Romney Picks Ryan for VP (Updated)

This morning Mitt Romney announced that Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan is his pick for VP.

I’d call this a great choice.  Given that we very likley have over 200 Trillion in unfunded entitlements to deal with, and Ryan being the only guy with a well developed plan–not for cutting or gutting but for dealing with the promises we’ve made and working toward a long term resolution–choosing Ryan says that Romney is serious about dealing with entitlement spending.

And while no plan is perfect, at least there is a Ryan Plan.

The Democrat plan is to use class warfare rhetoric to milk the rich for a weeks worth of debt spending.   The Democrat plan is to not pass a budget and instead engage in constant last minute crisis resolution spending for political points.  Put another way, they have no plan unless out of control spending until it collapses can be called a plan.

Of course, at the end of that plan, no one has anything except the people in power.  Guess who Democrats want that to be?  Them.

So I like Ryan, and not just because Democrats can’t stand him–which is usually a great indicator in and of itself. But I admit to having been fearful of a more cautious choice.  I was afraid we’d get a Pawlenty or a Portman, far too moderate.  All in all, as his first ‘Executive Decision’ I’d say this bodes well for the future.

Schedule…(From Yahoo News)

Romney and Ryan are scheduled to travel throughout Virginia Saturday, before heading to North Carolina on Sunday, Florida on Monday and Ohio on Tuesday. Romney aides are hoping the VP pick will offer new energy to a campaign that has been besieged by negative attacks from President Barack Obama’s campaign and negative headlines about Romney’s own strategy
