In the last decade, New Hampshire’s population grew at the slowest rate in a century, signaling that generations’ worth of astounding economic and cultural gains could be put at risk.

Quick Takes – A Hat Trick + One
1. Shortages.
I was at the grocery store and I overheard three of the senior people – decades of experience – talking about how it’s harder to get items to stock on the shelves. I mentioned that to some of the stock clerks whom I have gotten to know and they concur: they’re having to get creative to keep shelves visually full.
Biden Has Become Nixon
I never want to hear another word from any Democrat, liberal, or progressive about how evil Nixon was. Biden allowed (supported?) corruption of the political process when he was vice president. As president, he has done his utmost best to reverse economic and foreign policies that made the US safer and more prosperous.
Notable Quote – There are only NON-Economic results, not Economic ones
There are, in the last resort, no economic ends. The economic efforts of the individuals as well as the services which the market order renders to them, consist in an allocation of means for the competing ultimate purposes which are always non-economic.
DISQUS Doodlings – They Have No Idea of the Consequences and Ramifications…
I had to go to Maine yesterday unexpectedly so I tried to jam in some posts in the very early morning. Got a few in and then hit the wall trying to figure out what I could do quickly (but meaningfully) and couldn’t find anything.
Data Point: Both Death and Unemployment Rates Higher In Lockdown States
“Nine of the 10 states with the lowest unemployment rates are led by Republicans. The exception is Wisconsin whose Supreme Court last May invalidated Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’s lockdown.”
Are You Part of the Top 1%?
Inspired by Skip’s recent Notable Quote post from Café Hayek, I got to thinking about the basic differences between a free market economic system and socialism.
Give Michael Moore’s ‘The Planet of the Humans’ a chance
We all want a clean, healthy environment. We all want inexpensive and reliable energy, from whatever source, that enables us to prosper, have a healthy environment, and live healthy lives. And, we want these for ourselves and future generations.
Data Point – The Granite State! Arms Manufacturer to the US!
I did not know this although with the number of companies in the Second Amendment biz resident in the State, I figured NH to be high on the list – but not THIS HIGH! For the most part, you couldn’t pay me to live in the Northeast. No offense to those of you who live … Read more
Notable Quote – So, Progressive-Socialism is “Scientific”, eh?
Socialists (and assorted ilk) have always maintained that their ideas are “Scientifically” based. That all one has to do is follow their commands and we’d all have Heaven on earth.
Data Point – NH is Back? Or is it? By
From mid-April: …The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2021 was 3% — a 0.3% decrease from February, New Hampshire Employment Security reported Tuesday. The March 2020 seasonally adjusted rate was 2.7%. New Hampshire’s unemployment rate boomed more than 17% last year after the pandemic hit but has since recovered and is now among the … Read more
A $15 Minimum Wage Would Make NH Poorer, Less Populous
Raising New Hampshire’s minimum wage to $15 an hour would cost the state nearly 6,000 jobs and more than 9,000 residents, raise consumer prices, reduce economic output, and cause serious harm to small businesses and the leisure and hospitality industries, a new report from New Hampshire Employment Security concludes.
The Nonprofit Status in the US Has Been, like Everything Else, Horribly Misused
“How would you reform the economics profession to make it better …?” Cowen asked Cochrane. “You’re in charge. You pick the reforms as if you would run the whole gliding committee. What would you do?”
More Damning Evidence: A Mandated Minimum Wage Hike Will Harm, Not Help
Eugenicists and racists, mostly Democrats, crafted the original minimum wage idea to harm the same people that our modern-day Democrats now claim would benefit. Their ideological forebearers had it right, so are their 21st-century social re-engineers ignorant, stupid, or evil?
Notable Quote – The Case against Socialist Control of the Economy
There is therefore no ground for the pretence that in order to maintain equilibrium between production and demand, we must employ the foresight of an army of administrators and surveyors, whose duty it should be to prescribe what every produce should provide, and consequently how much each consumer should enjoy. Inhabitants of our metropolis see … Read more
They Don’t Even Have to Pretend Anymore
It’s one thing to hear outsiders making claims about conspiracies among political insiders to use the COVID panic to implement power grabs in areas having nothing to do with public health.
They’re just conspiracy nuts, right?
You Can’t Unionize Jobs That Don’t Exist
Remember when Amazon pulled out of Seattle in part because of the city was planning to target its largest employers with a ‘head tax’? Remember when Amazon scuttled its plans to open a center in New York City, because AOC and other progressives organized opposition to the move? Clearly this is a company that is … Read more
Notable Quote – No, Government was never supposed to be “entrepreneurial” by design
Do you remember how bad the Obama Administration was at being a “green Venture Capitalist” (think: Solyndra)?
Data Point: China – Sorry About That – We Missed Our Reductions Again
WHY do we have to be in the Paris Accord? Any reduction in CO2 emissions is being swamped by China – which has promised to only come up with a figure for the Paris Accord by 2030.
