While I was on my town’s Budget Committee, I warned the town and school board against taking “free money” that the Feds were giving out like the candy thrown out by Old Home Day marchers. The analogy was apt.
“We believe that low taxes are the result of low spending; that government has a moral obligation to the people to be as cost-effective as possible, to always limit spending and growth of government, and to cut spending and cost of government at every possible turn.”
The Vermont House is considering legislation (H.228) that would “require students in Vermont public schools to complete a course on personal finance as a condition of being awarded a high school diploma.” Does that sound odd to anyone other than me?
