We don’t have details yet, but a release has been issued with gushing praise for compromise. Whenever Democrats are happy about a budget, I’m suspicious. So, I’m a bit nervous about this.
The budget showdown appears to be over, with a compromise reached between Governor Sununu, the Democrat majorities, and Republican leadership. For months now the State has operated under a continuing resolution passed in late June, but when legislators meet tomorrow at 1pm in both the House and Senate the State could be one step further … Read more

Last month, the Trump administration instituted a new administrative rule. The purpose is to promote self-sufficiency. It has the additional benefit of ensuring non-citizens can pay their own way.
The New Hampshire legislature failed to override more than 4 dozen vetoes. The record number of vetoes is the byproduct of the arrogance and intolerance of Democrats.
Wednesday and Thursday were good days for legislative Republicans. They showed unified strength in sustaining the Governor’s many vetoes, sustaining 53 out of 55 so far this year. This also showed the Democrats just how powerful the minority can be, when it bands together. But, its too early to sit back and count the chips, … Read more
We learned that the biennial budget shenanigans with replacement budget bills are in progress. The Majority Party Democrats tried in vain to “suspend the rules” in order to introduce the budget replacement bills HB3 and HB4.
The New Hampshire House will meet later this week, September 18 and 19, with the Senate meeting on the 19th. On the agenda: votes to sustain or override each of the Governor’s 50+ vetoes, including the budget veto. At stake is the use of state general funds, i.e. taxpayer dollars, for direct and indirect funding … Read more

The NHGOP, not wasting any time, launched Feltes2020.com today. And, it’s quite well done. The page is complete with the digital ads … Read more

It happens. We occasionally disagree on things around the humble blogger’s shop. And this week we’ve got an example of that. Mike, Skip, and Steve, took a vote and it was not unanimous.
In a guest op-ed appearing in today’s Concord Monitor, Senator Dan Feltes and Chairman Susan Almy took pen to paper in another attempt to fool the taxpayers of New Hampshire.
My earlier post was about the Governor’s veto of the Democrat Budget and the municipal leaders that support it. Now, I had expected Governor Sununu to actually be there to show a bit of respect for those that were going out on a limb in showing support for that veto. Or failing the Governor’s presence, … Read more

As you may know, Planned Parenthood has CHOSEN to forego certain federal funding (Title X) in order to continue profiting from ABORTIONS: Steve wrote about it here. He also noted that the N.H. DemocRATS want to force N.H. taxpayers to replace the federal dollars that Planned Parenthood chose to forego: The State budget has 3.2 … Read more
Last Friday, Governor Sununu met with Democrat leaders to talk about the continuing budget impasse. Today is day 46 of the state operating under a continuing resolution, for those keeping score at home, and the Democrats really had some wild ideas on how to solve the budget veto.

The proposed state budget created by House and Senate Democrats and vetoed by Governor Sununu increases taxes. It increases spending by an unsustainable 13.2 percent. And it makes promises to local taxpayers that it cannot keep.
Authorizing spending is not the same thing as making a budget. If you don’t recognize a responsibility to not spend more than you take in, it is not a budget. The United States has not had a budget in more than a decade. The federal government is behaving like a teenager with a checkbook. It … Read more
by Greg Moore | In the South, you often hear the phrase, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It’s too bad that idiom hasn’t become more popular in New Hampshire, because our state Legislature seems intent on breaking our vibrant, robust economy and instead throwing the car that’s going 100 mph in reverse. Five … Read more
