I’m not sure what the outcome will be of the suit to suspend the new Voter ID and domicile requirements in New Hampshire, but if the four out of state college students somehow succeed, I would like to suggest that we move to refund them the difference between in-state and out-of state tuition.
If they have the right to vote in New Hampshire then they are entitled to in-state tuition rates. It’s the only fair thing to do. They can just bring a copy of their approved voter registration form, a waiver, or other document…something scribbled on a napkin or the back of an envelope perhaps, to their campus administrative offices for a refund of the difference, annually.
UNH will squawk but think of all the jobs this will create. If, as Nancy Pelosi said, every dollar the government spends on unemployment compensation results in $1.78 going back into the economy, imagine how many jobs we can create in New Hampshire with thousands of college students wandering around the Granite state with massive tuition refund checks to spend every year?
It’s a win for New Hampshire. And if the judge suspends the ID law, I say we push hard to make this happen.
