Upcoming Obama Portsmouth Visit Angers Parents -Schools Will Have To Close [Updated]

Obama visit to Portsmouth NH will cause schools to closePortsmouth has announced that it will cancel school on Friday to accommodate President Obama’s visit.  The presence of dear leader will clog up traffic, block roads, and result in building closures so the district has thrown in the towel.  They will have to make the day up In May.

This is not a decision in a vacuum.  When kids stay home adults have to rearrange their lives.  Work, appointments, the added cost for unplanned day care if they can’t change plans or skip work when Obama stops buy to campaign, it all adds up.  Not that Obama gives a damn.  His campaign isn’t going to pay for any of the other costs his campaign appearances force upon local tax-payers.  Campaign appearances….paid for by taxpayers.

Has anyone estimated how much the campaign stop will cost the city of Portsmouth?

How About That “Non-Existent Voter Fraud” Meme…or something

Donna Schlachman writing an opinion piece in Seacoast Online, says she asked New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner (last year) about voter fraud and….

I learned that actual cases of fraud are practically non-existent. Even last year’s staged attempt to prove that people can vote illegally in N.H. was unsuccessful. It turns out that the risk of denying legitimate voters their right to cast a ballot is far greater than the risk of someone voting here who does not live here.

Well guess what?  If the State refused to charge anyone with burglary, actual cases of that would be non-existent as well.

Marshall ‘Lee’ Quandt Want’s To Be The Next Republican Speaker of the NH House…

Rumor has it that Marshall ‘Lee’ Quandt want’s to be the next Republican Speaker of the New Hampshire House……which is a huge problem, because Lee Quandt is not exactly a Republican to begin with.

Despite that barrier, and a public opposition to liberty, the scuttlebutt is that RINO Marshall ‘Lee’ Quandt still thinks he’d make a great speaker of the House, and he is already trying to build a coalition, and publicly endorsing other House Republican candidates who have told him they would back his move once the House meets to choose the next Speaker.

This is disturbing for several reasons.

Stingy Old People Who Are Stupid

I can only guess how Democrat State Senate candidate Lee Nyquist’s campaign manger reacted to Clint Eastwood’s speech at the Republican National Convention.  That campaign manager, Kevin Hodges, (batting coach for the New Hampshire Democrat party), had nothing kind to say about Republicans long before his invocation to beat them with a bat; particularity those who are as old as Clint Eastwood who is eighty-two.  And Eastwood’s party registration, whatever it may be, is of no consequence.  To Kevin ‘Awesome Cool Hodges’ he is probably just another one of those..

“…stingy old people who are stupid.”

That was his opinion of Republicans in the New Hampshire House back in April 2010, not long before his cool and awesome self got benched by the voters.  But he’s back, helping Democrat Lee Nyquist run on a campaign to ‘Bring Civility back to Concord,’  which is extremely humorous considering Nyquist can’t even bring civility to his own campaign.

There Are No Republicans For Obama

There are no Republicans for ObamaBack in 2008, and I may have shared this story before, I was discussing with a longtime friend my conclusion that then candidate John McCain was not really a ‘Republican.’  He could not understand why so I asked my baptist minister friend…”there are a lot of ‘interpretations’ of Christianity, and for the most part each is reasonably accepting of the others…but isn’t there a point at which what it is they are “practicing” is no longer Christianity?”  He said yes.  I said, “OK, same with being a “Republican.”

Believing in abortion, global warming, stifling paid political speech (to name a few) and…most importantly, the very strong belief that the federal government must regulate things from a central location, to mandate policy to the states and the people from on high….that is what progressives and socialists do, no matter what they call themselves.  That is not what it means to be a Republican.  We have a different party for people who think that way.  They are called Democrats.

Anyone Dissapointed That Annie Kuster Didn’t Ask Maggie Hassan to Drop Out?

Ann McLane Kuster - Supported by Anti-Israel J Street

It didn’t take long.  Congressional candidate Ann McLane Kuster (I call her McKluster) expressed her disappointment at Charlie Bass for having better things to do than jump in to the circular firing squad against Todd Aikn, of Missouri.

“In New Hampshire, Annie Kuster rapped one of Democrats’ top targets, GOP Rep. Charlie Bass, saying she was ‘‘disappointed’’ Bass hadn’t yet called for Akin to leave the Senate race.”

Like most desperate Democrats with no coat tails to ride in on, McKluster took out the rhetorical bat against her Republican opponent, Charlie Bass.  It is, after all, his responsibility as a congressman to denounce everything any other Republican does (or says, or can be said to be thinking…).   So by extension, where is it I can find candidate McKlusters call for Maggie Hassan to drop out of the Governors Race.

It’s Time For A Smell Test (Update and Bumped – Democrats spent 1.5 million to elect Akin)

A Republican Candidate for the US Senate in Missouri said something stupid the other day.

“It seems to me, first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” he said.

Akin said later, in a statement, that he “misspoke,” claiming that his comments did not “reflect the deep empathy I hold for the thousands of women who are raped and abused every year.”

He’s referring to the frequency (infrequency) of unwanted pregnancies from rape, measured against his opposition to abortion.

OK.  But it sounded really stupid the first time around.

NH Democrat Policies On Voter ID and Domicile Still Matter…Here’s Why. (Part 2)

Back in 2000, as many as 1700 UNH students illegally registered to vote in Durham, New Hampshire, and very likely voted here illegally as well.   We know this because in 2001 more than a few UNH students requested that they be removed from the voter checklist in writing, using uncharacteristically similar wording, as if prompted to do so by someone in New Hampshire who did not want to prosecute them, so they could “properly register in their own home towns.”  (Copies of these written requests are on file with the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, signed by each of the students who submitted them.)

So here we have admitted evidence of vote fraud in one college town in one year, but not prosecuted.   Just like Governor Lynch’s so-called awesome (and impossibly low) High School drop out rate, if you want to make something go away without actually doing anything about it, you ignore it, hide it, re-define it, or simply find enough people who might benefit from it to make it legal.

And while stuffing local ballot boxes with the votes of out of state residents was not new, making it legal made it easier for Democrats to continue to get the votes while reducing significant neck strain from state officials and Democrat party hacks having to look the other way.

On Not being California…

Tax Money down the toiletNew Hampshire is not California.  We are not California because with the exception of 2007-2010, we try to avoid letting Democrats run the entire state government.  (We’re also not Massachusetts for that same reason.)  And this is good, because while Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has now implemented “cost controls” for Healthcare providers in his state, guaranteeing(long term) less access, longer waits and poorer service, California is a bloody disaster.

The tax and spend, unsustainable pension and benefits, land of environmental extortion, saw sales tax revenue drop 33.5% last month.  While but one small part of the problem that is “California” all the problems can be linked directly to things that New Hampshire Democrats want you to experience right here in the Granite State.

Creeping Enviro-Tyranny…this time in Utah

Garden Police State

If you read part-1 of “Following the Trail from Sustainability to Tyranny“, you would have seen a list of “What If?” questions.  The third question reads: “What If you could not grow a vegetable garden without a permit?“.  Some people might say these are pie-in-the-sky questions, or conspiracy notions, simply because they are not necessarily happening today.  Well, you’ve been warned!

NH Democrat Policies On Voter ID and Domicile Still Matter…Here’s Why. (Part 1)

More than a few folks are probably wondering why I keep talking about vote fraud and photo ID.  TEA Party Republicans more or less plugged up the domicile loophole that invited out of state influence in our local New Hampshire elections, and even passed a voter ID requirement.  So where’s the fire?

Democrats are still lying about the issue, and if permitted any kind of majority in state government will do everything in their power to reverse the protections we’ve managed to gain.  So it is essential that we reveal the half-truths and outright lies they will continue to peddle all the way to November and beyond.

Another NH Democrat Violates DoD Rules

NH Democrat candidate Bill Kennedy violated DoD rules
Thanks for the Service, but you are violating DoD rules

Another New Hampshire Democrat running for public office, this time for Governor, has violated Department of Defense Rules.  Bill Kennedy, one of three Democrats running in the party primary for New Hampshire Governor, is in clear violation of DoD directive NUMBER 1344.10

An entire page of his campaign web site includes details of his military service (for which we thank him), with pictures, in uniform.  There is no required disclaimer.
This put’s Mr. Kennedy in the company of Democrat William Connery, who was also in violation of the same rule.  Connery eventually removed the image from his Facebook Campaign page.

It’s A NH Democrat Bill Kennedy Kind Of Morning…This Time It’s About Tax Burden

Mark Fernald Wants an Income taxBill is probably a great guy, and I’m sure he never meant to violate Department of Defense regulations by posting images of himself in uniform on a campaign web site.  But that’s not the only thing that caught my eye while I was there.  Bill is also guilty of lying by omission.

You see, while claiming to be something of a centrist, he still suffers from the same illness as the majority of Democrats in New Hampshire when it comes to talking about taxes and tax burden.  On the same page in which he violated DoD regulation 1344.10, he also engaged in partisan hackery when he says…

“NH is ranked 2nd or 4th worst (depending on whose statistics you use) for property tax burden.”

By using the word tax BURDEN, we are meant to presume a horrible thing but every tax is part of that burden.  If we are going to have an honest discussion about tax burden, shouldn’t we talk about total tax burden?   And why, despite Bill’s sound bite-which is accurate by the way– New Hampshire still has one of the lowest overall tax burdens in the nation?

Democrat Contradictions – Out Of State Influence in Local Elections

Democrats in New Hampshire take a lot of money from outside the state.  Don’t take my word for it, just go look it up.  Millions and Millions.  They use candidates, campaign committees, so-called non-profits, and even have super wealthy out of state special interest donors making personal donations here and there to move money around the campaign finance camp fire, often right into the state Democrat party coffer, then back out to your local races.

No one should be surprised or even taken aback at this because it is all part of the business of politics, every party does some of this, it is all perfectly legal, and everything was fine up until the point when the New Hampshire Democrat party decided to make it a recurring campaign issue against Republicans.   It wasn’t Democrats who were affected by objects of out of state money and influence, just the Republicans.

Democrats are clearly guilty of hypocrisy on the  issue (no surprise there), but whenever they start a narrative like this it is usually because they are doing something else that might be worse, that they need you to be distracted from.  And guess what?   They were.

Maggie’s World -or- It’s Good to be the Duchess

Sustainability Ferris Wheel

Democratic candidate for governor, Maggie Hassan, was recently endorsed by New Hampshire’s largest union*, the National Education Association (NEA-NH).

In their press release, the union stated that “Maggie shares our belief that good public schools are the foundation for strong communities and a vibrant economy and that for our students and schools to thrive, we all need to be held accountable — teachers, parents, students and elected officials.  She knows that continuing to slash school funding risks losing an entire generation of students who won’t get a second chance…

Union President, Scott McGilvary, also stated that “it became very apparent that there was one candidate that can stand up for public education and bring us forward and that Maggie Hassan is our candidate.

NH Foreclosures Trending Downward

Steadily Trending Downward In New Hampshire

…”Barring disruptions in the economic recovery, there is reason to believe the number of new foreclosures in New Hampshire will continue to decline,” said the authority.
