Heroes matter. Guess who Progressives think are not – and who should be

This could also have been a BlogLine of the Day but requires a bit more thinking.  So, here’s my information backdrop US Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan –  Asserts that the amount of deviant behavior in American society has increased beyond levels the community can afford to recognize and that society has been redefining deviancy to … Read more

New! Improved! Sex-Ed Plus Censorship Plus Mandatory Morality

In the beginning… Colorado passed controversial sex-ed legislation back in 2013. What they did started national discussions about how much we want to expose children to. The Colorado legislation was a mandatory, comprehensive sex education law. It requires students undergo “culturally sensitive” lessons. “Culturally sensitive” means sex-ed lessons incorporating minority perspectives on sex. Minority perspectives … Read more

Break Free of the Meme War

By Sara Chamberlain We live in a time where people are afraid to call out degeneracy for what it is. Too afraid of not being edgy enough, not being tolerant enough, modern enough, “progressive” enough. Most of these people live safely tucked away from reality, speaking in memes or other excerpts from tribal think, applauding … Read more

Uniting America

As American culture begins to deteriorate and results from every area of society continue to illustrate the lack of integrity within our culture, people ask the question, “Can’t we just unite and become a nation of one people?” That’s a noble request and one that I believe many American’s would very much like to see become a reality.

We live in an era where sexual promiscuity is promoted, embraced and encouraged. We live in an age where murdering the unborn is not only acceptable but brushed off as a non-issue; some even and laugh it off. The selling of baby body parts is occurring without regard for the dignity and life of the unborn child. We live in an era where God is disrespected and mocked. I’m actually shocked that adults don’t see why we can’t unite.

Let’s remind people why we split from King George and beat the Redcoats

Make taxation theft again

Only $15 (down from $22.95) – isn’t competition and Capitalism grand?

No, this is not an ad by Libertarian COuntry on the ‘Grok.  Rather, it’s a reminder of how far stalwart Liberty loving Americans (as opposed to the Berni-bros and Ocasio-Cortez’ers slouching to Socialism) were willing to stand up to abusers and oppressors.  Taxation for a limited Government is a necessary evil – having more taken from you just so that those in power believe you aren’t doing the right things with your money so they HAVE to take it from you is both insulting – and theft. The fact that our “public morality” has been so perverted by Progressives such as Steve Marchand, Mark Fernald, and Molly Kelly (just to name three Socialists running as Democrats – but I repeat myself) should be frightening.  You see, no matter HOW much they take from you, it is never enough.

Notable Quote – Tom Palmer

“As you go through life, chances are almost 100 percent that you act like a libertarian. You might ask what it means to “act like a libertarian.” It’s not that complicated. You don’t hit other people when their behavior displeases you. You don’t take their stuff. You don’t lie to them to trick them into letting you take their stuff, or defraud them, or knowingly give them directions that cause them to drive off of a bridge. You’re just not that kind of a person.

Quick Thought: These headlines now beg the question:

Stigma

Beyond the Stigma: Residential recovery centers offer refuge to NH moms struggling with addiction”

and

NH gets federal approval to fund syringe services programs

And we’ve all seen the stories about “Free the Nipple” and lately that Trump has come under fire, by Progressives, for calling MS-13 gang members “animals”.  Hollywood sensationalizes bed hopping, our educational system has done a dastardly job at sexualizing our children at earlier and earlier grades, drugs are bad but recovery system marketplace has become a huge industry in its own right (the first headline) even as government supports drug usage (the second headline).  More and more babies are born out of wedlock. Our educational system churns out uneducated students (e.g., “not proficient”).  Traditional values and morality (e.g., “melting pot”, hard work, honesty, duty, honor, self-discipline, frugalness, modesty, respect for others, speech not composed of swearing, a sense of politeness and chivalry by both sexes, a belief in God (or if you prefer, a Higher Power greater than one’s self) are continuing to be ground down into the dirt.

Wouldn’t this be a violation of the Scout Oath and Law? “Morally Straight”?

New Boy Scout OathTo set the stage, the Boy Scout Oath:

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

And the Boy Scout Law:     A Scout is:  Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

So how does the following square with the above? Especially when it is a Scout Leader deciding that the rules do not apply to him? From Big Government (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Despite a directive from a leader of the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), prohibiting scouts from advocating political or social positions, some scouts and adult supporters of Scouts for Equality wore their uniforms Sunday as they marched in Utah’s gay pride parade. The Utah Pride Parade in Salt Lake City came just a little more than a week after national delegates of the BSA approved allowing gay youth to become scouts. NBC News reports that Kenji Mikesell, an 18 year-old Eagle Scout and high school senior still active with his troop, said of his decision to wear his uniform in the parade, “It just feels like the right thing to do.

Sigh.  This is not a rant against the Boy Scouts nor against “gay pride”.  It IS about the further co-opting of traditional groups and their values by an increasing militant pop culture that cannot allow such things to continue to exist.  Of course, the latter has no problem being draped in those values – especially as they know that they are actually hollowing them from the inside – out.

”no controlling legal authority”

Get Out Of Jail Free CardThat was the line Al Gore used back when he was campaigning against George W Bush back in 2000 in raising money at a Buddhist temple (where the monks has a vow of poverty).   As I used to hear in Sunday school, and then say myself – an object lesson!  By that, he just didn’t see any applicable law that applied to the situation – there was nothing there to stop him.  There was no gate, if breached, that would cause a negative consequence to him.  It was as if someone gave him a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card.

And that is the lesson.  As a Conservative, I believe in the phrase “self-governance”.  A two-fer: both meant that citizens should be able to govern themselves in a limited government – there is no monarchy or unaccountable entity to which to be responsible for regulations and laws set for them to merely obey.  We, the citizens, elect our representatives in the law-making process.  It is also is complementary to another phrase: self-responsibility.  Combine them and one will have a sense of morality that says “I need to do the right thing – regardless if there is a law about this or not”.  It is internal governance – that little guy that sits on your shoulder that says “you REALLY should think about NOT doing that” when you know you are wrong before you start.  Right from wrong becomes a personal responsibility – even when no one is looking.  Especially when no one else is there.

Being the Progressive that he is, Gore took advantage of the fact there there was not an “external governor” stuck in the ground in front of him that said “no, this is not right”.  No flag, no cop, no bars, no signs – nothing.  In the Progressive mindset, it seems that they depend on externalities to govern their behavior.  Seeing nothing?  Go ahead and do it!  And he did.  And then blamed the fact that there was no law there to stop him.  Effectively, Progressives outsource that internal governance to others who have made the laws they must follow.

Like Gore, it seems that AG Eric Holder and his partisan crew at the Federal Dept of Justice are now claiming “hey, if there had JUST been another law in place”:

Reid: “Government is inherently good”. SSA goes after son after they overpay Mom (who is deceased).

Really?  Let’s put aside the continual slur laid upon the TEA Party by Reid as he continues to assault anyone or any group that poses a threat to limit the growth of Government (for if it is good, then more MUST be better, right)?  Problem is, how’s these apples, Harry?   This, is good governance?  That an agency as large as the Social Security Agency can take someone’s tax refund willy-nilly after deciding that person needs to pay for SSA’s mistake to another (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Imagine if your parent received an over-payment from the government but decades later, the government took the money out of your tax return.   Gilbert Stokes, 60, of Jacksonville, said it happened to him.   “I’m angry,” Stokes said Wednesday morning.  Stokes felt the same way when he received a letter from the Social Security Administration in January.   “[The letter] said [SSA] was going to withhold my taxes unless I contacted about this social security over-payment,” Stokes explained.

Forty-two years ago in 1971, Stokes’ mother Ruby Lee received an over-payment of $895 while he was in the Navy.

Blogline of the Day – on political hypocrites

“Contrary to the rant in response you’re anticipating, I’m not upset. I’m actually honored to do my part in that whole ‘shared sacrifice’ thing we keep hearing about from our benevolent ruling class. After all, who’s more qualified to talk about shared sacrifice than those who can vote themselves pay raises whenever they want, pass … Read more

But who needs a Dad when Government gives you permission to literally screw up!

Ugh.  Like I said,in order to have their political jones satisfied, Progressives / Socialists / Marxists / Communists have understood for decades that they have to unmoor the American public from their traditional values in order – and in this case, a most important – Parents authority and responsibility.  Here’s a quick story that chops at a number of those anchor points all at the same time.  From Philly.com via  The College Fix:

Students as young as 14 in Philadelphia will soon have access to unlimited free condoms, courtesy of the city government. And while parents will be able to “opt-out” by sending a letter to their child’s school, administrators have made it clear that they will not monitor or restrict access to the condoms, even for those students whose parents have signed “opt-out” letters.

In other words, if your child attends high school in Philadelphia, then the government has taken control of your 14-year-old’s access to birth control, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

And this is why I have said that Conservatives have got to get back into the schools – it is there that the cultural tide that is wrecking our nation and which we saw this last election has its fount.  So here is a policy, set by a democratically elected administration, that thinks it is just great to lie to the parents of the kid in their care. WHY bother to send the ‘opt-out’ form is it is only going to be thrown out and out-right ignored?

Progressives truly believe that laws change EVERYONE’s behavior – and ignore everyone’s nature.

What a rather silly notion, Skip.  Why, if Progressives actually believed Law, we Conservatives would never have had a (sad) hoot of a time with Sec. of Treasuery Timothy “Turbo Tax” Geitner, Sec of Labor Hilda Solis, Cabinet wannabe Tom Dashle and the other assorted current denizens of the White House staff who have “under obeyed” well known and understood tax Laws.  All it took, as they derided “the rich for not paying their ‘fair’ share”, was to just not bother to whip out their checkbook or credit card.  Paying THEIR fair share to the Govt that they administer?  Doing the right thing?   Those are just laws for the masses…

..just not for them, the “enlightened” ones.  Or so it seems.

They just don’t get it – people watch so-called leaders.  They look for consistency – will they stay the course or do they fold?  Do they do things and pass laws that are truly for the “common good” (whatever that means anymore) or just for some special interest group?  Do they say one thing to one set of people, and another to yet a different group?  Does their public persona match that of the private one?

Or their morality?  Or how they have changed what sets our public morality?

Sadness – of many things

As I remarked to TMEW as we went out for a quick bite to eat “This is not a problem with guns.  This is a problem with morality and culture if everything we are hearing is true”.

And we have to remember – we don’t know all the details.  We do know that Adam Lanza was a troubled young adult.  We know that the guns were owned by his mom whom he shot at their home in the face.  What evil must have been present in his heart, or conditioned by our culture, that he felt he could take out his anger, his evilness, perhaps a sense of having been wronged in some fashion, to have executed every innocent 4 & 5 year olds in her class?  Complete innocents at the mercy of a deranged person – for who can kill mere children except for a deranged defective person?

  • I hear journalists nowadays long for the days that “our shared” news was presented by the same kind of newscasters / newspapers.  I grew up in that time.  Shared values.
  • I hear from historians of a time when our outlook as a society was more homogenous – we shared similar values.  I grew up in that time. .  Shared values.
  • I heard from older family members that our social order was that of Civil Society – that social mores kept people “in line” without the need for external governance.  Shared values.
  • I heard and saw that self-restraint and self-sacrifice were of high social values – a more polite society was a given.  Shared values.
  • I heard and saw that the rules were the rules – present, reliable, knowable and enforced.  Shared values.
  • I heard that people that were a danger to us and to themselves used to be kept out of normal society – to protect us against them.

Times have changed.  I blame the 60s.  I blame my generation for deciding it knew better than all other generations combined….without their experience, knowledge, or wisdom.  Such hubris
