Republican Leaders Blast Democrat Income Tax Plan

Hey, the economy stinks, New Hampshire is doing better than most but the Obama economy is still grabbing at our legs, so what do you do if you are a New Hampshire Democrat?  Propose an Income tax! (To fund Charter schools!?  Collusion between the Democrats and the State Education board perhaps?)

Republican Leaders Blast Democrat Income Tax Plan
CONCORD – House Majority Leader Pete Silva (R-Nashua) and Deputy Majority Leader and Ways and Means Chairman Stephen Stepanek (R-Amherst) today blasted the newly exposed Democrat income tax plan.  Rep. Peter Sullivan (D-Manchester) filed a bill request (LSR #191) that would establish an income tax in New Hampshire.

Ask Carol Shea-Porter About Tapping Into Wireless Left-Wing Hypocrisy

Warrant-less wiretaps under Obama up 361%Ask Carol Shea-Porter, well–ask any New Hampshire Democrat actually, about warrant-less wire taps.  Remember those?  The Democrats got all wound up about them under a previous president, but lets be honest; it was not because they really gave a damn about your rights or your privacy.

They got wound up because they viewed it as a political opportunity.  They felt that they could win votes and seats (and political power) by bashing George Bush and Republicans on that particular issue if they talked about it enough.

What’s that?  You don’t believe me when I tell you Democrats didn’t really care?  You don’t think it was just about politics and power?  Well why haven’t we heard a word out of them about this issue since Obama came to office?

Or didn’t you know?  According to the ACLUmore people were subjected to pen register and trap and trace surveillance in the past two years than in the entire previous decade.

Terrie Norelli and Sylvia Larsen: Jealous!?

Late in the 2007 session, when Democrats controlled the entire New Hampshire State Government for the first time in 95 years,  then House Speaker Terri “Billion Dollar Deficit’ Norelli and Senate President Sylvia Larsen figured the beginning of a recession was a great time to add a $72,000.00 bathroom remodel onto the backs of taxpayers.  … Read more

Equality of Outcome is Irreconcilable with the Human Condition.

What Democrats suggest they want is not possible.  Equality of outcome is irreconcilable with the human condition.  As long as there is private property someone will always have something more or something  better than someone else.  People are and always will be and come from different circumstances, they will think and behave differently.  And all the things that make them who they are define the nature in which they will approach labor.   And there can be no equality of labor.

Someone will always be better at the same task than someone else.  They might be smarter, faster, stronger, more intellectuality agile, have a better eye, a steadier hand, they may try harder to please, or demonstrate some other acuity that separates them and their performance from others.  And because you cannot mandate the outcome of labor, you can never regulate equality, except to limit it by force, to the lowest common denominator, where the best anyone is permitted to be is the weakest link in the chain.  It is only in this manner that Government can affect an equality of outcome, by force.

Why I may vote Democrat….

Time to vote Dem?

I’m thinking that I may just have to vote Democrat in the upcoming election.

There are many reasons why.

Here are some of them….

1. I may vote Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene…

Microcosm of Nanny State Failure: School Lunch

Being programmed by the state has finally hit kids where they live–in the stomach.  And there is an important lesson to be learned if the kids and their stomachs are listening.  That lesson is this: Federal mandates apply force, limit choices, and result in waste, and that is exactly what has happened thanks to Michelle Obama and her meddling bureaucrats at the USDA etc.

The Government was given broad power to enforce menu standards, limiting calories, and forcing food onto menus that kids simply will not eat.  The result is waste on both sides of the serving line; costs to purchase the mandated foods that cafeteria managers know kids will not eat, the forced increase in the cost of lunches to meet some arbitrary Federal guideline, and then the waste as food that is being forced on students that is thrown away.

This is the alpha and omega of the centrally planned government that Democrats dream of.  And how are the kids responding….

The Free State Project and New Hampshire, “the luckiest state in the history of the United States.”

Thank you, Free State Project, for choosing New Hampshire!
On October 1, 2003 I gave a talk at a press conference in New York city announcing the Free State Project’s choice of New Hampshire. I said at the outset that “New Hampshire is the luckiest state in the history of the United States to be chosen by the Free State Project.” Now, almost nine years later, that statement has been borne out.

As  a very close observer—not to mention participant—in New Hampshire state politics, I can say without reservation that the effect of the Free State Project migration  on our state has been positive. Crucially so in the context of state-level politics. First of all, the state Republican Party would not have been graced by the incredibly positive leadership of Speaker of the House Bill O’Brien and the responsible Republicans around him without the backing of supporters who came out of the Free State Project (it was a very close Speaker’s election, remember).

S.3307 The Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act…Guess Who Voted for It?

Michelle Obama Minister of crappy public school lunches
Eat that spinach…Eat it!

S.3307 (2010) is the legislation that empowered the Feds to regulate local school lunches. It is the regulation that is driving up the cost of school lunches by law because the law demands parity of price regardless of cost. It is the law that limits the number of calories and other nutritional elements to a national standard, regardless of a student’s size or activity level. It is the law that limits menu choices to those defined by the central government, choices kids are rejecting in large numbers, resulting in food being wasted. (Food that costs more because of the law.)

Kids are hungry. High School Athletes are under-nourished. They don’t like or want the food being forced on them. Black markets are forming to fill the need. And food is being wasted.

Let’s face it, Hungry kids do not make good students. This law is a turd sandwich.

So who among the New Hampshire Delegation voted for this crappy central planning nightmare? How about all of them.

Face Plant – So Who Do We Tax After That?

As a followup to this post on Taxing the rich, I did want to point something else out.   Even if you taxed the rich at 100% you still couldn’t pay for even one year of Obama/Democrat spending.  Not even one full year.  And that’s just for running the government, and not a penny toward the 16 trillion dollar deficit.  And yet that is their answer for dealing with the spending problem.

Seeing as the top 5% already pay 90% of all Federal taxes this begs the question, and it’s one you should feel free to ask New Hampshire Democrats as well…If there are no rich, becasue you took all their money,  and we can’t even pay one year of the budget with this one time tax of 100%, then who do you tax to pay for the rest of that year, every year after that, and the 16 trillion dollar deficit after that?

Ask them. (You could also ask them if this would mean the Democrats are shutting down government, ask them who built what, ask them how this much irresponsible spending is not a tax on the middle class–seeing as you can’t pay for any of it without taxing them…use your imagination, they have left you with so many lies there is no shortage of material to work with.)

Ask A New Hampshire Democrat About Taxing The Rich

Ask a New Hampshire Democrat about taxing the richThe distance between left wing rhetoric and reality is wide, particularly on the issue of taxing the rich.  This classic bit of class war rhetoric is used to deflect any deeper inspection of the problem, and the flaws in the Democrat’s solution.  And the flaws are huge.  Immense.  Enormous.  Disqualifying in fact.  So ask a New Hampshire Democrat about taxing the rich.

Remembering Democrat Rule – “Look To The Sky…”

Marjorie Smith NH Democrat
“Look to the sky when estimating revenue – we need the money.”

“Look to the sky when you do revenue estimates because we need the money.”

-Marjorie Smith (D- Durham) Chair House Finance Committee 2007

One month after the supposed start of the ‘Great Recession™’ and just a few months after New Hampshire Democrats historic spending spree, a partisan vote of the General Court’s Joint Facilities Committee increased pay and benefits for 145 members of the legislative staff.  The hike added almost a million dollars on the backs of taxpayers at the beginning of an economic downturn.  More spending without concern for how we’d pay for it.  A trend New Hampshire Democrats would continue into the next session.  An attitude Marjorie Smith (D- Durham), the chair of the House finance committee, would frame with the words “Look to they sky when you do revenue because we need the money.”

Hang on a moment while I add a line to my check register that says I made an extra million dollars this year.  Oh look, time to go shopping!  Shall we proceed?

Seeing The Global Warming Forest For the Trees

Fall Foliage In Fraconia NH
This Years Fall Foliage Should Be Spectacular!

I like to pick on Senator Jeanne Shaheen because she is a left-wing hack, particularly when it comes to Global War-ming. Today’s installment takes us back to her 2008 Senate race during which she claimed, and I quote…(long since scrubbed from her Senate campaign site…)

REVERSE GLOBAL WARMING
Reversing global warming is an economic, environmental and health imperative for New Hampshire. If we don’t act to reverse global warming, New Hampshire’s snow season is projected to shrink by almost 50 percent by mid-century, severely impacting our skiing and snowmobile industries. Increasing temperatures also will negatively impact fall foliage tourism, the hunting and fishing industries, and maple sugar production

Since Greene Shaheen spoke these prognostications, we have had years with record snowfalls, years with record maple syrup production, and as this year comes to a close–one that has already been called one of the hottest years in US history–the NH Tourism industry has some frightening news for us.

Why aren’t they Free?  Because taxpayers are not paying for them, that’s why.  Mr. Redistribution isn’t about to give up money for his campaign just so you can wear his gear.  Although mandatory purchases are not out of the question after the election (should he win).  You can wear it while you look longingly at  … Read more

Where “Grassroots” Can Earn You $100.00/Hour

There’s an ad on Craigslist for professional political workers. (the entire ad is on the jump).

Grassroots solutions, which claims to be a national field organization that is all about helping coordinate grassroots political efforts, is hiring people to help Planned Parenthood of Northern New England do door to door canvassing in the Concord and Manchester Area to promote pro-abortion candidates (women’s health)…that would be Democrats.  You get $100/hour plus gas allowance.

I have a lot of questions.  Like how can it be grassroots if you pay $100.00 per hour?  Or, how is it that Planned Parenthood of Northern New England can afford to run this canvassing campaign but can’t run their business model without my tax dollars?

Notable Quote: A Lesson For Tax and Spend Democrats?

“…Despots we see, do plunder their subjects, though history and experience tell them that, by prematurely extracting the means of profusion, they are in fact devouring the seed-corn from which the future harvest of revenue is to spring.” -Thomas Babington Macaulay

Democrats….

Here's a whole book on the subject....

Now that the New Hampshire primaries are over, and the opposing sides have shaken out, I have a couple or three observations about the Democratic Party and the people in it.

After watching their Presidential campaign ads, watching much of their national convention, and studying the faces and words of those people, I have to say that these people are not the Democrats of yesterday….
