NH 2018 Election Results

As I had posted earlier, I wasn’t able to keep running totals going here in Grok 3.0.  So, as final results come in, I’ll try to put them up (depending on the finishing times). NH Governor: Chris Sununu (Molly Kelly conceded) NH Executive Council: as of 11:30, it looks like this will go to the … Read more

Something Missing Up In Concord…

by Bill Harmon

Newcomer Candidate Jim Kelly is running for State Representative in Hollis (Hillsborough 27). He is a physician, now semi-retired.

Jim’s son came to him in 2010 while attending West Point and told him – the Army needs Doctors. Jim was Commissioned in the US Army in Aug, 2010, and is a Lt. Colonel. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and the UAE in 2015 in support of Operation Spartan Shield. He is now the Deputy Commander for Clinical Services in the NHANG.

This summer, Jim was given a mission.  It came down from the National Guard Bureau that NH needed to improve their medical readiness to above 90%. They were ranked 38th in the country at the time. Just this month it was announced that they are now at 94%, and number 1 in the nation.  That was the mission, and under Jim’s leadership – it was accomplished. And in short time.

It doesn’t stop there why this man would be such an asset in Concord.

Dorothy Piquado – not NH Values

To the Daily Sun,

I’m a little late on this, given that Dorothy Piquado wrote about “The Frugal Four” and Gunstock back in late and early September. I take exception to her premises in both those Letters. The Frugal Four (now Three: Harry Bean, Jon Mackie, and Glen Aldrich) – those Republicans that promised Frugality and to which our NH Constitution explicitly calls out as a necessary ‘Social Virtues Inculcated’ (Article 38):

A frequent recurrence to the fundamental principles of the constitution, and a constant adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, industry, frugality, and all the social virtues, are indispensably necessary to preserve the blessings of liberty and good government; the people ought, therefore, to have a particular regard to all those principles in the choice of their officers and representatives, and they have a right to require of their lawgivers and magistrates, an exact and constant observance of them, in the formation and execution of the laws necessary for the good administration of government.

Apparently, this Democrat candidate for the NH House has never considered this as a necessary and, indeed, requirement of our lawmakers! She merely tosses it off with a throwaway line followed immediately thereafter with the infamous “BUT!” as in “I understand how important it is to be cautious with public funds. However, refusing to invest…”. Alright, she used the more highbrow version of “BUT! – the infamous “However” – so I stand corrected on wording.

The intent is clear – she picks on emotional issues in order to raise your taxes; you know, the anti “Mom and apple pie”. “Only government can handle this” is her message on this and everything else – her priorities but with your money. Sure, you could aid her by voluntarily sending her money but that’s not enough – she demands it as we see with her own words. After all, she was all distraught over the idea of Gunstock being made a private entity (Ask yourself – is owning a ski area a “proper role of government”? I think not as they have too many other things to get right first). And for the “horribilist” idea that a private operator might later close the area, well, there’s a rather simple solution to that – band together voluntarily with others and purchase it yourselves. No, this is not a trite answer I’m offering – but it is to those that only wish to work with other peoples’ money and not their own.

Which is what she wants to do in Concord, and her three joined-at-your-bank-account Democrat accomplices, if their campaign signs are to be believed.

Endorsement – Harry Bean for NH House from Meredith / Gilford

A personal endorsement for Harry Bean for NH House from Gilford / Meredith:

To the Daily Sun,

This Letter is written in support of Harry Bean for the NH House of Representatives to represent the Belknap District 2 residents of Gilford and NH. I served with Harry last year on the Gilford Budget Committee and had many talks about how he sees our town, our State, and our Nation. A quiet man, whose family’s roots in Gilford span back to the 1800s, this veteran is dedicated to this town and to the Principles to which he swore his oath. He understands well the age old issue in politics of needs versus wants having been a long time entrepreneur – he knows how those decisions have affected both his family and those families that his business serves. He knows that “faux” compassion shown by his Democrat opponents, their insistence that “we must invest more” is simply that – just a smooth, silky voiced way to take money away from regular work-a-day families that may be struggling to put food on the table simply so that they can spend it on their “more proper” priorities than what those families would otherwise do.

Common sense – he is that to his core.

Harry Bean – Candidate for NH House in Belknap District 2 (Gilford / Meredith)

To The Daily Sun,

The campaign signs and the mailings of the Democrat candidates for state rep (Gilford/Meredith) speak about “compassion” for county funding. I guess that they are unaware that their Republican counterparts this year overfunded the county by approximately one million dollars. These Democrats are beating their chests about their “compassion” by campaigning to spend even more for public schools, addiction recovery and health care.

What they won’t do is to be honest that your bank account exists to be an open-ended check to go fund their “compassions.” What they don’t seem to have is any real compassion for the fixed and low-income taxpayers who will be footing the taxes for their higher spending. But the Democrats don’t care about them — they only want more for government.

Jeanine Notter, Republican, for NH State Representative in Hillsborough 21

I am seeking my 5th term in the New Hampshire House of Representatives as your Representative from Merrimack, NH and I ask for your vote on November 6th.  My voting record proves that I am a strong, committed conservative. I believe in a smaller, more frugal state government, the sanctity of innocent human life, justice for victims of heinous crimes, 2nd Amendment rights, and traditional values.  I believe we must continue to strive for voter integrity. I respect our flag and love our veterans.

I served on the committee of Science, Technology, and Energy for two terms and State & Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs for the first two terms. I voted no on every bill that would increase taxes or fees and will continue to do so.

“A Democrat for Tim Lord”

On the day that I proudly became a US citizen, I also registered to vote as a Democrat. In 2016, I was saddened and concerned by Donald Trump’s victory. Since then, I have been far more deeply saddened, however, by the viciously negative response to Trump’s victory among so many on the left. I was beyond … Read more

Alan Bershtein – candidate for NH State House, Rockingham County 2 (Candia, Deerfield, Nottingham)

Having spent my entire career in the private sector, I finally have the honor of seeking public office. I have never run for public office before, so this is my first rodeo! I have reached a point in my life where I can devote the time and energy to something for which I truly have great passion. My wife Deirdre and I are empty-nesters. Our home is in the beautiful and bucolic town of Nottingham. I am seeking to represent Candia, Deerfield, and Nottingham in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. My goal is to earn your vote in the September 11th Republican primary and then in the November 6th general election. I am proud to announce my candidacy for state rep in District 2, Gilford and Meredith. I am the third of five generations of Beans named Harry. My family has lived at the same location on Saltmarsh Pond Rd. since 1842.

Together Priscilla and I have enjoyed traveling together over 150,000 miles on our Harley Ultra Classic over the last 10 years.

Keith Erf – candidate for NH State House, Hillsborough County 2 (Weare/Deering)

I’m Keith Erf, candidate for state representative in Weare and Deering. I’m running for State representative to champion limited government. I’ve lived in Weare for 37 years. My wife, Louisa, and I raised four children here where they attended Weare schools.

I started my business, KyTek, in 1991 developing automated systems for the publishing industry. As a small business owner and member of the Weare Finance Committee, I’ve seen firsthand how NH business taxes, property taxes and expanding government negatively impacts our communities. We need representation in Concord that fights for our best interests, limiting government and taxation so current and future generations can afford to live and work in our community.

As a member of the Weare Finance Committee, I look to find a taxpayer-friendly balance between the needs of the town and schools and the costs to our residents. From the vantage point of the Finance Committee I have learned that we need representation in Concord that will avoid legislation that places costs on Weare and Deering requiring us to increase our local property taxes.

Jonathan Mackie – candidate for NH State House, Belknap 2 (Gilford/Meredith)

Jon MackieI am Jonathan Mackie, a Republican seeking to represent Meredith and Gilford in Belknap District 2. I am a lifelong resident of New Hampshire and have lived in Meredith since 1984. My wife Sue and I own and operate Clearwater Campground and Meredith Woods Four Season Camping Area in Meredith.

Although I have not previously served in public office, other experiences have given me a perspective that will serve our citizens well. Working as treasurer of my local church for 10 years showed me the value of dedicated volunteers serving to make a community better. We need to protect the religious freedoms that make this possible. My 20 plus years of running a business and also serving as president of the New Hampshire Campground owners Association for 3 years has given me first-hand insight into the many regulations, fees, taxes, permits and licenses that unnecessarily complicate investing in and operating a business in New Hampshire.

I am running because…
