“Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.” ~Barry Goldwater
The RINO of the week is six-term Hollis House Representative Carolyn M. Gargasz. This RINO is not quite the rank-and-file RINO that perhaps Ken Gould or David Kidder might be. Representative Gargasz is more akin to being a, “part-time” Republican. Gargasz shows how RINOS use a “balanced approach” in supporting of issues contrary to Republican Party platform. When it comes to calling ones self a moderate, most likely Gargasz is a true-believer.
One aspect of her record as a public servant is that she is clearly no fan of public accountability. On various websites she has ignored issue questions, suggesting that Gargasz is one of those folks who wants the job, but lacks the political courage the job requires. And like her fellow RINO’s she consistently votes against family and liberty. That seems to be a common RINO strain.
Representative Gargasz is a reliable friend to those who advocate for bureaucratic expansion, voting against the repeal of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and reductions in various taxes and fees, such as defunding of New Hampshire Public television.
Gargasz took a walk on HB 125, the lawful commerce in firearms bill. and voted against the Parental notification bill, Parental rights, and House Bill 370 seeking to reign in excessive power handed over to Public School administrators in handling bullying, to the detriment of parents. If parents rights compete with public school rights, the parents lose. And again, she took a walk on the Kimberly Cates Bill.
In recent weeks, I spoke with a few constituents of Representative Gargasz. They assert that she does not return phone calls and avoids talking about issues in Concord. Not knowing whether that is true or not, one thing that is obvious is that Gargasz walks out on critical votes to avoid being accountable.
Hollis is one of the places in New Hampshire where a RINO can politically survive, being a border town rife with Bay State transplants who assuage their voting consciences by supporting candidates with RINOistic tendencies. Accountability avoidance is inexcusable. But then again, RINO’s feel they owe nothing.
Walking the political mid-road and splitting the baby down the middle, Representative Carolyn M. Gargasz has earned the title, “RINO of the Week.”
