Wednesday, “Maine’s Democratic governor, Janet Mills, joined Republican Govs. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire and Phil Scott of Vermont” to issue a misleading holiday warning on Social Media.
“We know this about the virus, it doesn’t care who you are, where you’re from, whether you’re young or old, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican,” Baker said.
“It’s a threat to all of us,” Scott continued. “That’s why until everyone can get vaccinated, it’s so important to take precautions to protect us all especially right now.”
This is false to the point of fraud.
This virus is a threat to almost no one under the age of 70. We’ve demonstrated that using New Hampshire’s own data. The 12/24/20 NH Case Summary for today’s Threat Index is a mirror of all that precedes it.
If you are under 60 – comprising the majority of productive working and learning Granite Stater’s – you have a tenth of one percent or less chance of dying from this virus. If you are under the age of 20, there is no threat.
If you are 60-69, the risk is minimal and should be a choice you make based on other health concerns, not governors making blanket edicts without regard to the facts in their own data.
The numbers clearly show the truth.
It is New England governors who don’t care “…who you are, where you’re from, whether you’re young or old, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican.”
Their edicts, orders, and blanket mandates are causing extensive damage to lives and livelihoods, jobs, businesses, careers, and families.
That means mask-wearing, hand washing and “If you’re thinking of having a holiday gathering as usual this year, it also means reconsidering that,” said Mills.
Sununu led the group off with a message all four repeated: “Mask up, and Happy Holidays.”
Is it ironic, governor, that the people most at risk, all of whom are masked up in Long Term Care Facilities, surrounded by masked up health care experts are the ones who this virus is taking from us? Sometimes without family and friends being able to say goodbye before or after their passing?
This entire charade disgusts me.
As a reminder, those over 70 always need to be careful during any flu season, and COVID19 has not been kind. You need to decide for yourselves with family, and your doctor or care provider, what is best for you, as does anyone with respiratory issues or other high-risk comorbidities.
But you should not have to give up your business, job, liberties, friends, Holidays, or anything else – endure quarantine or wear a mask (unless you want to do that) if you decide the risk is acceptable.
You should be free to choose based on an honest presentation of the risk and your tolerance for it.
