I want to say that I am a strong advocate for our public school system in the order of the excellent education I received 56 years ago. We need to reinstate educational excellence in our institution of public education. This is what I want. This is what parents want and this is what Commissioner Edelblut wants in my conversations with him.

Quick Thought: And This Is the Result of Promulgating Government’s Near-Monopoly on Education
I’ve posted about this before in that kids that have graduated “well” from high school have found out the hard way that their Government Schools did a poor job in training them up to face college material.
Is Today’s America What the Founders Had in Mind?
Today seems the right time to be thinking about “first principles.” A first principle is a basic assumption that cannot be deduced any further. First principle thinking is a fancy way of saying “think like a scientist.” Thomas Ricks has a book of the same name that addresses whether today’s America is what the Founders had in mind.
Why Would NH Voters Vote Republican at Home and Democrat “Abroad?”
The results of this election do not logically make sense. Let’s start at home. In New Hampshire the reports say the electorate has undergone a change. We are to believe we went from a Democrat-majority State House, State Senate, and Executive Council to a Republican majority in each.
Is Merrimack a Bellewether for NH? Dems Rule Fed Races GOP Owns Local Races
I’m looking at the final totals for Tuesday for Merrimack. Biden, Shaheen, and Pappas got more votes in this supposedly Republican town. Downticket, Republicans cleaned up with few exceptions. What the bleep is that all about?

NotableQuote – a two-fer by Dan Henninger
Emphasis mine. No Guardrails (paywall, 1993) ..In our time, the United States suffers every day of the week because there are now so many marginalized people among us who don’t understand the rules, who don’t think that rules of personal or civil conduct apply to them, who have no notion of self-control. As the saying … Read more
Educational Methods and Values and Principles
We are seeing declining results from changes in educational methods and values and principles. Perhaps it is some of both. Either way, the education ship is sailing in the wrong direction. Testing results send us the message loudly and clearly.
2020 brings redistricting and hopefully not a socialist government
We need all the help we can get because 2020 brings redistricting and hopefully not a socialist government. We the remaining sane people need your assistance. The Democratic Party continues to sink. It is already lower than it has ever descended. That’s a low bar to slither under, too.
Education Worship: When Anything is Made an End in itself it Becomes a False God
America is engaged in education worship. When anything is made an end in itself it becomes a false god. All things must be a means to achieving goodness. Why else should people exist? Sometimes we lack wisdom or perhaps we lose perspective. Today we seem to be doing that with education.
Bernie Sweeps to Victory in Nevada While Biden Gets a Lifeline
2020 is shaping up to be a hard lesson for the political elites. If the Bernie Juggernaut keeps this momentum the candidates of choice will both be non-establishment outsiders. The Democrats, of course, will do all in their power to keep Bernie off their ticket. But what does that look like?
Winning in Trump’s Economy
Who is winning in Trump’s economy? In his State of the Union address the President rolled out an eye-catching statistic. He said the wealth held by the poorest half of American households increased three times as fast as the wealth held by the “1%” under his administration. Wealth means net worth. This is true according … Read more
Iowa Caucuses Crash and Burn
The Iowa caucuses crash-and-burn in a dramatic example of Democrat Party leadership and capacity. The Iowa State Democratic Party was slow-releasing results Monday night but at least they were inaccurate. No one seems to have a handle on what happened.
Trump Wins Iowa with Over 97% of the Vote While Dems Still Have No Clue
To make things easier big-government Democrats made the Iowa Caucus harder. And then they screwed that up. Yes, the Iowa Caucus debacle is the new poster child for planned rule. Experts who know nothing executing a convoluted system designed to fail.
Pleasant Lies or Painful Truth
It is coming time for us to choose between pleasant lies or painful truth. Do federal policymakers really know how to improve productivity in the American economy? The answer seems to be NO. Education is a large sector of the American economy. If educational results are an indication, the answer is definitely in the negative.
Socialism Is the “In” Thing
Socialism is being marketed to young people as kind, selfless, and community-focused. Like most marketing, that is not really true. It is an ideology of promises. Its performance is far different than its marketing.
Where Is American Education Today?
Recently Mick Zais, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education, visited Concord to deliver an assessment. Here are some excerpts from the address he delivered.
Should We Buckle up Our Chinstraps?
Are we heading toward Civil War? The American Civil War was brutal. In its wake over 620,000 Americans were left dead. The population then was about 31.4 million people, which means about one person in 50 died in the Civil War. That means about 2% of the U.S. population met their death. An equivalent war … Read more
