[With my apologies, GrokTALK! will be back next week!] Over twenty years ago, when I was beginning to get my new political legs under me, one of the first blog sites I frequented that seemed to align with my burgeoning worldview was Flopping Aces. That and Townhall.com before it became Townhall (I can’t recall its … Read more
In 1957, President Dwight D. Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas National Guard to aid in the protection of nine black children attending a previously all white High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Bill Clinton’s hometown became a flashpoint for desegregation in the South. The governor had called up the Arkansas National Guard to stop the desegregation. … Read more
Whenever anyone references our Democracy, especially on social media, someone, typically several of them, feels compelled to remind anyone in range that we live in a Republic, with good reason. No one is taught that. You have to learn it on your own. You also must learn that it is a Federal Republic, and everything … Read more
I have always expressed concern over the environmental impact of so-called green energy solutions: the carbon footprints, emissions offshoring, cost, inability to compete without taxpayer support, high cost, and the pressure they put on electricity prices. Then there’s the environmental end-of-life costs and the industry and government indifference to creating EOL green superfund sites on … Read more
Rather than stand on its own merits and create an identity of its own, Maine is working feverishly to be the California of the East Coast. The Progressives who are clustered in the big cities are spending money they don’t have and threatening to lose federal funds by defying Washington edicts. Maine does not have … Read more
The issue of California secession isn’t going away. Last week, the California secretary of state approved a new ballot measure on secession for the signature gathering phase of the initiative process. If activists are able to collect enough signatures by late July, voters in 2028 will be able to vote yes or no to the … Read more
Woke Greens have been pushing us toward an energy apocalypse, and New Hampshire has not been immune. Sununu was pro-wind, which got us involved with the Gulf of Maine Offshore Wind project developers and greenwashers love, but no one else. There are, arguably, a lot of people who don’t know enough to know it is … Read more
When you think the atmosphere in California can’t get any worse, the Moss Power Plant battery storage, south of San Francisco, goes up in flames AGAIN. The original structure was first built by the infamous utility PG&E, who committed the largest mass homicide by a corporation in 2018, so this all seems par for the … Read more
And Some Lessons In FAFO Nowadays, with over half of the US States (29, in fact) having Constitutional Carry with just shy of 500 MILLION firearms in their private possession, you’d think that even someone with a less-than-stellar belief that stealing is wrong would start to understand that the odds aren’t in their favor. That … Read more
Practically every time a disaster strikes in the United States, the Corporate Media blames it on climate change. This short video from our friends at Gorilla Science refute the claim that climate change is behind the on-going California wildfires using data from the U.S. Government: We’d like to thank Hal Shurtleff for the content. As a … Read more
The fires in California are not caused by wind. The fires needed a spark. The world is watching as: “the world’s largest aerial firefighting fleet.” Gov. Newsom …fights to defeat the California fires, which some say were likely caused by “line slapping” or neglected utilities. I am inclined to question the oversight of California’s public utilities … Read more
And now comes the last two stages of an avoidable political catastrophe: the “search for the guilty parties” and “the reward of non-contributors.” (Adopted from the six stages of an engineering project – it’s on the web.) We don’t know how the fires started. It could have been lightning: it’s been dry in California lately. … Read more
The Soros-funded social-justice experiment of recruiting progressive prosecutors who function more as a second phalanx of defense attorneys has crashed in flames. California’s Proposal 36 was supported by more than 70% of voters and reversed these ill-considered policies to correct course for public safety. Such strong support in such a blue state reveals the profound … Read more
The two sides of this latest American disaster are amazing when taken separately, and that is difficult to do with such devastation. California is such a beautiful state and probably the most diverse and rich in natural offerings, including the ocean, mountains, rich agricultural regions, and vineyards. Still, when mother nature or man-made error occurs, … Read more
California’s governor is a nuisance. That’s why I call him Gavin Nuisance. He is and has been one of the biggest dangers to California, but Left-Coasters keep electing him. They can’t all be co-dependent. Of course, we only need 50%+1, right? Democracy. Governor Newsom (that’s for Google) has declared a state of emergency, not over … Read more
One of the inconvenient truths of the Transgender Agenda is that before you can be transgender, you have to be a boy. Those are the rules I’ve read. The Gaystapo/Rainbow Mafia has been quite clear about this. You have to be born into a boy’s body. A girl can’t identify as a transgirl; that would … Read more
The saying goes, “As goes California, so goes the nation.” If this is true, we better have a gut check soon, as California is in a downward spiral. The state has been mismanaged and is on the wrong moral compass heading. It is a geographically diverse state with incredible beauty and resources. Yet, it is … Read more
Vermont tied its increasingly rickety wagon to California’s air quality standards for motor vehicles. Advanced Clean Cars II (ACCII) “requires manufacturers to produce vehicles certified to increasingly more stringent emission categories, according to schedules based on vehicle fleet emission averages for each manufacturer.“ Vermont legislators handed authority over Vermonters to wingnuts in California and they … Read more
If you are thinking about pursuing healthcare jobs in California, you will need a high tolerance for rules, regulations, car theft, taxes, sidewalk poop, tyrannical bureaucracies, the homeless, crime, discarded needles, and screeching liberal harpies. Oh, and hunger-like affection for carcinogens, hypoxia, and microplastics. Public Health officials in several Left-Coast counties have reinstituted mask mandate, … Read more
California bleeds money, so it needs jackpot justice to line the bottomless pit into which it tosses taxpayer dollars. Exxon-Mobile is a big target that should be hard to miss, but the Left Coast’s environmental action has consistently failed to deliver. Exxon-Mobile has better lawyers and arguments but addiction doesn’t countenance common sense so Cali … Read more
