Loon groups push for bill to ban lead fishing jigs in NH

MOULTONBOROUGH — The Loon Preservation Committee and the New Hampshire Lakes Association are pushing hard for passage of a bill that would ban the use of lead sinkers and fishing jigs, which they say threaten the lives of loons.

Loon preservation.  Isn’t that the same thing as when the New Hampshire Democrat party tries to protect incumbents?

In all seriousness, the Loon Groups are pushing for the passage of SB 89.  This bill clarifies the definition of a lead jig or sinker. The loons got SB89 through the State Senate (it has a Republican Sponsor) and are hoping there enough loons in the House.

There are.  So if they pass this bill what, the jig is up?

The article states that “The New Hampshire Fish and Game Commission is not supporting this bill, and did not support last year’s bill.”

Lead Free or Die.
