Democrat Opponent Asks Sullivan for Proof of Combat Experience

DemorrhoidsMaura Sullivan’s not from around here, but she’s getting used to being treated like she is. These pages have no shortage of commentary on her political relocation “therapy.” From her “gun-violence” narratives to how she holds a firearm in her commercial that is neither from the War in Iraq or anywhere in New Hampshire. The latter being where she was planted by the DNC to steal a congressional seat. The former a point of political posturing that is also under attack.

From Kevin Landrigan’s Granite Status.

Democratic congressional candidate Terence O’Rourke of Alton is calling on fellow veteran and primary rival Maura Sullivan of Portsmouth to prove she’s a combat veteran.

“During the course of this campaign, former Marine Corps Capt. Maura Sullivan has repeatedly and insistently stated that she ‘fought’ in the War in Iraq and that she is a ‘combat’ veteran. There is no record currently available to the public to justify those statements,” O’Rourke charged.

“In fact, statements made by her prior to running for office would indicate otherwise. As an officer with integrity I have pointed out that while Ms. Sullivan performed honorable duty in Iraq, she did not ‘fight’ in combat.”

No one is disputing her service or the honor that deserves. The problem is the dishonor she may be heaping upon it or herself if she is stretching the truth about serving in combat. Her Democrat primary opponent clearly has something to gain politically, but instead of providing proof Sullivan’s campaign decided to accuse him of gender discrimination.

“Ms. Sullivan, who claims to be a champion of veterans, should know better. Over 400 female Marines have been awarded the Combat Action Ribbon for their service in Iraq and Afghanistan and over 9,000 female soldiers have received the Combat Action Badge in the same conflicts. This is about you Ms. Sullivan not about those brave women.”

Seems like a simple enough matter to clear up. You either have a combat action badge or ribbon, or you can produce witnesses to your combat service who will allow themselves to be vetted.

If you were in combat you should be able to produce some evidence. Otherwise, you need to explain why you can’t or start apologizing to everyone who was in combat for using them to get elected to public office.
