Election Day Open Thread

Welcome to that thing we can only hope will put an end to the internet asking us if we’re voting because we voted. Or reminding us to register and vote. Or, well – you know the drill. So, it’s the big day, and we want you to share your observations with us.

Down on the Plantation

Down on the Plantation

Was Biden’s gaffe of the week a down on the plantation threat? This week we heard Uncle Joe Biden’s comment, “… You ain’t black if you’re not votin’ fer me…” Was this a reflection of more than Biden personally? Was this another forgivable Bidenism or was it something else?

NH Vote-By-Mail Democrats would rather you forget about Wisconsin

All we are going to hear from the NH Democrat Party is yammering about how DARE we, not all do mail-in voting (er, don’t pay attention to that “ballot harvesting” technique behind the smoke and curtain). And how DARE you put people at risk for simply wanting to exercise their Constitutional Right to vote!

GrokPOLL

GrokPOLL : How Soon Should We Re-Open New Hampshire?

If you ask the folks around here, when should we open New Hampshire, many of them will say, no one had the authority to “close it.” That’s true, but we don’t live there, we live here. And while His Excellency has a plan to slow roll us back, not everyone agrees that’s the best way.

Vote voter

Whiney privileged Millennial: America doesn’t want me to vote because it’s too hard!

If it’s not handed to them on a plate, or inconveniences them is some way, IT’S A PLOT AGAINST THEM!  The notable part from this Treehugger post about the inhumanity that she has actually do some homework (reformatted, emphasis mine).

…The U.S. didn’t seem to want me to vote…People complain that young people don’t vote. But America makes voting hard for young people. You have to register ahead of time. You have to figure out all the particular complicated rules for documentation and registration, which vary by state. And as an early career employee, you have to convince your boss to let you take time off work to actually go to the polls. Young people are more likely to move around, meaning they have to either re-register or figure out the complications of absentee ballots.

Go read it all at the link. Be assured however, that I was very surprised in that it did not go well for Llana Strauss – the enviro-Collective there pretty much had their way with her in almost all of them agreeing she was, indeed, whiney.  These lines, I though were rather delicious:

Voting Enthusiasm Poll: A combo of “They have brought us upon themselves” and

The Law of Unintended Consequences with Obama’s (yes, he’s still a thing) “I won”?  US Senate Democrats (along with loose coordination with their allies in the MSM and Progressive organizations) have overplayed their hand with the absolutely disgusting tactics they have used against Judge Kavanaugh and other Conservatives (e.g., made up allegations that can’t be … Read more

Get Off Your Ass and Vote!

Welcome to the New Hampshire Primary. It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been poked and prodded for our thoughts since before January. We’ve made an endorsement or two and posted op-eds from a number of candidates for races around the state. And today is the day.

Democrats are expected to come out in force to pick their candidates. Republicans are expected to do their nails and wash their hair or binge watch something on Netflix. It’s just a primary, after all.

My suggestion? Get off your ass and vote.

Illegal Aliens, Devious Politicians, and Hidden Agendas

As the mid-term election approaches, the subject of illegal immigration is again heating up. The two major parties, once in general agreement on the issue, now have diametrically opposing views. Republicans want to eliminate illegal immigration, while welcoming legal immigrants. On the other side, Democrats are resisting all efforts to control our borders. Though they … Read more

WTF: Senate Republicans – Losing is Winning

It was a busy week for the call sign Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. We had five or six solid contenders. But did this one take the crown? Senate Republicans fumble a show-vote on the Iran Treaty then declare a day later that losing is winning.

Not all but most towns in New Hampshire are voting today.  Please make time to get out and vote, and if possible, bring some neighbors with you. Just do it!

Romney does not have a mathematical road to victory

My unexpected guests have left, the ‘Grok dogs have had some attention paid to them, hopefully the laptop problems have gone to sleep.  Long nite ahead, so time to see what polls are doing.  Pretty much will just update this post with observations, pithy words, and anything else considered “election kitchen sink”.

Interesting way to think about it:

One of the claims was that he had a “first-class temperament.” And I was thinking, yesterday, “That’s possibly the thing I like least about Obama — his temperament.” His big-government policies are bad enough. But the temperament? “Mitt Romney: Not one of us,” and all that? I think he’s a nasty and divisive figure.

Mitt Romney — there’s a first-class temperament, come of think of it. At least I have that impression. If he has four years in the White House, we’ll see.

I believe that Obama hates the likes of us — Reagan conservatives. I believed the same about Al Gore. I remember saying during the 2000 campaign, “I’d rather be stranded on a desert island with Bill Clinton for a year than have a brief, delicious lunch at the Four Seasons with Al Gore.” You could tell that Al Gore hated you: It was on his face and in his tongue. Joe Lieberman, I felt, did not hate you. Hillary did. Kerry did. John Edwards loved himself, mainly, I thought.
