Global Warming Part 2: The Science – so bad it’s not even wrong

Fair warning: This will get a little “sciencey” but don’t fear it can’t get too “sciencey” since I’m not a scientist (now I’m sounding like a Republican).

Let’s start with Newton’s LAWS of Motion and Gravitation. Huh? I know, I’m taking you down another path, but I’ll get to the point eventually. Let’s talk about his 2nd LAW of motion which states that F=MA (force = mass times acceleration). Let’s say that I don’t believe this. There is simply not enough evidence of this LAW. It can’t be true. “What is your alternate theory?” You might ask. It’s not F=MA, that’s for sure. I pushed real hard against my car and it didn’t move an inch. I also have a brother who skydives. He tells me that he stops accelerating after a few seconds. You might reply with explanations of ‘vector sum of forces’, ‘coefficients of static friction’ and ‘wind resistance’. I could keep going, but the point is that I DON’T have a theory. I am simply denying the only theory present. I had a college Physics professor who had a term for this. He would say “It’s so bad, it’s not even wrong.”

Global Warming Part 1: How Liberals Think

By Eddie

If you hadn’t heard – They are floating another name change for Global Warming.

(Image H/T: The Editors)

I know what’s going through your mind right now: “What? Liberals think?” As much as this might sound like an oxymoron, how liberals and conservatives come to certain conclusions is instructive. I might as well get this out of the way. I don’t have any special insight as to how liberals really think. I can tell you how I came to my conclusions and I have learned a lot based on responses to my earlier post on the topic of global warming.

For me it started in 2006. Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth came out and well, pretty much anything that Al says has got to be true, especially after all the work that he did programming the internet. I don’t think anything that anyone can say after that can convince me otherwise.

Did you actually believe that?

US Senate helps NASA Transition from Climate Cult Back to Space Jam

NASA is in Transition, and the US Senate is helping. The NASA Transition Act 2017 has just been passed by the Federal Senate. In the words of Congressman Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Science Committee, this act refocusses NASA away from climate, towards space science. Plenty of other departments, NOAA in particular, already do … Read more

Wanna be an instant sniper?

And hit a target at 1,000 yards? The first time you’ve ever filed a rifle? Any rifle? Well, it’s here. (This is the 21st century, after all.)

The Curiosity rover on Mars

That’s an old picture sent back by Viking or Pathfinder or one of the previous visitors to Mars. The Curiosity rover is a whole new ball game. And it’s really interesting. Go HERE to see why. (Hit the FULLSCREEN button in the upper left and use the magnifiers to get the full effect. Yikes! Cool!)

Party Of Science and Technology Hits Way-Back Machine For Benghazi Cover-Up

I still have an election 2010 bumper sticker on my car that say’s “Take Back America.”   Last week I saw a bumper sticker, clearly designed to counter that idea “Take American back where?” with a list of dates traveling into antiquity.  The left thinks they are the party of science, progress.  They tell themselves these things to cover up their desire for a failed system of government that in the scope of human history has itself been the rule rather than the exception.  A top down tyranny directed by a chosen few who decide what is best for the rabble.  Forward!

Well the party of technology is at cross-purposes over their cover-up in Benghazi.

This 2012 Nobel Prize For Science Might Piss Democrats Off

Adult Stem cell research creates all the curesDemocrats and their Abortion advocates keep saying they are the party of science, and that Republicans will ban abortion (stay with me, they are related).  First, Republicans do not believe in the kind of monarchical government where that is even possible, and just for the record (again), even if Roe v. Wade was overturned, all 50 states abortion laws would remain in tact and in force until such time as each state and its citizens wanted them changed.

So yeah, Democrats are just making stuff up to scare people.   You know what else they’ve been scaring people with – Science and Stem cells.

This is not political…but it’s eerie as hell….

When Skip Murphy dragooned me to blog with GraniteGrok, I said “Okay, whatever…but what do you want me to write about?” He said “Whatever interests you.” Okay, that’s mostly politics, especially in New Hampshire…but every once in a while….

Something comes up. Like this. The picture on the left. The human heart. That is, something that may be on the verge of being obselete, and in the process the  human species may end the necessity of having…any heartbeat.

I know. Science fiction, right? But an article that just appeared in PopSci.com surely blew my mind. Here’s the deal….

In late 2003 Dr. Bud Frazier—a famous heart doctor at Texas Heart Institute implanted a newly approved…uh…”turbine pump” in the chest of a young man from Central America. It was designed to assist his diseased heart, not replace it. He was told to come back to the hospital for “frequent checkups,” but neither he nor his family was fully conversant in English, so “the young man walked out of the hospital and disappeared. When he finally showed up eight months later…

SETI Gets Its Game On

SETI gets funding to resume search for alien lifeThe Search For Extra-terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) had to shut down its Allen Telescope Array back in April.  Not enough money.  According to Mashable.com the Allen Telescope Array

…consists of 42 20-feet-wide telescopes located some 300 miles north of San Francisco. Originally funded largely by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who donated $25 million to the project, the ATA had to go into hibernation after state budget cuts affected the project’s funding.

New funding has resurrected the project.  The funding comes from private donors as well as the US Air force.  That would be “the 1%” and the Federal government.  Private donors, as we all know, sit atop their hordes like mythical dragons consuming members of the lower classes with dead-end, low wage jobs, and on occassion…let a few dollars slip out the cavern door to bribe politicians, bankers, and look for Alien life on other planets.

The Air Force just wants to test the Array  for “Space Situational Awareness,” according to the article.  Isn’t that just ripe with possibilities.

#OccupyKepler22-b

The big news in science is the discovery of a ‘Goldilocks’ planet orbiting an Earth-like sun at a distance referred to as the ‘habitable zone.’ This is great news. The party of ‘Science’ should build a ship and occupy it as soon as possible. No need to wait for conclusive evidence of habitability. I mean, … Read more

Stem Cell Research Company Walks Away From Embryos

Adult stem cell therapies for heart patientsStem cells.  You heard of them?  Democrats love stem cells.  But just the Embryonic variety.  Progressives love them so much they put embryonic  stem cell research on the pedestal right next to renewable energy as evidence of their commitment to “science.”  We heard all about it back in 2008.

President Obama rode the Stem cell nag all the way to March of 2009 when Dear Leader signed an order sending big bags of taxpayer funding, in the name of science, to support the next generation of cures for things like diabetes, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and Spinal cord injuries.

Jeanne Shaheen, Democrat Senator from New Hampshire, stood beside Mr. Obama, diabetic granddaughter/prop at her side, crooning in a press release after the executive order announcing that  “Today, President Obama took a major step in restoring America’s role as a leader in science and medicine by lifting the ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.”

It was the damn Renaissance, brought to you by Jeanne “I need a Blue Ribbon Panel to tell me how to tie my own shoes”  Shaheen and a guy who had visited all 57 States.   What could go wrong?

Out On A Lim

CHristian Cross mp3 playerChaeyoon Lim has published an article in the American Psychological Review that… "substantiates that it is not really going to church and listening to sermons or praying that makes people happier, but making church-based friends and building intimate social networks there.”

So all that stuff about God, that’s just window dressing?

“Our study offers compelling evidence that it is the social aspects of religion, rather than theology or spirituality, that leads to life satisfaction,”

"In particular, we find that friendships built in religious congregation are the secret ingredient in religion that makes people happier.”

This looks like a conclusion looking for research to support it.  But has Chaeyoon really gone out on a Lim?
