Union Leader takes Aim at Free Staters

The Manchester Police Department is not a fan of the Free State Project, and has not kept it a secret. More often than not, the Free Staters have been known to ‘best’ the MPD in Court for violation of their rights. MPD now asks all applicants “are you now, or have you ever been a … Read more

The Culture Wars Are Here in NH & the Union Leader Buys In!

The Culture Wars Are Here in NH! And the Union Leader Buys In. A recent post by this writer called attention to the ridiculous and insulting reports that the left-wing Democrat Governor of Wisconsin was planning to refer to the state’s Christmas Tree its “Holiday Tree.” So, we now see in today’s Union Leader (Nov. … Read more

WaPo: Biden’s War Story Almost Entirely False

Former Vice President Biden making gaffes is certainly nothing new to the #FITN scene.  His latest one is the most troubling of all.  According to the Washington Post (of all places) it’s almost entirely false. HANOVER – Joe Biden painted a vivid scene for the 400 people packed into a college meeting hall. A four-star … Read more

NH Constitution

Er, WHICH Constitution is he talking about?

Sometimes when high stakes things happen, things AREN’T always quite written as it should be.  Thus, I smiled when I saw this tweet: .@GovChrisSununu vetoes all three gun control bills not addressing specifics of any says laws now "well-crafted" and NH 2nd Amendment stronger than in U.S. Constitution. #nhpolitics — Kevin Landrigan (@KlandriganUL) August 9, … Read more

OP-ED: Dear Mr. Solomon, We Won’t Be Silenced

David Solomon of the Union Leader wrote an opinion piece that has many shaking their heads: The House has no voting sessions scheduled this week, which is probably a good thing, since a cooling-off period is definitely in order. In this age of hyper-partisanship, acrimonious debate is hardly big news, but things really went off … Read more

The New Hampshire Union Leader Endorses Steve Negron in CD-2

New Hampshire’s largest newspaper, the New Hampshire Union Leader, has endorsed Rep. Steve Negron in the Congressional District 2 Republican Primary.

The first-term representative from Nashua is relentlessly cheery, his friendliness and optimism a welcome antidote to the anger and frustration permeating modern politics. Negron is bringing a positive, confident conservative message to the race for Congress in New Hampshire’s Second District. The theme of his campaign is “Restore American Confidence,” and he has earned our endorsement.

GrokEndorsement Executive Council, District 4. This is Very Impressive!

Grok Endorsement EC4To date, we have only issued one endorsement: Steve Negron running to represent New Hampshire from NH’s Second Congressional District (“CD-2”).  Today, we add another.

While all writers have the freedom to endorse anyone they want as individuals, official GraniteGrok endorsements require a majority of all of the writers voting (not everyone votes).  While we may all “read” the same on the issues, we do vary on candidates and sometimes “enthusiastically” (behind closed email/Slack doors). Most of our endorsements are contested – some of them highly so. As the title of this post implies, the result is impressive as all of the following writers at GraniteGrok.com have cast their ballot for one person (alphabetical order):

Kevin Landrigan of the Union Leader is blowing it out his other pie-hole – No, it didn’t

Kevin Landrigan“Thanks, Skip. That should have gone up a while ago but let me know if you’re still seeing an old version.”

Ayup. Er, no.  That was Trent Spiner, Executive Editor of the Union Leader telling me that, like in Animal House, ALL IS WELL! Nothing to see here….move along. It went up a while ago. Again, nope. I started to get that feeling someone was trying to do a stonewall stand. Open and transparent?  If that were true, the following didn’t have to be written:

Kevin Landrigan of the Union Leader is blowing it out his other pie-hole – Initial Response….and the Retort

Kevin Landrigan“He’s got Rand Paul, the federal Gun Owners of America, and “the leaders of GraniteGrok” on his side.

Some of you already know the outcome of the Union Leader claiming, with no basis whatsoever, that “leaders of GraniteGrok” were already behind Andy Sanborn in the NH CD-1.  That would be me and as I said here, that’s an assumption that Kevin Landrigan, crack political reporter with decades of experience, made.  We all know what Ass-u-me means, don’t we?

For those that don’t, let me put out the email trail.

Kevin Landrigan of the Union Leader is blowing it out his other pie-hole – The Demand

“He’s got Rand Paul, the federal Gun Owners of America, and leader of GraniteGrok on his side.

Well, of course I wasn’t going to let this go by the boards.  Nor am I the type to be silent.  So you do know what I did, right? Of course you do: I sent an email to both Kevin Landrigan and Trent Spiner (the Executive Editor of the Union Leader) (emphasis mine):

Kevin Landrigan, you nor anyone else from the Union Leader, ever contacted me for this deliberatively false statement. I hereby demand a retraction from you and the Union leader both as a separate post on your front page as well as a retraction within the article itself.

Kevin Landrigan of the Union Leader is blowing it out his other pie-hole

Update: I just left a scathing vmail for the UL head honcho and Publisher, Joe McQuaid demanding retractions on the UL front page, within Landrigan’s article, and in their print edition.  Let’s see what happens.
Update 2: From Trent Spiner, Exec. Editor, UL @ 1:36pm (my email was at 9:26am) – “…we certainly understand you have not endorsed this cycle and I appreciate you bringing the issue to my attention. We will be issuing a correction shortly”.  I’m still waiting for it…

On another meeting I DIDN’T go to – Kevin Landrigan goes with the “rotten peeps, those GOPers are” with his headline

Kevin LandriganQuick Thought:

NH GOP members exclude delegate from convention, take no action on her pro-gay-rights proposals
By KEVIN LANDRIGAN

Yes, I slap them around when it is needful – but I’ll go the other way when needed as well. The NH GOP did no such thing as exclude a delegate from the NH GOP Convention yesterday. So he is one of two three four things:

  • He’s an outright liar
  • He’s fishing for clickbait
  • He’s wishing to cast aspersions of guilt amongst the Union Leader readership
  • He’s lazy.

Or all four.  He’s been around NH politics a long, LONG time – he knows better than to do this unless he was intent on making trouble where none exists. Yet, he decided to take a fact and make it an unfact: what’s a delegate by the rules?

New Hampshire Judges Must Have Skipped the 5th Grade

There is an outstanding editorial by Ian Underwood in the Manchester Union Leader. Here’s a taste. The state constitution says only four things about schooling. First, that: “it shall be the duty of the legislators and magistrates, (…) to cherish the interest of literature and the sciences, and all seminaries and public schools.” Second, that … Read more
