
