Update to Barry / Stacie Lawton’s NH House Representative career

Union Leader: “I don’t think it would look good for the state,” she said. “I don’t think it would look good for the party, and I don’t think that the citizens would like to see their beloved representative-elect be expelled.” As Steve pointed out in his post, Stacie Marie / Barry Laughton decided that disclosing … Read more

Future New Hampshire House Democrat?

Political parties never stop recruiting “qualified” candidates for future races and I think I’ve identified a potential Democrat contender for 2014. Eighteen year-old Tyler Murray of Manchester New Hampshire was recently charged with Fraudulent use of a credit card: Murray is accused of using a credit card belonging to another to purchase $258.58 worth of … Read more

Are We at Their “Collective” Mercy?

The State Constitution says that you must be domiciled in New Hampshire to vote here.

The legal definition of domicile is your residence.  By law you can only have one of these.

But Judge Lewis allowed the ACLU’s “love the one you are with” definition of domicile to supersede the common law definition.  Anyone can claim to live here to vote without having to so for any other purpose.   Until that is resolved there is nothing ‘technically’ illegal about it; this ruling is, as I have said before, legalizing the theft of elections for the purpose of indefinite one-party rule.

It is, for all intents and purposes, the tyranny of factionalism we were long ago warned about.  It is a sanctioned left wing mob complete with the potential for a perennial lynching at the ballot box.

Quick riff off Scott: Secession By Atrophy

He is right – we are seeing patches of America that are degenerating into some kind of ThunderDome dystopia.  We do have places, especially in our urban areas, that rival any banana republic or third world nation landscape.  Victor Davis Hanson, a professor of the Classics and military history in the California university system, has been chronicling how the parts of California ignored by the elites have been degenerating into geography indistinguishable from parts of Mexico, where a lot of the illegal aliens are coming from.  Assimiliation? Not even a concept to these Johnnie-come-latelies; what’s worse, many of the American citizens there don’t have a clue as to their history and the underpinnings of what made America great – they wait only on the monthly check and hope that the roving bands leave them alone.

Democrats are like Feminists in believing that they can have it all – all it takes is a bit more money from those, as Obama has famously declared “who don’t need it”.  Really, Mr. President – you win election to be our head employee and that gives you the right to say who needs what just on your say so?  How unAmerican is that? Yet, we see from many on the Left that same message; from the rafters, they scream “America is a wealthy nation – why should the poor suffer when these few have more than they should have”?

Problem is, Democrats / Progressives have made three fundamental errors:

As goes California, says the old maxim…

…”so goes America.” Well. I want to say much about the recent election—and the Republican Party, not to mention the New Hampshire GOP—but first…let’s take a look at California! where the Democrats have just won overwhelming political control in the form of super-majorities in the state legislature. As Reason magazine’s Matt Welch says, “let us gaze upon … Read more

The World is NOT Getting Warmer…Mr. President!

Polar-Bear-and-Cubs

Nothing speaks to the cloistered nature of what passes for left wing intelligence like Global Warming.  It is the perfect litmus test.  All you need do is ask and if the respondent sounds like this, you can rest assured that most everything else they know come from the same poisoned well.

What we do know is the temperature around the globe is increasing faster than was predicted even 10 years ago.

This is President Obama, the smartest man in any room, repeating what he thinks he knows to be true.  Unfortunately for the President and those similarly afflicted, not only has the earth not warmed faster than predicted even 10 years ago, it has not warmed at all.

We let Democrats define the terms of our defeat

When Democrats set the terms of the 2012 campaign for state and federal offices, Republican leaders blew their horns about jobs and the economy and counted on their position of strength and the glaring weaknesses in their enemy’s lines to secure victory. Republicans lost because they forgot to tell the troops about the Democratic weaknesses. Democrats took advantage of the oversight and rolled over the field.

Democratic victories last Tuesday quite simply reflected a tactical failure of top-ticket Republicans to defend the party’s message. This wasn’t a failure of Republican principles, but a failure to define and defend Republican principles. Democrats successfully distracted voters with complete fabrications of reality, and Republicans let them do it without response.

Predictably, Republican Party leaders assumed that the people had enough of the social issues and wanted to focus on the economy instead—and by in large, Republicans successfully governed on economic recovery issues during the past two years. Democrats understood the visceral nature of social issues and successfully tarnished liberty as the enemy of their carefully crafted relationship between business and government. Republicans didn’t respond, despite the prescient need. They thought that by ignoring the problem it would go away.

Which Tax Lotto

smoking - what about the tobacco taxes in New HampshireNew Hampshire House Democrats are going to raise taxes and fees, the real fun is which one first and how soon?

My money is on the tobacco tax and I’d be suprised if it didn’t hit the committee table on the first day of the first session and find it’s way to the House floor in record time. Given the somewhat spinless make-up of the Republican caucus in the State Senate, I could not guarantee that it wont just flush through that chamber like s**t through a goose and come out the other side with Maggie Hassan’s signature on it.

The end result will be fewer sales of cigarettes and tobbaco products in New Hampshire.  That’s what happened the last time the Democrats raised the tobacco tax.  And if we need a cautionary tale to guide us on why this will happen again, we can look to the Peoples Republic of Denmark for help.

Because They Voted Where It Matters

College kids bussed to polling places by liberals democrats and UNH ProfessorsBoston.com has an article today observing that pro-obama turnout in New Hampshire’s college towns is less than it was in 2008.  There is very intentional mention of concerns (from folks like myself I assume) about out of state students being used to tip the election; but how no one could ever know how they’d vote, and about the promtion by Democrats of the idea that Republicans were tyring to keep them from voting which is why they should.

So much concern in one tiny little article, complete with deceptions, and a new narrative to plumb.

Well I just happen to have a very workable theory about why turnout in NH College towns was down–something I had not considered checking until now, thank you–and it ties directly to a well worn New Hampshire Democrat excuse about why they support out of state student voting in New Hampshire.

Blogline of the day from Patterico

Another demonstration of Democrat values – sore losers: When good Democrats are pushed to the point where they have no choice but to express their political views by slaughtering a defenseless animal and dumping it at their opponents’ front door — well, it really says something about the GOP. On a post talking about a … Read more

Maggie “Louisville Slugger” Hassan Takes a Swing at The NH Democrats ‘Civility’ Narrative

Maggie the Red Hassan shows us the new civilityAnyone who bought or sold the New Hampshire Democrats bringing ‘Civility’ to Concord narrative has a very short memory, is a complete fool, (an out of state voter domiciled here on November 6th for voting purposes), or just another New Hampshire Democrat–and we’ve said as much time and time again.  They are incapable of civility.

To help us prove our point, before the ink was even dry on the ballots, Governor Elect Maggie “Beat Republicans With a Bat” Hassan was already cackling like the left wing, partisan harpy, she tried to hide during her race for Concord’s highest perch.

You Want The Truth? You Can’t Handle The Truth!

Ballot-BoxComments are often a great source of amusement, and often suitable for follow up material.  In this instance, in response to my post about Legally stealing elections with out of state voters who just happen to be in New Hampshire, an anonymous commenter using the handle “Speak the Truth” suggested that we just let it go.

Move On. We have an enormous task in front of us – “we” have to EDUCATE the public with the TRUTH. “Dumb cannot be solved with Dumber”

Really?

Here is my response,  some “education” about why we can’t move on…

Chasing the Equality Rabbit Down the Democrat’s Debt Hole

Even if it does not appear obvious, even to the casual observer, once government gets started on something it is difficult to get it to stop. So where exactly do we expect the Democrats notions of state managed economic leveling to take us?  Their talk of economic equality centers on the idea that the government not only knows what “is” the best idea of equality but that it can actually deliver it.

Let us assume, even for just a moment, that this can be done at all.  Does anyone in that group of believers think that the government can make us all rich?  Can the government even regulate and tax into existence a nation of middle income householders of adequate means?

To answer this consider the arc of recent spending.  Since 2006 when Democrats took congress, we have added almost seven trillion in debt.  Since Mr. Obama took the White House,we have added six trillion of that. So in just a few years the Democrat party–the people who claim they can deliver economic equality–have added 40% to the national debt.  Forty Percent.

Are things better, more economically equal?

Free Market Gets Water To Hurricane Victims Faster…

Nestle Pure Life Water gets there before FEMA doesThe first supplies of bottled water to arrive to aid those affected by hurricane Sandy did not come from FEMA, which has a large staging area in Georgia stocked with pallet after pallet of bottled water for just such an occassion.  Nestle America, without any coordination with FEMA or any government agency, provided half a million bottles (gratis) to a staging facility in Sommerset New Jersey, long before FEMA even got its water moving.

Re-Elect Jeanie Forrester

Despite years of Democrat condemnation of rich bankers, Senatorial candidate Bob Lamb shows that rich bankers can even be applauded if they parrot Democrat talking points, promote the special interest groups that fund Democrats, and help the Democrat Party extend its control over the lives of the American people.

Describing lawsuits against him and other executives, Lamb says, “these lawsuits never went to trial, and no factual determination was ever made that the allegations were true.” This strange wording proves nothing.  Similar wording, e.g., “no criminal court ever determined that I killed Nicole and Ron” allows OJ to claim innocence.

Lamb seems like a nice guy but he repeats the old Democrat complaints and promises.  Did Democrats improve your life when they controlled the NH Legislature (2007-2010)? E.g., did they fix all the roads and bridges?  No.  But, they raised our cost of living and hurt NH employers with 99 new or increased taxes and fees.

Live Fee Then Die – Say Hello To New Hampshire’s ‘Fee’ Staters?

The left has tried to turn the Tea Party into their boogeyman. But you know what the Tea Party wants?  They think we are taxed enough already.  Stop adding taxes.  Stop spending more money than we take in.  Stop making government cost so damn much that small business can’t hire to pay for what government we actually need.

And the Free Staters just want New Hampshire to keep its small government character.  They, like the Tea Party, prefer local control to being lorded over by the state or federal government.  Government, yes – but as local as it can be and small and efficeint.  And what’s truly funny about the Democrats attacks on the Free Staters is that many of these folks actually agree with Democrats on several issues.  Some of them are Democrats.

Which brings us to Democrats.

Democrats are easy.  More central government, more spending and growth of central government, more command and control, less local control and more taxes and fees to pay for it..  So what do you think?  From now on should we just refer to New Hampshire Democrats as “Fee” Staters?

Confidence Man in Chief

Selwyn Duke at American Thinker gives us more evidence that Mr. Obama is a liar of first resort.  That politics and preservation, the accumulation of power come before all else.  The most recent example is Benghazi and Duke visits that point, but here’s the bit that caught my attention.

Appearing before a mostly black audience and speaking Ebonics-style (despite never having lived in a black community), Obama accused the federal government of showing cruel indifference to the primarily black victims of Hurricane Katrina.
