Stop Lying Mr. President

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie being Chris Christie…on Mr. Obama’s lying about the Romney Tax Plan.

What Happens If Obama Wins?

This is a direct question to my Libertarian leaning friends who claim to have a love of liberty so deep that they would rather watch it bleed out on the street than vote for Mitt Romney.  I get it.   I was never a huge Romney guy.  I was no fan of John McCain either but I understood he risk that Obama represented to liberty.  Not enough of us did and Obama was elected.

So here we are again, almost four years into the worst presidency ever, a world in chaos, economic, political, and that same guy wants four more years.   Is it really worth the risk?

And just to be clear, I do not care about your Gary Johnson or Ron Paul write-in fantasies.  We are way, way past that.  This is the real world. This is about putting Liberty on life support.  About keeping it breathing.   To stop the bleeding before there is nothign left to save.   And color it any way you want but voting for anyone but Romney (at this point) is a vote for Obama.  I don’t like it, but that’s how it is.  And while you are free to vote for whomever you like regardless, no matter what the risk, I want you to honestly answer this question first, before you go to the polls in November and risk it.

What Happens if Obama Wins?

(And for those intent on going off on some libertarian anti-Romney rant…The almighty says don’t change the subject just answer the F…ing Question.)

Romney Releases 2011 Tax Return and 20 year Tax Return Summary

From the Weekly Standard.

The Romney campaign is releasing Mitt and Ann Romney’s 2011 tax return today. The campaign previews a few of the highlights here:

  • In 2011, the Romneys paid $1,935,708 in taxes on $13,696,951 in mostly investment income.
  • The Romneys’ effective tax rate for 2011 was 14.1%.
  • The Romneys donated $4,020,772 to charity in 2011, amounting to nearly 30% of their income.
  • The Romneys claimed a deduction for $2.25 million of those charitable contributions.
  • The Romneys’ generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year. The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the Governor’s statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13% in income taxes in each of the last 10 years.

Additionally, the Romney campaign is releasing a summary of 20 years of taxes, between 1990-2009, detailing their tax expenditures during those years:

Priorities…

From the UK Mail Online…because you wont read this in the US media without left wing spin… President Barack Obama was today forced to announce he will fly to storm-hit Louisiana on Monday – hours after Mitt Romney beat him to the punch by deciding to head there this afternoon.  But the Republican presidential candidate … Read more

Kill Mitt Romney…The Facebook Page

Joshua Scott Albert must be pining for some attention.  He just put up a Kill Mitt Romney Facebook Page. Albert is known for putting up pages in support of cop killers, and otherwise pretending to be ‘edgy’ under the guise of getting peoples attention. I’m a big fan of edgy, and pushing the envelope, but … Read more

Passing the Buck on Welfare Work Requirements

Waving the job requirement for welfare seems like a natural extension of the Obama Economic plan.  Make sure there are no jobs, keep people dependent on government.  And now he can blame the states…who are suffering under every other yoke he has placed upon them in three in half years. Hey, maybe he’ll send Biden … Read more

Medicare Fraud – [Updated and Bumped – Again…]

When I say “Medicare Fraud,” I’m not referring to the corrupt practices of people and professionals who are milking taxpayers by running fast circles around the bureaucratic behemoth that is Medicare.  I am referring to the left-wing Democrat lie-factory that has nothing in its barren campaign quiver but fear tactics.   That is the fraud I am referring to.   That and the fraud they will perpetrate on every aspect of the Ryan Budget.

I just hope Harry Reid has nothing to say about the Ryan budget…you know…that might get awkward.

Here’s a short clip from CBS news c/o Hot Air on Romney/Ryan and Medicare…

Mysterious Folder Conundrum

Love Birds

Suppose you fall in love with someone who is good looking, well groomed, and has lots of potential.  Let’s say you two lovebirds decide to get married.  Giddiness and joy all around…congratulations.

One day, you are at the supermarket, casually buying grapes (so you can feed them to your love, like they do in the old-timey movies), when a shadowy person comes up behind you and hands you a sealed folder.  The mystery person whispers in your ear and says…

It’s Game Time! Romney / Ryan vs Obama / Biden

Romney-RyanWas at another event last nite and was rather tired when I got home so only a wee bit of surfing was done.  I did note that one post (somewhere) noted that a chartered plane had flown from Boston, landed in Chicago, and then made its way to an airport near Congressman Paul Ryan’s home town.  Typical caveat was given – head fake or real?

Romney Picks Ryan for VP (Updated)

This morning Mitt Romney announced that Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan is his pick for VP.

I’d call this a great choice.  Given that we very likley have over 200 Trillion in unfunded entitlements to deal with, and Ryan being the only guy with a well developed plan–not for cutting or gutting but for dealing with the promises we’ve made and working toward a long term resolution–choosing Ryan says that Romney is serious about dealing with entitlement spending.

And while no plan is perfect, at least there is a Ryan Plan.

Romney’s Tax Records And The Idiot Cabral

“Is being an idiot like being high all the time?”  —Janeane Garofalo

MSNBC‘s Michael O’Brien asserts, “Most Americans say Mitt Romney should release more of his tax returns,” citing a USA Today/Gallup Poll. So how many Americans is “most Americans?” According to the poll, 54%. Certainly, that is 4% more than half. But curiously, the margin of error citing in the poll is +/-5 percentage points, based on a national survey of 539 adults. Also in this poll, Forty-seven percent call the issue of releasing tax returns in general, “largely irrelevant...”

About that Outsourcing…

“Nothing like being scolded by a hippie.”  —Sarah Dessen

President Barack Hussein Obama, the Outsourcer-in-Chief

Yet another campaign ad from Obummer accusing Mittens of outsourcing jobs. Fact-Check.org, as well as the other pundits have weighed in on this issue, “yet they still fiddle.” Does Fisker Automotive  come to mind?

And what about outsourcing? What is the deal with outsourcing? Does anybody ever think about the concept beyond the fact that outsourcing is done for the pursuit of lower costs and cheaper labor? We certainly need to.

The ‘Bain’ Of Green Boondoggles

Following Skip, who followed me, here is White House Propaganda Minister Jay Carney attempting to articulate the differences between private venture capitalism (Romney/Bain/private money/80% success) and Green Venture Corporatism (Obama/Cronyism/ Public money/ Billions lost for nothing). From the “Dragging him over the line” notebook – well, he’s got this Education point right.

In 2008, I was not the most thrilled to have John McCain to be the Republican nominee, at least until I was able to say “Yeah, I voted for Sarah Palin and the old white guy”.  At that time, however, I had a bad premonition about what an Obama Presidency would bring (yeah, I pretty much had it right as the future-now-history shows).  This time, it is Mitt Romney as the Republican nominee and once again, it’s back to “drag that candidate over the line” as the excitement for me for his candidacy just isn’t there.  It is back to the “vote against the other guy”, for if Obama is given a second term, the America that the Founders envisioned with respect to limited government and an emphasis on individual freedom may well be never seen again.

However, this from a speech that Romney gave today gave me a little smile:

First, I will expand parental choice in an unprecedented way.  Too many of our kids are trapped in schools that are failing or simply don’t meet their needs.  And for too long, we’ve merely talked about the virtues of school choice.

As President, I will give the parents of every low-income and special needs student the chance to choose where their child goes to school.  For the first time in history, federal education funds will be linked to a student, so that parents can send their child to any public or charter school, or to a private school, where permitted.  And I will make that choice meaningful by ensuring there are sufficient options to exercise it.
