Yesterday, I did something I hadn’t done in years – I went kayaking with my son. Actually, I used to go white-water rafting with him all the time and never actually kayaked with him so yesterday was a first. It was also the first time I had kayaked in a river that was a mix of fresh and salt water – the Piscatagua River in Portsmouth.
It felt great to be out with nature and literally a breath of fresh air to be away from all of the insanity going on in our world.
I highly, highly suggest everyone do the same thing, not kayaking if that’s not your thing, but just getting out there. So many of us have been stuck at home, working remotely (thankfully, I still have a job, I must add) without the normal human interactions that we have that it is great to get out and just breathe.
You don’t have to spend money, you can go on a hike. New Hampshire has a gazillion hiking trails across the state that are amazing. Or maybe you prefer mountain biking. Or maybe you just want to hang out on the beach and put your toes in the sand and smell the ocean air while being lulled by the waves crashing on the beach.
Too many of us are so wrapped up in the insanity of the world that we don’t take a minute to just stop and enjoy life. I know, I’m one of them.
Today was a reminder of everything that is great about life. It was a reminder to cherish the ones you love and cherish what is around you, despite the insanity in the world.
Hug your loved ones. Live your life. Hang out with your friends.
Take a break. You deserve it.
I realize this is the complete opposite of my regular programming of calls to action or smashing political hacks in New Hampshire but everyone needs a break. Especially all of you who actually help fight for what is right in the Granite State.
Have some fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop and smell the flowers.
