San Fran: Don’t Call them Felons!

San Francisco is at it again, this time issuing new guidelines on what to call felons, parolees, addicts, and juvenile delinquents.  The property crime capital of the US is again more interested in protecting feelings than solving problems.

The Fork in the Road

The Democrat presidential hopefuls are a Marxist lot. Even Joe Biden agrees they are all socialists. They are willing not only to accept but to promote open borders, cancelled college debt, tax-funded health care for illegal aliens and the Green New Deal… all without a thought to affordability. They want to eliminate private health insurance, … Read more

Warren Wants AOC Responsible for Your Retirement

Before the Welfare State

Democrats, socialists like AOC and Bernie and others in their party, are content to sit amidst the bounty provided by capitalism, in a comfortable hall, before a crowd of paid ticket holders tearing into capitalism. They call the system that has raised 80% of the globe from extreme poverty since 1980 “irredeemable” while ranting against … Read more

At Least We’ll Be Rid of the Kale Smoothies

Kale shakesLast night Skip shared a bit of liberal mythology he tripped over at Tree Hugger which struck me as curious. The perp in chief of that ongoing serial fiction got his jimmies rustled over the width of the sidewalks in New Utopia.  That’s where we’ll all be living. In cities, all happy together. But we can’t get there from here with sidewalks that are not wide enough for at least two kale-smoothie slurping hippies to travel side-by-side. That just won’t do.

My first thought was that, if anything, big, sprawling, urban heat islands with or without kale-smoothie slurping hippies (in any”forward” moving formation) are actually man’s most meaningful contribution to warming any part of the planet and why would an enviro-wacko concerned about the planet want more of that?

Jonah caught the stupid point – ignored the far more important point

Far be it for me to correct NRO’s Jonah Goldberg, best selling author of TWO books on Progressives (“Tyranny of Cliches” & “Liberal Fascism“) when commenting on something in the news, but I think he went for the “ha-ha” and missed the “ewwww”:

From the Washington Post’s profile of Bloomberg:

NEW YORK — Michael Bloomberg, America’s most prominent and deep-pocketed advocate for gun control, would rather rehabilitate Republicans than oust them.

“Somebody got them the way they are now,” the mayor of New York said in a recent interview as he sat in the bullpen offices of City Hall, surrounded by a buzzing staff, blinking Bloomberg terminals and clocks telling the same time in each of the five boroughs. “Why can’t you change them?”

Who knew that the worst part of crossing the Brooklyn Bridge is the jet lag.   I wonder if the mayor has ever said something like, “I’ve got to call the Queens Borough president. What time is it over there?”

Hmm, what caught my eye was much worse than an ignorant reporter (the WaPo dude, not Jonah that caught him being stupid) – bringing the “ewwww” factor:

Which Utopian Democrat Dream-Scam Is Failing Faster?

Facepalm - Which Progressive Utopia will fail firstWhich Utopian dystopian Democrat dream-Scam is failing faster?

In Cah-Lee-Four-Knee-Ah the Workers paradise is collapsing at an ever increasing rate as the anchor of unsustainable public union contracts and pensions drag otherwise average, every-day, incompetently run, but barely sustainable left wing bureaucrapalities (bureaucratically strangled municipalities run by an endless string of administrators and political descendents of the Democrat bloodline) into bankruptcy.

In Obamaville, the chronically unemployed can look up from the gutters of Hopey-changey Way to watch the lights dim on an unending string of Solar Panel/Green Energy company failures as the DoE’s wasted-billions to prop up the Renewable Energy Utopia ding-bats like Jeanne Shaheen have oversight on, produce nothing but failure and rising debt service payments.

The missing link between these two is happily not missing.  And you cant blame George Bush.  These failures are both of products of Progressives, mostly Democrats, attempting to micromanage labor, its type, direction, output, and value.

Will people of Faith stand up to defend that Faith?

The beginning of this extremely well done video lays out the call to Catholics to help protect their faith and their values:

In generations past, the Church has always been able to count on the faithful to stand up and protect her sacred rights and duties. This generation of Catholics must do the same.

Now I am an evangelical Protestant, not Catholic, so there are theological points on which we will never agree upon.  That said, I believe that there is a message here for Bible believing Christians who take their faith seriously and personally (i.e., not a “back row Baptist” or a “country club Christian”) as well as to Catholics.  I do believe that Obama, as with many Progressives, see a personal faith as being a hindrance to implementing Bigger Government -they realize that in order to have fealty to government, there must be no nothing “above” Government.
