San Fran: Don’t Call them Felons!

by

San Francisco is at it again, this time issuing new guidelines on what to call felons, parolees, addicts, and juvenile delinquents.  The property crime capital of the US is again more interested in protecting feelings than solving problems.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported

The words “felon,” “offender,” “addict,” and “juvenile delinquent” would be part of the past in official San Francisco parlance under new “person first” language guidelines adopted by the Board of Supervisors.

More leftist insanity from California and San Francisco, the city that has it’s own Poop Map.

The new guidelines describe the previous words as “only serv[ing] to obstruct and separate people from society and make the institutionalization of racism and supremacy appear normal… Inaccurate information, unfounded assumptions, generalizations, and other negative predispositions associated with justice-involved individuals create societal stigmas, attitudinal barriers, and continued negative stereotypes.”

Here’s the new language:

Felon = “Formerly incarcerated person,” or “Justice-involved person,” or best yet “returning resident”;

Juvenile Delinquent = “young person with justice system involvement,” or “young person impacted by the juvenile justice system”;

Drug Addict = “a person with a history of substance abuse”;

Parolees, those on Probation = “person on parole,” or “person under supervision”;

Good news for those in San Francisco, your local government has the rampant property crime under control.  Err – can it still be called crime?
