I am proud to announce my candidacy for state rep in District 2, Gilford and Meredith. I am the third of five generations of Beans named Harry. My family has lived at the same location on Saltmarsh Pond Rd. since 1842.
I have been married to Priscilla for almost 47 years and have three grown children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We also have two cats and a great dane. Together Priscilla and I have enjoyed traveling together over 150,000 miles on our Harley Ultra Classic over the last 10 years.
We started H & P Apartments, a rental business in Laconia, 45 years ago. With the help from my son Harry IV, my grandson Harry V and my daughter-in-law Tina, our business has prospered and has been recognized with a number of “Front Porch” awards from the city of Laconia and the town of Gilford.
Priscilla and I are very involved in our community and enjoy fundraising and helping local charities. I enjoy playing Santa with my wife for the kids in our community at the Laconia Elks and many, many surprise locations while cursing on our Harley in central N.H. for the last 10 years. (Yes in December as long as there is no snow or ice on the roads.) We also have enjoyed helping prepare Christmas dinner for the First United Methodist Church for the past 20 years and the monthly meat raffle at the Laconia Elks for almost five years. Through our arm-wrestling competitions we have raised approximately $35,000 over the last 25 years and donated the money to various organizations like St. Jude, Make a Wish, St. Andres, St. Vincent, the Salvation Army and too many others to name.
Issues of concern and my reasons for running for this office are:
- I want our vets to get the care they need, whether physical or psychological. They have given part of their lives to protect our nation, they deserve the best medical care, and to be treated with dignity.
- Voter integrity: Every citizen’s right to vote must be protected and the value of their vote must be protected against votes from people who aren’t committed to our communities and state. In 2016 there were about 6,000 votes cast in N.H. that could not be connected to anyone who lives here.
- Illegal immigrants: What part of illegal isn’t clear? It makes no sense to let criminal illegal aliens stay in our country.
I, along with Glen Aldrich, Rick Notkin, and Jonathan Mackie are the “Frugal Four;” we are committed to responsible government spending and respecting your rights. We will do everything in our power to protect our American way of life based on the constitutions of the United States of American and of this great State of New Hampshire.
We are asking for your votes in the Republican primary election in September.
