“Republican” Massachusets Governor Charlie Baker (who is up for re-election this fall) signed a bill to raise the minimum wage, add permanent tax holiday weekend, and something Granite Stater’s luckily (just) avoided.

An $800 million paid family and medical leave program overseen by the state government and backed by a payroll tax will be launched so workers can more easily take care of themselves and their families without facing fiscal crises.

The 2-day (sales) tax holiday is “cute” but there will be no tax holiday from the 800 million in new plunder from employees and employers or it’s leasting effects.

NH House Will No Longer pay ‘Dues’ to the National Council of State Legislatures

Speaker Gene Chandler announced yesterday that the New Hampshire House would no longer support the National Council of State Legislatures (NCSL). What was the last straw? The NCSL’s support for the internet sales tax.

New Hampshire is very proud to have no sales tax. Our retail business community thrives as a result of our no sales tax environment. To ask our retailers to collect taxes for dozens of other states is a huge burden on them, and will likely jeopardize their ability to do business online with out-of-state customers. We are certainly disappointed in the Court’s decision, but we are more frustrated that NCSL has championed legislation in Congress to force a remote sales tax, and cheered the recent court decision.

Remember when the Republican Majority Senate refused to advance Obama Nominee Merrick Garland before the 2016 Presidential Election? The “rule” they invoked was called the Biden Rule.

It was first proposed by Democrat Sen. Joe Biden. But it’s not etched in stone. Not even close.

Doh! The Biden/Schumer rule applies in PRESIDENTIAL election years, and [Democrats] should know, they invented it. McConnell merely applied it in 2016, much to their chagrin.
