Too bad, Gov Sununu, you missed having your own by THIS MUCH….

April 30, 2020 Skip

I wrote about S. Dakota Governor Kristi Noem a bit ago and today I got to read this: South Dakota Governor Refused To Implement Stay-At-Home Orders. Her Citizens Throw Her A Parade. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who has decided to buck the trends around the country and refuse to implement stay-at-home orders in her … Read more

Quick Thought – can’t we just assume that ALL long term care facilities are outbreak centers

April 30, 2020 Skip

TMEW, who generally doesn’t get political at all, had one of her few outbreaks herself on the news that there has been “two new outbreaks at Hackett Hill Center and Mountain Ridge Center” (Manchester and Franklin). She exclaimed WHY does it seem they are rolling out these announcement every couple of days; they’re ALL infected … Read more

Got high hopes that Sununu is going to open NH’s economy tomorrow?

April 30, 2020 Skip

I’m betting he doesn’t have the political cojones to undo what he has done and let us adults actually be adults and assess the risks of Life for ourselves. Doing yesterday’s press conference, WMUR clipped this out: Whatever we do we’re going to make sure that we can handle it, and that the system can … Read more

Quick Thought – No water for Merrimack?

April 30, 2020 Skip

Watching WMUR Daybreak and they reported that the Town of Merrimack is “waterless” due to water main break near the Turkey Hill pumping station. Hmmm, usually when there is NO water, regular schools are dismissed and students are sent home. But EVERY student is now being homeschooled, right? And they are ALSO out of water. How … Read more

Quick Thought: caution to the rubes: it’s “assimilation”

April 30, 2020 Skip

Normally I’d title this under Notable Quote but hopefully a Quick Thought will do it: When you progressives say “public-private partnership,” we liberals hear “public-private conspiracy.” -Deidre McCloskey ( Why Liberalism Works: How True Liberal Values Produce a Freer, More Equal, Prosperous World for All) And she means “Classic Western Liberalism” when she says “liberals”. … Read more

“Study: Historic Drop in U.S. Reading and Math Scores Since Common Core ‘Debacle’”

April 29, 2020 Skip

That’s the headline over at Breitbart. Like anyone is really surprised that a system of learning and content that was never really beta tested would have turned out as awful as we all saw it to be? It was Edu-babble supreme and only succeeded in one thing – separating parents from being able to help … Read more

Data Point – the old, the infirm, and COVID-19. Yeah, Freedom, too.

April 29, 2020 Skip

This shouldn’t be a surprise to ANYONE here in NH that has been following the numbers: More than half of the COVID-19 deaths in Europe have occurred in long-term care or nursing home facilities. It is “an unimaginable human tragedy,” Dr. Hans Kluge declared. Europe is not alone. At least one in five deaths recorded … Read more

So what have we learned about COVID-19 and its “management”

April 29, 2020 Skip

Yeah, that graphic says it all. Obviously, critical thinking is being used less and less, too. This post got triggered by one at Instapundit that spoke to things at the national level:

Is a Rebellion Forming Against Governor Sununu From within His Own Party?

April 28, 2020 Skip

I saw the poll that Ed had commented on before (“Massive Majority in New Hampshire Support Authoritarian Government and Willing to Believe Anything Government/Press Tell Them“) and had basically thrown up my hands in horror.

With 2.3 Million Guns Sold in March, NH’s Assault Rep Katherine Rogers Must be Seeking Help

April 28, 2020 Skip

I wasn’t quite sure how to handle this post. Call it a Notable Quote. So a modified fisking. Or, just put it up wholesale. It’s by Larry Keane over at The Truth About Guns and doesn’t really lend itself to the first two. Too long for a Quote and frankly, I wouldn’t be able to add much of value in doing a fisking.

But do you have masks for sale, BJ’s?

I’ve been a “member” for a number of years and I get a lot of emails from them to buy this or that, something else, and this other thing as well. And get their sponsored credit card from time to time. This time, however, was different – partly commonsense and partly a demand:

ReOpenNH Concord Rally – MicroInterview with Marc Abear

April 27, 2020 Skip

Marc used to represent my district (Gilford / Meredith) in the NH House. Like all the others that I interviewed last Saturday, he had come to show his displeasure with how His Excellency (Gov Sununu) was handling this Kung Flu epidemic. Marc, I have come to know, is a well measured, careful, and insightful person … Read more

ReOpenNH Concord Rally – MicroInterview with Elliot Axelman

April 27, 2020April 27, 2020 Skip

Elliot is the proprietor and blogger over at Liberty Block (where he did his own reporting of the Rally) He also ran for the NH House in a special election a wee bit ago (sadly, he was not the winner). He, too, like most of the attendees, argues his points against His Excellency (Gov Sununu) … Read more

ReOpenNH Concord Rally – MicroInterview with Tom Ploszaj

April 27, 2020 Skip

Tom has been appearing in the comment section of GraniteGrok for a while now and we’ve met in person a few times here and there. He’s now taking the step, after seeing what the Democrats have done and the ignoring of passed laws with respect to what our Constitution allows, to run for the NH … Read more

Govt: curing the disease but ignoring the cost of the cure?

April 26, 2020 Skip

I’m getting to the point that the next time a medical person says that we can’t open our economies until a cure is found because WE DIDN’T ELECT YOU MEDICAL TECHNOCRATS to govern; speak your opinion – that’s your right, but I REFUSE to be governed by your opinion and your opinion only. This is now a multi-dimensional problem and you’re only yammering about one aspect of it.

ReOpenNH Concord Rally – MicroInterview with Dan Hynes

April 26, 2020 Skip

Another person that was roaming around the State House lawn before the ReOpenNH rally started was lawyer Dan Hynes. Like all the others, he had his reason for being there contra Governor Sununu’s stay-at-home orders; in order to exercise his First Amendment Right to Free Speech.

ReOpenNH Concord Rally – MicroIntervew with Pam Ean

April 26, 2020 Skip

Even though I have known her for years, I didn’t recognize Pam at ALL at last week’s ReOpenNH Rally at the State House in Concord – I guess the Govt’s demand (and for more, more about commonsense on my part) to be masked up is creating an “anonymous” society as no one knows who you … Read more

Palate Cleanser – “Quarantine!” by Home Free

April 27, 2020April 26, 2020 Skip

Heh! I used to watch this group on a show called “The Sing Off” – an acapella singing competition that ran for a few years a few years ago now. They were pretty good then but this semi-cover and adaption of “Honesty” just hits the spot: (H/T: DCE over at Weekend Pundit)

For Us to Have Faith in Our Government, They Must Also Have Faith in We the People Do you have faith in your government? Any level at all? And DO you think Government trusts you? Any level at all? (H/T: RedState)

Yep, two Coronavirus dogs are protesting

April 25, 2020 Skip

Yeah, I can feel their pain as one discredited Democrat leader used to say. Imagine that – even dogs have feelings and routines and hate to have them disturbed. Especially if they’ve been used to having the run of the house during the day when their masters / owners are now home all day long: … Read more
