Portsmouth Bans Styrofoam?

New Hampshire is a Dillon Rule State, not a Home Rule one.  This means, only the legislature can pass laws, unless they’ve passed a law the ‘enables’ municipalities to create their own.  These must be specific enabling statutes, such as the one that enables planning boards. RSA 673:1 –  “I. Any local legislative body may … Read more

Load of Crap! NHBR Piece Claims NH Seacoast Property Values Suffering from Sea Level Rise

The New Hampshire Business Review has an Op-Ed by Dan Weeks. Weeks is a co-owner and director at ReVision energy in Brentwood (Portland ME, Liberty ME, North Andover MA, etc.). They claim to be the number one rooftop solar installer in New England, which might make them the number one recipient of the federal money that props up their industry in New England.

Concerns About The 10-Year Mental Health Plan For New Hampshire

Last night I attended a meeting in Portsmouth with the New Hampshire Commissioner of Health and Human Services on the state’s 10-Year Mental Health Plan.  It was clear from the comments at the end of the presentation, from parents and other attendees dealing with serious mental health issues, that this issue is raising concerns throughout New Hampshire. … Read more

Sea ice annual extent

Arctic Ice Death Spiral Looks a lot like the Sea Level Rise Death Spiral – Not Much to See

We haven’t tweaked the Climate Cult nearly enough of late so here’s some ice to chew on. It’s the NOAA passive microwave dataset. This method of measurement shows the approximate annual Arctic sea-ice extent at the top of the world.

As you can see predictions of an abrupt and unstoppable ice-free Arctic appear exaggerated compared to this dataset. Yes, there was ice loss. From 1994 to 2007 the arctic ice cap shrank by 1.537 M km2. That’s almost thirteen percent.  But since 2007 the reduction is only 0.081. That equates to almost no change in a decade.

Despite this lack of change in “climate” at the north pole the calamity of declining sea-ice continues to plague us. A non-issue parallel to the repeated rantings over sea-level rise – because they are connected don’t you know.

The Climate “Theocracy” Consensus in Portsmouth, NH

Al_Gore_Fire bannerThe sort of folks who rant about the coming right-wing theocracy break ideological bread with the fundamentalist-environmental movement which gets us right to the point. The Portsmouth City Council is aflutter over a “climate conference” at which, to their surprise, Bjorn Lomborg would be a participant.

Lomborg believes in Global warming, the man-made sort, but not enough. He’s something of a heretic to the faith depending on whom on the Portsmouth City Council you ask.

Democrat “Living Wage” Continues to Wipe Out Trendy Restaurant Scene That Can’t Afford It.

Portsmouth restaurantEmployees and employers have this thing they do where they agree to the value of any given individual contribution to an operation. Left to its own devices the job market and the free market will find parity not just in costs but prices.

It’s a beautiful thing and it works. But Democrats can’t leave anything alone.

They are obsessed with using the government to meddle. Intrusions that result in outcomes opposite to those advertised.

Out-Of State Group Behind Portsmouth Bag Ban Will Keep Pushing Their Agenda

reusable-grocery-bagsMonday we reported on an attempt by elements in the City of Portsmouth to advance another plastic bag ban. Yesterdaythe Portsmouth City Council postponed a vote on the ban pending review by the City Manager.

It is unclear what the city manager can do. There is no legislative support or enabling legislation. Correspondent Kimberly Haas from the Union Leader adds that the city reached out to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and the Waste Management Division but could not get anyone to take a favorable position. The State attorney general’s office is not biting either.

No one is prepared to give Portsmouth a leg to stand on, but out-of-State interests won’t let that stop them.

Voter fraud teaser

All we wanted was to simply see the November 6, 2012 checklist from the City of Portsmouth, NH.  Is that such a crime?  Not really , but when a CNHT pal went to Portsmouth City Hall to look up a name on the checklist, the answer was that the checklist had too much personal information on it for public review so, sorry, NO!

I wasn’t aware that checklists in Portsmouth, NH were so secretive.

The NH Secretary of State’s Office must be behind the times regarding the new law in Portsmouth. They still think checklists are public.

Just last year I did a CNHT Voter Fraud Workshop at the library in Portsmouth and a whole crew of Portsmouth election officials showed up. Like many other election officials they will parrot the line that there is no voter fraud in New Hampshire. And Portsmouth, being a very liberal city, should know about that, right?

Upcoming Obama Portsmouth Visit Angers Parents -Schools Will Have To Close [Updated]

Obama visit to Portsmouth NH will cause schools to closePortsmouth has announced that it will cancel school on Friday to accommodate President Obama’s visit.  The presence of dear leader will clog up traffic, block roads, and result in building closures so the district has thrown in the towel.  They will have to make the day up In May.

This is not a decision in a vacuum.  When kids stay home adults have to rearrange their lives.  Work, appointments, the added cost for unplanned day care if they can’t change plans or skip work when Obama stops buy to campaign, it all adds up.  Not that Obama gives a damn.  His campaign isn’t going to pay for any of the other costs his campaign appearances force upon local tax-payers.  Campaign appearances….paid for by taxpayers.

Has anyone estimated how much the campaign stop will cost the city of Portsmouth?
