My Guess Was Romney With Around 340 Electoral Votes

Two Professors from the University of Colorado have a model for determining who will win the White House.  They’ve been right every year since 1980.  In 2012 they predict that Mitt Romney will win 320 Electoral votes to Barack Obama’s 218. Romney, it concluded, will win every state currently considered by pollsters to be a … Read more

What Actual Vote Suppression Looks Like in New Hampshire

Someone working for or for the benefit of the Obama campaign is calling senior citizens in New Hampshire (and elsewhere I suspect) and asking them whom they intend to vote for? (Name Redacted)…. told us that his 82 year-old father received a phone call Wednesday from a caller asking him for whom he was going to vote in … Read more

If The Dover New Hampshire Court Suspends The ID law…

I’m not sure what the outcome will be of the suit to suspend the new Voter ID and domicile requirements in New Hampshire, but if the four out of state college students somehow succeed, I would like to suggest that we move to refund them the difference between in-state and out-of state tuition. If they … Read more

Regional Planning Commission Meeting Tomorrow – Milford

Our apologies for the very short notice. Last week, on the heels of a GSF rejection victory in Rochester, Dover shot down their Scenic Byway program, and the standing-room-only crowd made a HUGE difference. The Nashua Regional Planning Commission (NRPC) is holding their Executive Committee and regular Commission meetings, this Wednesday night, September 19th, in … Read more

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in New Hampshire shows Romney with 48% support to President Obama’s 45%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) My personal … Read more

Classroom Political Bias in Merrimack New Hampshire

It’s not the first time that reports have reached my ears of obvious political bias in the classrooms of the Merrimack School System.  Tales of Middle School English teachers using their classrooms to promote the “science” of global warming we’re not uncommon, and while annoying not prevalent enough to demand action. The most recent circumstance … Read more

Remembering Democrat Rule – No Taxes Means More Taxes

In 2007 New Hampshire Democrats assumed complete control of state government.  And much like the Democrat rhetoric in the current 2012 campaign, back in 2007,  their first budget,  New Hampshire’s first budget over 10 billion dollars, was billed by the Democrats as a budget that “addresses our state’s priorities without new taxes.” Addresses our ‘State’s’ … Read more

Ask New Hampshire Democrats…Will You Let Obama Seize our Guns? (Fixed Link)

President Obama, who promised to pursue gun control under the radar, has fulfilled that promise.Oh No Guns....and magazines...and ammo

Obama has expanded civil-forfeiture rules making it permissible for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to seize weapons from citizens without the hassle of due process.

This effectively gives Attorney General Eric Holder, of Fast and Furious fame, extended power over guns and gun-related property.

Who, When, Where…Were Voters Turned Away In New Hampshire…for Not Having ID?

The uber-left-wing group Democracy Now is claiming that “some” primary voters were turned away in New Hampshire on Tuesday because they did not have photo ID.   Democracy Now blames “confusion over the new law” as the culprit.  I’d be more inclined to suggest that this is a load of crap.

Who was turned away?  When?  Where?  Democrats across the state of New Hampshire had pre-organized poll watchers to observe and (hopefully) record exactly that problem…so where is the video?  Where are the interviews?  Who are these “voters,” and why were they not simply referred to the moderator or supervisor of the checklist to clear it up, or to just sign an affidavit declaring domicile in the event that anyone forgot their ID.  The law includes that provision.  The idea that no one in any of the “so-called” polling stations where voters were “supposedly turned away” didn’t know this is absurd.

I can only guess that Democracy Now didn’t know about this or did’t care.  They have nothing but that doesn’t matter becasue this is probably just messaging support for the ACLU & League of Women Vote Stealers ignorant effort to get the law suspended for November.

Remembering Democrat Rule In New Hampshire – In The Beginning…

Tax Money down the toiletIn the 2006 Elections Democrats took control of the New Hampshire House for the first time in 95 years (giving them complete control of State government for what would end up being four years).  What happened after that must not be forgotten, for it is the doom of men that they forget.

They forget that the House Democrats first move was to turn budget policy on its head.  Instead of estimating realistic revenues so that the governor could have a guideline for his budget, they would let the governor request a 14% expansion of state government in February of 2007, to which they would pad or add their spending spree agenda items before figuring out how to tax New Hampshire citizens to pay for their wish list.

RGA Releases Ad – Maggie Hassan is a Tax And Spend Democrat [Updated – Politco reports]

The Republican Governors Association (RGA) is not wasting any time. They ave released a new ad on the web site http://hassantaxhikes.com/ called ‘Deja Vu.’ And it gets to the heart of the matter.  Maggie ‘But Gurl’ Hassan is a NH Democrat, a tax and spender. She always has been. And her taking the tax pledge is no barrier to that.

NH Primary Night Open Thread – Updated as often as I can…

OK.  I or other Groksters will post votes and updates here when we get them or more likley see them.  Feel free to email me results at steve@granitegrok.com.

Final Update (Scroll down for earlier entries)

WMUR goes live at 10 with their primary coverage.  I’m done for now.  We’ll catch up in the AM unless the other Groksters have more to add.

I did want to point out that it looks like 20,000 more people voted in the GOP race for governor with about 50% in.  If that holds, the Democrats are doomed up and down the ticket.

Endorsement: Dan Dwyer, State Senate

As State Senate President, Peter Bragdon lays claim to a number of accomplishments, he also owns a number of disappointments, one of the most egregious of which is our continued membership in the Regional Greenhouse Gas initiative (RGGI).   I hold him solely responsible for our continued participation in this unconstitutional scheme which the Democrat majority that proceeded him, tied us to, which the House and Senate tried to repeal, and which only the Senate failed to override when vetoed by Governor Lynch.

RGGI should be deemed unconstitutional.  The compromise legislation is laughable.  Bragdon has been in Concord too long.  It is time for a change.  And Dan Dwyer offers us that opportunity.

Early Turnout in Merrimack…

NH Votes - I votedI hit the polls early this morning, arriving at 7:15, and the traffic in and out was steady, even brisk.  No long lines, and the presentation of ID posed no problems.

I also ran into Lenette Peterson, Jeanine Notter, Chris Buda (Local GOP Chair), George Markwell (Merrimack School Board), saw a few other folks as well, and then while getting gas overheard two people talking about how they had already voted while I was paying way too much to put gas into my car.  I think turnout will be exceptional for a primary.

I guess the the next question is…who do I think is going to win?

Loony Democrat Say’s She’ll Vote for SEIU Endorsed Republican

SEIU endorsed House candidate Kathy Stroud, running in a contested Republican Primary in Hillsborough District 21 (Merrimack), is a bit miffed that AFP went after her with mailers the weekend before the primary.  She has said as much on Merrimack patch. Can you hear the whining?

If you read Blue Hampshire, for even just 30 seconds, you get a mouthful of milquetoast, liberal whining about the new Voter ID “supression” law. So extreeeeme! Endorsements – Hillsborough 21 (Merrimack)

Steve picks his preferences for the NH House in Merrimack, (Hill Dist 21)The town of Merrimack (Hillsborough District 21) has been my home for 17 years.   And this year Merrimack (still) has eight house seats but ten Republican candidates running to fill them.   As a Conservative I feel compelled to select the eight who I feel will best represent the New Hampshire Republican Platform and the interest of my town and State as I view them.

So I’m no different than the rest of you, except that I may be paying a little bit more attention (maybe), I vote principle before party–though I will not bite off my own nose to spite my face, and my soap-box…well, it is just a little bit big bigger than that of the average voter.

So these are my personal endorsements for Hills-21, though I can assure you that my A-Team picks are all GranitGrok Worthy.

Joke: Three NH Democrats for Governor Walk Into A Debate…

Three NHDP stooges for Governor Maggie Hassan, Jackie Cilley, Bill Kennedy…all three of them want to raise your taxes.  But seriously folks….they do.  They all want to empower the state to take more of your money.  So what is there to debate? …How they disguise that desire.  But it is a distinction without a difference, or is that a difference without a distinction?

Whichever stooge you choose, Bill “No DGA if No Va-Jay-Jay” Kennedy, Maggie ‘Louisville Slugger’ Hassan (aka Bat Gurl), or Jackie “Tax and Spend us” Cilley, they all want to grow government right now, regardless of any economy, at your expense.

So Democrats need the debate to figure out which stooge will be the best liar?

DOJ Pre-Clears New Hampshire Voter ID law

The Department of Justice has pre-cleared New Hampshire’s Voter ID law.  Of course how could it not?   The law is not terribly restrictive.   But taken with new laws regarding proof of domicile it is an improvement, and next year the law starts to do more to ensure that only those legally eligible to vote … Read more
