What Is Likely To Happen With Gun Control Following The Midterms?

By Sam Bocetta

2018 has been notable for many reasons in regards to the political landscape, but something very notable about this election cycle is how gun control has taken center stage to the point that it’s become a chief focal point of many campaigns for local, state, and Federal offices.

The reason for this is simple: the push for gun control is much stronger this year than it has been in years previously.  Whereas guns used to be a ‘side issue’ so to say, now they are undoubtedly a front and center issue for the 2018 midterms.

But the real question is this: since gun control is now officially one of the hottest political topics in the political arena, what is likely to happen concerning the issue once the midterms are over and we have a new Congress in January?

If Elected, NH Democrats PROMISE to Push Massive Gun Control

On Saturday, Democrats hosted the “Godfather of Gun Control,” Michael Bloomberg, founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Moms Demand and Everytown for “Gun Safety.” Bloomberg was in the Granite State to endorse selected gun control candidates for the November elections. While Bloomberg supports all Democrats, he specifically is endorsing the following for their extreme gun … Read more

Bloviating Billionaire Bloomberg Pushes Gun Control Democrats in NH

On Saturday, the “Godfather of Gun Control,” New York City billionaire Michael Bloomberg, spoke at a “Moms Demand” event in Nashua to push several hardcore gun control candidates for the November election. All candidates are Democrats, of course, and Bloomberg’s visit is thought by some to be a glimpse of a possible presidential run in … Read more

Quick Thought – On the fallacy of “Self-described Experts” by Maura Sullivan (Democrat Carpetbagger in CD-1)

New WMUR logowhich “Supply Sullivan” wants us to swallow: hook, line, and trigger. I haven’t watched the WMUR debates yet but will do so because, well, I should.  Still, this sound byte from their News caught my ear (emphasis mine):

“I believe the veterans in Congress are going to lead on this because we have an unassailable credibility when it comes to guns. And we can say on the House floor, we used these in Iraq, people used them in Afghanistan. They don’t belong in Manchester and they don’t belong in Hampton. they don’t belong anywhere in this country.”

-Maura Sullivan

No, you don’t.  This is the falsehood by a “in Supply” dud who

Kittery Trading Post Protest: Ignorance Rules the Day for the Gun Control Crowd

Today, two pro-gun control organizations decided to protest Kittery Trading Post (KTP) in Kittery, Maine. Their beef with KTP? In the gun shop, semi-automatic rifles are sold. Of course, neither “Resistance Seacoast” or “Kittery Trading Post Action Group” know exactly what a semi-automatic rifle is but that doesn’t stop them from trying to have certain ones banned.

Of course, the fact that a semi-automatic rifle isn’t an “assault weapon” doesn’t even cross their minds. The only thing they seek to push is their gun control agenda. From their event site:

Maura Sullivan gets dumped by a fellow Marine: “dainty holding an AR-15”

maurasullivanguncontrol

“As a Marine watching that ad, I had to cringe,” retired USMC Gunnery Sergeant Jessie Jane Duff said on NRA TV Wednesday. “She might as well have said ‘Oooh, it looks scary!’”

Democrat candidate for Congress in NH CD-1 Maura Sullivan is lying by omission, IMHO, by making it sound like she was in the thick of things in Fallujah – in the Infantry and using “US Marines” as a buttress from being confronted on it.   Michael Graham from NH Journal goes on Cam & Co to talk about how this Democrat candidate for Congress (and carpetbagger bringing in YUGE amounts of out of state $$$ in doing so) Maura Sullivan is trying conflate the most popular civilian rifle platform with an actual military firearm – KNOWING the difference between the two is vast. Once again, a gun grabber is campaigning on taking away, we who are law-abiding citizens, our legally purchased firearms.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez-ism and stances

OK, from my previous post, you know a bit about her political philosophy/campaign stances from this 28-year-old barista with a Boston University double major in International Relations and Economics that is now the Democrat candidate for Congress in NY-14 (Queens)

Sidenote: oh dear, how low has my alma mater dropped in rigor.  They ought to be disavowing her forthwith but I guess the Howard Zinn-sim, Noam Chomskyesque, and the other hard core radical professors have gotten worse over the years. As I continue with her here, I am gratified by my decisions over the years not to give my hard earned monies to this spawning den of everything I find wrong.

Anyways, I digress – let me unpack my pile of stuff here. Just remember that no less a luminary than Tom Perez, Chair of the National Democrat Committee, says “she is the future of the Party”.  Go ahead, keep shoveling that out there!

But gun control laws DO work

Whenever anything bad happens that involves a gun, we can safely predict that two other things are going to happen shortly thereafter. The first is that some kind of gun control laws will be proposed.  The second is that these proposals will be met with claims that ‘gun control laws don’t work’.

But the thing is, they DO work.

So when Republican Governors advance the Democrat agenda, the expected thing happens

“I’m so angry that he put us in this situation. I’m in no mood to help him right now.”

Governor Rick ScottThis still applies when Republican elected officials do things contrary to what their conservative bases believe in, especially if they were the edge that put their butts into said electoral seats in the first place. Yet, in effect, they make the political calculus that in the long run, it won’t hurt them and rely on that hackneyed phrase to get them through:

Where else are they going to go?

And then smirk.  Problem is, it doesn’t seem to be working for Florida Governor Rick Scott as he’s now vying to become a US Senator (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Scott’s approval rating topples after signing gun control bills

Gov. [Rick] Scott saw a sharp drop in approval in the second quarter of 2018, the latest Morning Consult poll shows, a plummet that political analysts are attributing to his decision earlier this year to tighten the state’s gun laws. …

Arm Yourself With ‘Common Sense’

From Greg Camp at Ammoland. There is no correlation between gun ownership and gun homicide rates, nor is there any between how many are murdered by gunfire and the “strength” of the gun laws. Similarly, the suicide rate of a nation shows no effect from the regulations related to what weapons the people living there are allowed to … Read more

“Criminals won’t register their guns and shootings will continue”

clownsBY TERRY STEWART

“They simply aren’t wired to connect the dots to the logical conclusion that no amount of laws will stop evil people from doing evil things….
…for the anti-gun fanatics, shootings are the gift that keeps giving

I’ve known Terry for a few years now as we both served on our hamlet’s Budget Committee. I always found him to be thoughtful and one who did his homework.  That said, he’s never been one to suffer a fool on either side of the aisle and in this Letter to the Editor, he hoists one on his own petard. Emphasis mine.

Isn’t it great when the clowns to the left claim to be “stuck in the middle with you”? They use words like “common sense” and “reasonable” as if there’s no doubt they are. The best part is when they claim they are pro Second Amendment because they own a gun and say that the Second Amendment is about protecting your house, like it’s true. Mr. Vervaeke should go back to school and read the Federalist Papers to find out why the Founding Fathers felt the right to bear arms is important. I hope that he reads what they actually said and not what he’d like it to say. Clearly, advocating for gun registration is exactly what the Founding Fathers didn’t want and preventing such measures is why the Second Amendment exists.

The Left’s One-Trick Donkey – Gun Control!

NOTHING HAS CHANGED: Why We Can Never Have an Honest Discussion about Mass Shootings

NOTHING HAS CHANGED: I wrote this article several years ago but I was reminded of it with the latest abhorrent murders of children. Nothing has changed in the United States. The left continues to dip their hands in the blood of babies while blaming the right and anyone who dares protect themselves. Politicians sit on their hands and do nothing to try and solve the ROOT CAUSES of why mostly young males (from all walks of life and races) choose to murder innocent people. We can NEVER have a serious conversation about these issues. We can NEVER try to stop mass murders because politicians won’t actually address the root causes of WHY these things happen. We will never stop all acts of evil but for God’s sake, can we at least attempt to stop SOME of them? How many children have to die before our government pulls their heads out of their asses and works to actually BETTER society for a change? It certainly won’t happen under the Biden Administration but can we finally have an HONEST conversation about this?

Over the past several days, there have been many conversations about the Florida Parkland school shooting but where are these conversations leading?

It’s horrifying, heinous, disgusting and shocking to turn on the news and discover that a fellow human being decided to murder multiple fellow human beings, especially when those humans are children or young adults.

As the country watches in horror, the first thought that usually comes to everyone’s mind is WHY? Why in the hell would ANYONE choose to murder innocent people? WHY?

A majority cannot wrap their heads around this kind of evil. Yes, it’s in movies and on television but that’s not real life. In real life, people aren’t supposed to treat each other this way.

Sadly, within minutes of a mass killing, certain people, especially if a firearm is the object of choice to murder innocents, dip their hands into the blood of the victims in order to wave them around and demand ALL law-abiding citizens pay the price for the actions of a psychopathic murderer.

America’s Democrat Anti-Gun Mayors Enhance Crime

“Crime when it succeeds is called virtue.”   —Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Democrat-CorruptionOn February 7, 2012, I wrote, “America’s Democrat Mayors Ruining The Country For Decades. The entry followed Kurt Badenhausen’s article in Forbes detailing America’s ten most miserable cities.

Badenhausen examined America’s largest metropolitan areas with a  minimum population of 256,000 people and  ranked each area on factors consisting of,  1) average unemployment rate between 2009 and 2011; 2) median commute times to work for 2010 based on U.S. Census data; 3)violent crimes per capita from the FBI’s 2010 Uniform Crime Report; 4) how pro sports teams fared in the area over the past three completed seasons.
