Well, it has been a wee bit of time since the last post of our interview series with Jane Cormier (running for the NH House in Belknap 8 – Alton, Barnstead, and Gilmanton) as we spent half of last week / weekend in Washington DC at the Americans for Prosperity’s Defending the American Dream event.  Thus, time to ramp it up again and finish up.

AFP - Defending American Dream 2012This past weekend was the Americans for Prosperity’s Defending the American Dream Summit; a gathering of free market and Liberty and Freedom loving activists who came to go to workshops to sharpen their skills and to listen to an impressive list of well known (and loved) speakers.  GraniteGrok was invited to come  and spent the weekend on Radio Row where, obviously enough, radio talk hosts came in to do their shows remotely and to interview some of the speakers and notables that were at the event (we were the only blogsite allowed and the only ones doing live video of our interviewees!). So besides the first interview series (“What is your American Dream – and Obama’s?“), we had a fair number of folks.  Most notable was Pam Bondi, the Attorney General of Florida; I learned two things quickly:

Ask a New Hampshire Democrat…About Taxing ‘The Rich.’

I am willing to bet that almost every New Hampshire Democrat supports the national agenda on taxing corporations and “the rich.”  To paraphrase Kyle Reese from the original Terminator movie, in regard to Democrats raising taxes…  “That’s what they do.  That’s all they do.”

The real problem is, of course, spending, which Democrats deny.  “It’s not about spending,” they say, “we need the rich to pay ‘Their fair share®.'” But  all you have to do to prove they are wrong (again) is to look at what would happen if Democrats actually got those taxes they say we have to have on corporations and the wealthy.

A Community Organizer? In Paris? Naturally.

Sometimes the New York Times delivers.  I’m not a fan of the New York Times, but I do occasionally peruse its site for interesting tidbits.  Although, most of the time while doing so I find myself reflecting back to the actual usefulness of its well-absorbent newspaper edition (being a dog lover, it came in handy when we had pups), tonight its digital version made me smile.

In reference to hearing about the 75% income tax proposal from their newly hired Socialist French president, things like this echoed through streets of Paris:

Candidate Says What?

Confused

I saw a message on Facebook this week, for a fellow running for State Representative in my hometown of Milford.  I’ve known Andy Seale for a few years, had beers once or twice after political events, nice guy, Scout leader, active Republican, engaged Milford GOP chair.

I also found out, just a few weeks ago, that he’s a member of the Nashua Regional Planning Commission Executive Committee (Treasurer).

Now, if you know me, or have been following GraniteGrok recently, you’ll know that there’s a growing movement against the RPCs and their nefarious ways, due to their tendency of following methodologies that aim to impede individual liberties, through ever-increasing restrictions on private property, under the unconstitutional, watchful eye (and bankroll) of the federal government.  A lot has been written lately about this subject (here) (here) (here) (here), and MUCH more will be written in the coming weeks and months (please stay tuned to this channel).

A Rose By Any Other Name…

This may sound like a strange observation but I think we can narrow down the field of potential Romney VP candidates based on how well their name sounds after “Romney.”  (I am amused by the notion that this might matter.)   Romney-Christie, for example, does not roll off the tongue the way “Romney-Ryan” would.   And let’s face it, Obama- Biden may one day be a slang term for economic destruction (if it is not already), but it rolls off the tongue as if it were a beautifully constructed expletive.

The Hayden Reservoir is gone so where did the fish goThe big news today is the disappearance of an entire pond in Hollis, New Hampshire.  The town decided to breach a dam, which drained Hayden Reservoir, becasue it was cheaper than keeping it and paying for the work to meet the sharia-law like standards, tithing, and annual tribute demanded by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental services.

Selective Intolerance

“National day of intolerance,” glibly chided Shepard Smith of Fox News a few days ago in reference to the latest in the culture wars: the national Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day–geez, they’re so biased at Fox.  For those of you that pay more attention to the throwing of badminton matches, swim meets, or flies collecting on your dog’s latest masterpiece than to the culture wars, I’ll provide a little background. The Chick-fil-A issue revolves around remarks about gay marriage made by the president of that company, followed by a response by some mayors around the country, then followed with people in support of the restaurant with Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.  (This is still unfolding at the time of this writing, but I heard a “kiss-in” is to occur at some point. Stay tuned.)

To summarize the Chick-fil-A president’s opinion on gay marriage: he’s not for it, and for saying so, two notable mayors sounded off and said Chick-fil-A can’t set up shop in their cities. Way to show tolerance, guys!

So, Congressman Frank Guinta dissing one of NH’s most beloved activists – Diane Bitter?

Title 2: This is not what Frank should be doing to impress his former core supporters for his upcoming US Senate run…

Yeah, really!  Diane Bitter (Rye Republican Town Chair, NH GOP Area-Vice Chair, and NH Assistant Secretary, and MUCH more importantly, Conservative and TEA Party activist) reached out to Frank and his campaign LAST MARCH about attending this event (yes, yet another group she is involved with):

SRW Cong Sen Debate 2012The Seacoast Republican Women is a well respected group all over the state on the Right side of the aisle.  Diane is also well connected here in NH – and she is very experienced on putting on both large and small events all over the state. This is not a snafu on her part as from MY previous experience with her (and anyone that has worked with her can vouchsafe this), she does not leave important details to the last moment such as NOT giving a sitting Congressman a LONG lead on an event.  She knows that to get a VIP, you ask early and stay on it.  She did – again, the request went out in MARCH – 5 months ago. PeterBolsterForSenateReasonableChoiceForDemocrats_procUpdated and Bumped:  Grok Reader Bob saw this and asked that I update this post given that it is out of date – Bolster quickly gave up his delusions of a NH Senate run and is now running to retain his seat in the NH House, I should make sure that folks knew if they came across this post.  While what his sign says (NH District 6) is now out of date – given that he IS a former Democrat, and VOTES like a Democrat (another one of those that is using the Republicans to get elected), my little addition to his sign is STILL applicable.
