Living in a state where every legislative action goes against one’s core ethical foundation is quite hard: few people are more aware of this than Free Staters. I, for example, have lived in NYC, NJ, Chicago, Boulder, and Boston. Every day I would awaken to headlines championing some oppressive legislation, which directly conflicted with my fundamental ethical belief in each person’s self-ownership.

Note to Leftist Economic Illiterates – A Government Distorted Market is NOT a Free Market
The Left continues to try and redefine our common language out from underneath us in order to push an Agenda. In this case, it’s about getting us to stop driving and to rely upon on the Government to provide transport.
Unintended Consequences
Earlier this year, the Burlington Vt. City Council bought into the defund police movement and jumped in with both feet. Something, however, did not go as expected.
How to Blow an Anti-Christmas-Anti-Religionists Mind This “Holiday” Season …
There are a ton of liberal, Progressive, Secularists out there that just HATE the idea of being wished a “Merry Christmas.” Certainly, one of them is being reminded that there are also a ton of Christians out there that truly celebrate the season for more than the whole consumer-based Santa Claus, presents, lights part.
A Holly Jolly Christmas with a Touch of Despondency
The Fox News Christmas Tree was set afire early this morning. The blaze was spectacular. My response has been distressing and demoralizing. Where is my beloved country going? A Christmas Tree? An honored tradition? A symbol of love and redemption? Have we no soul left? What could the motive possibly be? Maybe it was meant … Read more
Notable Quote – The State as Borg
The totalitarian state aims at obliterating all distinctions between itself and the citizenry (society) by penetrating and controlling every aspect of organized life. -Richard Pipes (Communism: A History)
Blast from the Past – Apropos Given What the Biden / Sanders “Build Back Better” Catastrophe wants to Do
GraniteGrok now has well over 44,000 posts in its archive – and I have written well over 16,000 of them and Steve is credited with an almost as large number as well. Why do I bring this up?
State University Diversity Center Gathers to Debate How to “Cancel” Thanksgiving
I never graduated from the University of Buffalo, but now I am happy to say I did not. The Universities Intercultural and Diversity Center (never had one when I was there 40 years ago) is trying to cancel Thanksgiving.
We Americans Used to Not Need Much Government but Progressives Screwed Us Over
“Here in America you can see how slightly a people needs to be governed… Here are governments, but no rulers – governors, but they are clerks.
Somedays It Feels a Lot Like This…
Nitzakhon took over the meme thing, and that’s good. They seem more committed to it than I ever was, so the experience is better for the readers. That’s the goal. But I still troll the digital spheres for memes, and this one (above) struck me as, well, relevant.
Beware: Federal Tax Hikes Will Push Wealthy Americans Overseas
Congress has begun its year-end sprint, and the debate over rising taxes is as hot as ever.
Crucial to President Biden’s $3.5 trillion agenda is a wide range of tax penalties targeting the wealthy, broadly defined as households with incomes over $400,000 (“the usual targets”).
“It’s a Tricky Business, This Thing the Political Left Calls, ‘Progress.'”
Even the casual observer can’t help but notice that the progressive’s version of progress looks a lot like that dreaded backwardness of which they accuse everyone else.
Survey: “Which States Are Best for Progressives Dissatisfied with the Direction of New Hampshire?”
While progressives may broadly agree on their dissatisfaction with the libertarian-conservative direction of New Hampshire, there is considerable disagreement over which of the 49 other states would best match their values.
CARTOON: The Oldest Sacrifice Made Anew
My latest cartoon. Next week I’ll probably re-run something from “a while ago” as – at $150 a pop – it’s starting to make a dent in the budget.
Announcing “The Progressive State Project” – Find ‘Your’ Forever Home
New Hampshire progressives have been complaining recently (and loudly) about all the successful “liberty” initiatives in New Hampshire. The problem, as they see it, is that New Hampshire has taken a hard turn right!
Notable Quote – No, we’re “not all that” as some think they are
“So the great lesson of humility which science teaches us, that we can never be omnipotent and omniscient, is the same as the lesson of all great religions: man is not and never will be the god before whom we must bow down.”
Awe, A Certain Tuftonboro Teacher (Brian Bloomer) did have the Sads yesterday.
But we will never know what happened to the Progressive dude who brought this unto himself. Only way we’ll know is to keep checking SAU46’s roster to see if his name is still on it. Steve broke the story that Brian Bloomer, a fifth grade teacher at the Tuftonboro Central School, decided to go on … Read more
Laconia Mayor Hosmer cavorting with the highly Progressive Kent Street Coalition? Non-Partisan, is he? Ha!
I found the Tuesday editorial here in the Daily Sun regarding the upcoming “series of special events designed to bring the community together” featuring, among others, Mayor Hosmer, to be quite rich.
Notable Quote – No, it wasn’t Slavery that broke Black families; it was White Progressives with “good intentions” that did
Empirical evidence has likewise seldom been mentioned by those who make a common claim, advanced by [Nicholas] Kristof among many others, that “Slavery and post-slavery oppression left a legacy of broken families” among blacks. But the plain fact is that the proportion of black children living with only one parent was never as great during … Read more
The New Collectivism: Mandatory Participation in The Mental Illness of Others
There’s a new definition for collectivism. ‘Wokeness Means Forcing Everyone To Live Inside The Prison Of Mental Illness.’ Yeah, I’m enjoying this “free” sample of Cultural Marxism.
