But do you have masks for sale, BJ’s?

by

I’ve been a “member” for a number of years and I get a lot of emails from them to buy this or that, something else, and this other thing as well. And get their sponsored credit card from time to time.  This time, however, was different – partly commonsense  and partly a demand:

The safety of our team members, members and our community is always our top priority. As public health guidance has evolved, we are now encouraging members to wear face coverings when they shop at our clubs if able to do so. We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our team members, members and communities healthy and safe.

Many states and localities require that consumers wear face coverings when shopping. If you are shopping at a BJ’s Wholesale Club in a location where a mask or face covering is required by law, you will be required to wear one.

Here in NH, we’re not in a State that REQUIRES one (even as candidate for NH’s Executive Council and NH’s title of Snitch-in-Chief, Mindi Messmer is acting like we are) so we don’t fall under BJ’s edicts in this regard.  However, other States do and it is common sense for many especially for TMEW and I who are in that more “vulnerable community” category. I’m the only one that goes out for once every 2 weeks for errands (masked and gloved) and TMEW only goes out for her knee physical therapy (thanks for asking – she’s where she should be and only has a few more “degrees of knee bend” to make the “I’m satisfied with your progress” two month goal).

However, I read their BJ’s “Response to Coronavirus” (link above) and much of it has to do with keeping us and their staff safe: cleaning, distancing, signage, utilization, etc.  Masks were part of that and they said they are supplying their staff with masks.

I dryly note that while they want US, their consumers to enter in only with masks, and they are providing their staff with masks, it hit me:

I’ve never seen any masks sold in a BJ’s. So, I’ve asked the stupid question:

So, do you have any to sell so we can live up to your request?

After all, they sell all kinds of stuff, amirite? Some of this was meant in just but some of me is quite serious. If you want me to wear a mask, make them available. Especially for those you are making special hours shop.

In reading their FAQ, nothing like that was stated or implied. Just sayin’…

I’ll let you know if they respond.

UPDATE: That was quick – they sent me another email asking that I buy some of their stuff. None, unfortunately, were masks. I’ll keep waiting.
