Mike Sylvia NHGOP Convention

NH GOP Convention – GrokInterviews: NH State Rep Mike Sylvia

In roaming the Pinkerton Academy auditorium, I bumped into NH State Rep Mike Sylvia from Belmont. He also agreed to a quick interview with the same short question: “what do you expect to see as the end results?” We also ended up finding a bunch of empty NH GOP voting ballots that were…just sitting there, … Read more

The NH GOP held its annual Convention on Saturday, 1/26/19 at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH. I have taken a few snippets from the proceedings as a recounting of the event. NH GOP Convention – Gov. Chris Sununu

On Jan 26, the NH GOP held its annual meeting / convention and this year it was at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH.  We brought all new equipment for all kinds of purposes and to be truthful, not all of them worked out as planned.  So, we have some action items written up so that … Read more

At the 2019 Annual NH GOP Convention, I caught up with educational activist, current Chair of the Womens’ Defense League of NH, and NH GOP Committee Member (and Grokster!) Michelle Levell. GrokTV – Interview with new NH GOP Chair, Steve Stepanek

Steve Stepanek was overwhelming elected (300-81) to be the NH GOP Chair by the assembled NH GOP Committee members during their annual convention (held at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH). Even as he was trying to leave the auditorium for a meeting (just elected – already with the meetings!), he graciously took a few moments with … Read more

What Makes a Good NHGOP Chairman?

I was sitting with Secretary of State William Gardner yesterday discussing the 2018 election. He is very concerned with manner in which the Democrats fought this last election. They created Political Action Committees (PAC) upon PACs, designed to obscure the source of the money, most of which was from out of State. They began their … Read more

My personal tale on Keith Hanson

For the record, I have talked to Keith about the problem with the NHGOP in the past. I agree that the problems are systemic and inbred; many of you have heard me say the phrase “Five Families” (you can figure out the reference). My memory goes back to the legitimate election of Jack Kimball as NH … Read more

The 603 Alliance held an event last night at the Nackey Loeb School of Communications in Manchester to thank both the Liberty and Constitutionally minded candidates that ran for the NH House as well as all of the folks that helped all those candidates.  As you will see later on, everyone admitted that it was … Read more

“Eversource balks at state law ordering it to buy wood power”

“The battle over biomass is far from over. Eversource now says it will not purchase power from the state’s wood-burning power plants despite a state law requiring such purchases, unless it is ordered to do so by the Public Utilities Commission. The decision by the state’s largest utility, revealed in a Dec. 4 filing with the PUC, … Read more

Once again, Republicans refuse to stand up for…..Republicans

You can be sure that if this was on the other foot, that it was a Republican that had won with “uncertain” residency credentials, NH Dem Party Chair would be threatening to bomb the Hague NH State Senate chambers. But once again, we see limpness of elected Republican spines in the face of confrontation (reformatted, emphasis mine):

There’s no chance Republican senators will challenge the credentials of newly elected Democrat Jon Morgan, according to Sen. Chuck Morse, R-Salem, who will serve as Republican minority leader when the Senate reconvenes for the new year. As far as Republicans are concerned, the matter was settled when Morgan’s opponent, Republican incumbent Bill Gannon of Sandown, withdrew his complaint to the Ballot Law Commission just before its Monday meeting, Morse said. Gannon’s challenge, based on constitutional residency requirements, conjured memories among some longtime political observers of a case involving Gov. Sununu — not the incumbent, but his father, Gov. John H. Sununu, who served from 1983 to 1989.

I really don’t care about the Papa Smurf historical anecdote except for one thing he has common with Trump: he fights.  Chuck Morse comes out looking like a beta male in this.

BlogQuestion of the Day: “2020 starts now, Skip”

We helped Democrats rack up historic victories in 2018 — taking back the House, flipping key state legislative chambers, and picking up governors’ mansions and Senate seats. The reason we won all of these races is that grassroots donors invested in these races early, and helped build a foundation for victory.

That’s the title and part of the message of yet another email missive I got from the Democrat National Committee (as an Independent, they’ve glommed onto my email address, along with almost every other Democrat group and candidate – DELUGED with email these past few months. Jus’ askin’.  Look, I’m only 1 guy in a very small State with only 1 vote.  So why are the Democrats so hungry and already reaching out?  And it isn’t just from the DNC, either!  Yet:

So why haven’t the Republican apparatuses done the same? With the same frequency and intensity?

Quick Thought – another thing on the NH GOP’s “we’ve done this to ourselves” list

The Tennessee Star picked up something that I had written at the very end of this post:

If the NH Republican Party wants to win, and win Consistently, act like you believe in the Platform.  Speak like you do and at each and every turn.  Vote like you do at each and every opportunity.  And Legislate like there’s no tomorrow because two days ago was that “no more tomorrow” – and you blew it

It’s another way to combine two of my favorite memes”

Quick Thought – If it wasn’t for double standards, they’d have no…

Well, you know what the rest of that line is, right? I do agree with Jon that money is not the root of the NH GOP problems – but it is rather easy to point to as an overall symptom:

The silver lining is a timetable in which the membership of the Republican State Committee picks a new chairman in late January. Incumbent Wayne MacDonald of Derry took over a party last July that had $650 in the bank, $14,000 in bills and $48,000 in long-term debts.

“This isn’t any one person’s fault, especially Wayne, who was handed a bag of crap at the 11th hour,” posted Jon DiPietro, a conservative activist from Manchester. “But we had better get it fixed. There’s a presidential election in two years and it’s going to be here in the blink of an eye.”

Why, what is the problem here?  His immediate predecessor was Jeanne Forrester – and he was the Vice-Chair so he knew about the problem.  Now, the point of this post is not Wayne.  It IS about

Whaddya mean, the Senate is going to pursue a Dem agenda? Jeb Bradley’s been doing it for them for years

We’re going to be amplifying what Steve all but said over the next two years because once again, Republicans can’t seem to get out of their own way even when they’re winning.  This from the UL tells part of the story:

NH Senate flips, Democrats to pursue new agenda

Progressive topics like paid family and medical leave, a minimum wage hike and legalizing recreational marijuana will get a new lease on life with Democrats taking control of the state Senate for the first time in a decade….“They voted for paid family and medical leave, access to affordable health care, resources to combat the opioid crisis, and to continue supporting our local public schools. Congratulations to the Senators-elect, welcome to the Senate, and thank you for answering the call to serve your district.”

And then Jeb Bradley decided to open his yap, never understanding that he’s part and BIG parcel of the problem the NH GOP faces:
