Seasoned Greetings

The Holidays are upon us.  It’s that special time of year when atheism gets more Constitutional religious freedom than any actual religion, the lefts devotion to separation of church and state does not prevent union government employees from enjoying paid days off for…religious holidays, and we get to remind ourselves that what believing in a power greater than yourself really means is trusting a godless government that fears no power greater than itself to act as our moral compass.

I don’t have to give you examples, the social and economic decline that has paralleled my life (at least) is evident all around us….but I will anyway.

Notable Quote: Government As A Protector From Natural Evils

The ideas of religion and government are closely connected; and whilst we receive government as a thing necessary, or even useful to our well-being, we shall in spite of us draw in, as a necessary, though undesirable consequence, an artificial religion of some kind or other.  To this the vulgar will always be voluntary slaves; … Read more

I’d Like to Know What New Hampshire Democrats Think About This?

I’d like to know what New Hampshire Democrats think about this? Under President Obama’s healthcare law, the HHS can levy $100 per employee, per day against institutions that won’t comply with the (contraceptive) mandate. Therefore, religious employers with hundreds of employees could be fined millions of dollars each year. A 50-employee institution, for example, would … Read more

Data Point – NH the least religious state in the Union

According to Gallup, individuals who indicated that religion is an important part of their daily life and that they attend religious services every week or almost every week were classified as “very religious” by Gallup officials. That definition would mean 40 percent of Americans nationwide are very religious, the survey found. Another 32 percent of … Read more

Socialism’s Assault on Religion vs. Industry as Virtue

The Marxist/secularist assault on religion is well documented and continues today on many fronts.  But one of the reasons for attacking Religion in the first place, is that the foundations of the Puritan/Protestant faith–in America at least–never viewed material success as an obstacle to spiritual salvation.  In fact they encouraged it.

Every Issue is a Social Issue

The single greatest shortcoming among the secularists, the non-religious right, most of the left, the social justice “small ‘r’ religious left, and the mass of humans too confounded (or disinterested) by it all to be called anything but in the middle, is that humans are essentially selfish and immoral creatures whom–if left unchecked–will inevitably devolve into tyranny.

If given an opportunity to take advantage they do.  And more often than not, if there are obstacles, be they divine commandments or temporal statutes, people find a way to not just break them, but to justify breaking them.  We are lazy.  The lowest common denominator is not beyond a single one of us.  And not to put too fine a point on that but we currently live in a country where executing an infant at birth, simply because that child’s mother said they did not want them, is a major feature of one of the two current political parties in America, while most of the people in the other one, are afraid to bring that up.

Data Point – Importance: First Amendment Right or Free Contraceptives?

Gallup has the latest on the views concerning those who believe that the enumerated First Amendment Right to Religious Freedom should reign supreme, or Obamacare forcing religious institutions to provide “free” contraceptives, abortifacients, sterilization, or abortion services to those they cover.  First chart is broken out by sex:

“It’s 2012 and we’re reading letters debating theology?” Yes, and we should!

In response to a Letter to the Editor in the Daily Sun (P. 4) today, i sent in this response (original Letter after the jump):

I actually wonder why there is not more discussion of theology in “public square”, Mr. Carey.  After all, it was the philosophy of Judeo-Christian theology that gave rise to the political philosophy of our Republic in which we now live. Religon, and the attendent theologies, shapes many of our individual outlooks on life, those around us, and how we conduct ourselves; in short, our personal morality.  Since it is individuals that become our legislatures, it makes it more important to have those discussions.  After all, they concoct our laws which form our public morality.

The Shrill Kathy On Religion, Fatties, Food Stamps, And Republicans

“I have a great diet. You’re allowed to eat anything you want, but you must eat it with naked fat people.” —Ed Bluestone

Kathy SullivanIt’s a different kind of day when the Shrill Kathy graces the pages of the Union Leader with feigned pity for Republican candidates. And what can be said of the Shrill Kathy where she takes the opportunity to grossly mischaracterized an ad put out by the Perry Campaign. She states, “Rick Perry Complains…” But does he really? Or are the assertions in the spot a pointed statement about the current and existing situation. Having served in the United States Marine Corps, I can tell you there were individuals present and serving who were gay. And they continued to serve.

Thanksgiving – Wherein US Senator Jeanne Shaheen joins in the perfidy of the New York Times regarding Freedom of Religion

Maybe, somebody ought to read this to our US Senator, Jeanne Shaheen, as she seems to has misplaced its importance:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

That would be the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution for the clueless (or graduates of the Government school system); from the US Constitution, by the way, and not the Human Secularist one.   Why is this important, and why should Sen. Shaheen at least be embarrassed?

On a day that historically that has been reserved for the Nation to give thanks to God by President Lincoln for His bounty, a bedrock idea of this county, the New York Times (the Bible of Liberalism according to its editor, Jill Abramson, who said "In my house growing up, The Times substituted for religion…" ) sees fit to further the process of denying those of faith their Freedom ensconced in the  Constitution simply because it is in the tank for Obamacare.

And US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) goes along for their disingenuous  ride as the NYT continues to prop up Obamacare, tosses the importance of religious tenets of faith minded people over away in washing religion from the public square, and continuing their "precedence march" of State’s importance over citizens in determining what is ethical:

The Battle Over Birth Control

In August, Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, announced new rules that included contraceptives for women in the package of preventive health care services that all insurers must cover without a deductible or co-payment beginning next year.
Related

The policy follows the recommendation of the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine. It will help drive down the rates of unintended pregnancy and abortion by making birth control more accessible.

It was distressing but came as no surprise that the new rules prompted protests from Roman Catholic bishops and other church leaders. What is surprising, and even more distressing, is that the White House is considering caving to their call for an expansive exemption that would cover employees of hospitals, universities, charitable organizations and other entities that are associated with religious organizations but serve the general public and benefit from public money.

What they don’t go into detail (knowing it destroys their narrative) is that in proclaiming "for the public good" is in direct opposition to the freedom to religious belief.  What is it when one is forced to believe something that otherwise they would not voluntarily by the State?

Yes, Tyranny.  Not any surprise, that’s what Big Government brings ("The Bigger the Government, the smaller the citizen"):

GrokTV Event: Senator Rick Santorum on Religion in the Public Square

This past Sunday, Americans for Prosperity / NH had a Presidential Summer Celebration in Center Harbor.  Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) was one that spoke. Submission

From a couple of Facebook posts I did yesterday morning:

I DVR most of the political Sunday shows – am watching Meet The Press and I cannot believe how badly David Gregory is hectoring Michelle Bachman on her faith in God. He just can’t seem to understand that God IS important to most folks.

And taunting her with "would you appoint an atheist to your Admin"? Good grief

And it seems that the shows and liberal pundits covering for Obama have zeroed in on her stance on the Biblical relationship between husbands and wives:

Later, Gregory interrogated Bachmann about her religious views. After playing a clip of the congresswoman quoting the biblical instruction for wives to “submit” to their husbands, Gregory asked, “Is that your view of women in America?”

When Bachmann argued that “submission” meant “respect,” Gregory joked, “Congresswoman, I didn’t even have to check with my wife, and I know those two things aren’t equal.”

“Well in our house, it is,” Bachmann shot back.
(H/T: the Corner)

Now, I don’t exactly agree with her answer, but Gregory (and others) seem to be intent on bashing the religious faith of those that refuse to kowtow to liberal Political Correctness orthodoxy.  Here’s the reference for the basis of the kerfuffle: Ephesians 5:22

22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

Certainly, much as been made of this in our "everyone HAS to be equal" society – and it drives many Liberals and feminists absolutely crazy.  They see this automatically as "wife as doormat" or "back to the days of barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen".  They will not accept what is…

Theocracy? Couldn’t happen if we tried…

At last night’s Perry event at Pam Tucker’s, there was a lone protester with a sign that muttered something that he was opposed to establishing a theocracy.  You know, that kind of silly protest seems to be pretty much standard fare for anyone on the Right that shows any sign of religiosity.  After all, the … Read more

If You Are Not Following Me On Twitter….

Twitter inspires the opportunity to aggravate the leftists who insist on following conservatives there. Not every witticism will fit on Twitter. Sometimes you have to write a blog and post a link. And then there are the thoughts that are too short to blog and too long to tweet. (Some things can’t be said in under 140 characters.)

Coming to a wallet near you: “No God but Allah” Dollar bill

This could lead to a multi-directional food fight – atheist vs Islamist vs Christians / Jews: This is going to put the Left into quite the quandary! It has been proven in a variety of polls that Lefties tend to trend much more secular than those on the Right.  Problem in this case, Progressives are … Read more

Huntsman Is Just Another RINO

Aside from diluting Romney’s vote Huntsman serves no purpose. I’m sorry. That is not entirely correct. He gives us another RINO whipping boy to catalyze our distrust of the moderate Republican establishment and a complicit left wing media, both of whom are trying to tell us which Republican to vote for (aka: the next John McCain Republican.)

When Homeland Security Becomes Racist

Constitution_with_Terrorist_small.jpg

“Every Muslim, the minute he can start differentiating, carries hate towards Americans, Jews, and Christians; this is part of our ideology. Ever since I can recall I felt at war with the Americans and had feelings of animosity and hate toward them…” –Usama Bin Laden, December, 1998 on Al Jazeera

From across the fruited plain come the hues and cries yet again declaring, “racism and bigotry!” Isn’t free speech a real gem?

A former New York State prison official gave testimony Wednesday at a second Homeland Security hearing in Washington asserting that radical Islam is making in-rows into the American penal system. In a report by Fox News, A New York prisons official testified that radical Muslims have made “sustained efforts” to indoctrinate inmates in America, at a second hearing on Islamic radicalization held by Rep. Peter King.

And as with King’s first hearings held on back in March, Wednesday’s hearing was just as fraught with cacophonous protests and cries of racism. Representative Bennie Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi and ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, says, “The threat of terrorism from U.S. converts in prison is ‘small.'” Enter Laura Richardson, a liberal, Kool-Aid drinking Democrat from California who suggested the hearing was “racist,” further asking why Muslims in prisons are being targeted as opposed to other religious or ethnic minorities,” reports Fox News.

An imam who works as a chaplain in a county jail on Long Island was one such protestor of the King Homeland Security hearing. says this imam, “I have seen no evidence of terrorist recruitment at the jail.” Yet this “peace-loving” imam goes on to tell Fox News, “If we found anyone in our community committing an act of terrorism, by the time the police got there the matter would be settled and there would be one less terrorist,” can you feel the brotherly love?

So, what did the cops all have to say?

Patrick Dunleavy, a retired corrections official in New York told the committee that radical Muslims have been trying to convert U.S. inmates to their cause for decades. “Despite appearances, prison walls are porous. Individuals and groups that subscribe to radical Islamic ideology have made sustained efforts to target inmates for indoctrination.”

Former California federal prosecutor Kevin Smith cited the cases of Kevin James and Levar Washington, who both plead guilty in 2007 to “conspiracy to levy war against the United States through terrorism.”

Smith characterized the actions of both men as a “seditious conspiracy” hatched inside California’s prison system.

Top Los Angeles Police Department official Michael Downing, described the radical Islamic conversions as a “phenomena of low volume,” but holds “high consequence” considering the sheer size of the U.S. prison population.  “We do have a problem,” he said. “Prisons are communities at risk.”
