Alan Bershtein – candidate for NH State House, Rockingham County 2 (Candia, Deerfield, Nottingham)

Having spent my entire career in the private sector, I finally have the honor of seeking public office. I have never run for public office before, so this is my first rodeo! I have reached a point in my life where I can devote the time and energy to something for which I truly have great passion. My wife Deirdre and I are empty-nesters. Our home is in the beautiful and bucolic town of Nottingham. I am seeking to represent Candia, Deerfield, and Nottingham in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. My goal is to earn your vote in the September 11th Republican primary and then in the November 6th general election. As I have campaigned door-to-door daily, so many of you have graciously invited me into your homes. It is inspiring to listen to your issues and concerns and this continues to motivate me to be the best representative of our communities.

Professional Career
After earning my bachelor’s degree in accounting from Towson University, I attained the designation of CPA and worked several years in public accounting. I was recruited by The Discovery Channel as their 18th employee and established their accounting and finance department. Eventually, I left Discovery to join my family’s school photography business.
I spent over three decades working in the private sector and we grew that business to serve over 1,000 clients annually and created jobs for over 80 employees. As a result of my professional experience, I am keenly aware of the challenges associated with job creation and running a business. This is one of the reasons I am a Republican.

Core Principles
My core principle is my belief that people and communities flourish most when they are left free to pursue their own dreams. Most folks simply want to be left alone so they can work for the betterment of themselves and their family. By doing so, positive externalities are created that strengthen the community and add to the overall quality of life for everyone.

Regarding public policy, at the top of my list is maintaining the New Hampshire advantage of no income tax and no sales tax. I have eagerly signed several pledges to never vote to increase the tax burden on New Hampshire residents. Additionally, I believe the right to defend oneself and one’s family is a basic human right and I will work fearlessly to protect the Second Amendment.

It is also my firm belief that “the government that governs best, governs least.” My uncompromising commitment to the voters of Rockingham-2 is to work hard and to always vote to maintain the blessings of liberty that we all share as residents of the Granite State.

I am asking for your support and your vote to keep New Hampshire the uniquely special place we all love and cherish. Live Free or Die!
