Endorsement (Personal) for NH House – Glen Aldrich, Harry Bean, Norm Silber, Mike Sylvia
While not an official GraniteGrok endorsement, all GraniteGrok writers have the authority to personally endorse people for elected office they feel best to fill that particular position. I am taking advantage of that now for the NH House of Representatives. The first three are in my District: Belknap County 2 (Gilford/Meredith). Glenn, Harry, and Mike … Read more
New Hampshire’s Ilhan Omar – State Rep. Ryan Buchanan?
Who is Ryan Buchanan, really, and is he New Hampshire’s Ilhan Omar? I ask, of course, because Ilhan Omar said “some people did something,” in regards to 9/11. The largest domestic terror attack in our history, killing 2,977 Americans in a few short hours, and minimized it to “some people did something.” This isn’t a … Read more

Totalitarianism on Display
The Democrat Majority in the New Hampshire House of Representatives has put totalitarianism on display for all to see. Thankfully, they’re only able to show it in the small body of 400. We have a firewall in between their desire for total control and the general populace. Hopefully they’ve also shown the Republican caucus, who … Read more

SO, NH House Democrat Leadership – ‘splain how this is “Bipartisan”?

NH House of Representatives – No Shows
I’ve been asked on a number of occasions to run for the NH House of Representatives and have turned them down because of work responsibilities. There was just no way to be able to keep my job AND do the job of a NH Rep correctly and fully. Plus, for full disclosure, when I ran for elective office in my hamlet, I promised the TEMW that I’d never run for higher office (and even though I tried my hardest ever this year, when I asked to be let out of my promise, the response was “the look” – yes, I was doomed from the start.
Sadly, a lot of these folks, mostly Republicans at the top of the Chart of No-Show Shame, should have been doomed as well as certainly the voters that spent their previous Votes on them got hoodwinked:
Overwhelming Bipartisan Defeat of Marsy’s Law in New Hampshire
Yesterday, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted on the CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 22 (CACR 22), RELATING TO: rights for crime victims, also known as “Marsy’s Law.” In an overwhelming bipartisan defeat, the house voted 284 – 51 against Marsy’s Law and changing the New Hampshire Constitution. They also voted to “indefinitely postpone” this amendment being brought up again.
On the outset, Marsy’s Law seems like a no brainer – give victims constitutional rights. How could anyone possibly oppose something that helps victims? Many legislators signed on in support based on what they were told by the paid lobbyists for the constitutional amendment. As with anything “too good to be true,” the devil was in the details and that’s where Marsy’s Law fails, in every aspect.

So, who was Franklin Pierce? Plainly stated, he was a drunkard
Nothing Like a Meltdown During a Committee Hearing

Meltdowns. Most people find them offensive and off-putting while I find myself amused by them. Admittedly, I am sometimes surprised…but mostly amused. Such was the case today, With House Criminal Justice and Safety Chair, Laura Pantelakos.
Rep David Murotake (R) Nashua completed his testimony opposing House Bill 135 when the rather large crowd broke into applause, despite two prior warnings of the Chair not to do so. Representative Pantelakos began feverishly hammering the podium with the gavel, and yelling for the applause to
