Yeah, that graphic says it all. Obviously, critical thinking is being used less and less, too. This post got triggered by one at Instapundit that spoke to things at the national level:
Top Ten Surprising Consequences of Covid-19 Hysteria:
1: Democrat governors rediscover federalism.
2: Wanna-be totalitarians can’t help but unmask themselves.
3: Trump gets a daily platform to smack the media around (watched by millions).
4: The CDC is exposed as just another dysfunctional gov. agency.
5: FDA, same as above.
6: WHO, same as FDA, CDC.
7: The US media is in China’s pocket.
8: “Models” completely useless except to frighten citizens.
9: We now know Nancy Pelosi has a $24,000.00 fridge.
And the 10th most surprising consequence of the Covid-19 hysteria? Donald Trump was right about China the whole time, and everybody who didn’t know it before knows it now.
So, what about NH? In no special order:
- The goalposts keep moving:
- None of us knew what was happening at first.
- Then it was all about flattening the curve
- Keep from overwhelming the hospital system
- Now it’s all about what’s going on in other States – like the one to our south that Sununu keeps yammering about. Talk about Intersectionality!
- Now we’re getting Phased for opening?
- Social distancing became a thing
- Masks weren’t a thing in the beginning (see CDC above, and WHO claimed it couldn’t be passed human to human) and now they’re almost mandatory (if we listen to Mindi Messmer, candidate for NH Exec. Council and vying to be Snitcher-in-Chief). When was the turning point of respecting other’s behaviors (live and let live) to “Ratting out: a way of life!”.
- Speaking of Messmer – is the veneer of NH traditions that our population is so willing to snitch on people at the drop of a sneeze or cough? Have we raised a population that never grew out of being Junior High hall monitors?
- It seems that most of our Educational system turned (mostly) on a dime to go to Remote Learning; Commissioner Frank Edelblut deserves a lot of praise for getting the “useless stuff” out of the way and getting “needed stuff” (best as possible) into place. So, too, are a lot of teachers who are trying hard to make things work. I know that Michael Dennehy reported his disatisfaction but the teachers (Allison, Kelsey, Kristin) for our special needs child have been exemplary in working all kinds of hours and getting technical kinks worked out. Your mileage may vary.
- Lockdowns happened, people and businesses found out quick who Government thought was “needed” and who could be “tossed” (Essential vs Non-essential). We went from BOOM! to ZILCH in 4 weeks flat.
- Government-issued those lockdown orders thinking they were helping only to find out that Govt systems (aka, Unemployment) weren’t helpful at all. Imagine, the Feds churned out millions of checks while NH could hardly deal with thousands. Way to go in overpromising and underdelivering
- “Live Free or Die” is now not even a marketing blub. Contrary to what many natives and transplants-who-came-here-because-of-it believed, it has now been hollowed out.
- Govt does a lousy job in showing / displaying / visualizing the data. Leave it to the private sector and individuals to grab it and do a far better job.
- Speaking of data, why have we switched from quarantining the healthy instead of the ill and “vulnerable”?
- And speaking of data – why is Sununu treating all of the State the same as the MA border towns in the Southeast? Talk about ham-fisted.
So, that’s the 30 second list off the top of my head. Go ahead, explore your own in the comments!
