It’s Another “Can’t We All Just Get Along Coalition”

John DiStaso’s Granite Status alerts us to the formation of yet another group designed to help American’s ‘find a copacetic political medium.’  This one is called NoLabels. Like similar ‘groups’ (I’ll call them out in a moment) this one wants to bring the self-proclaimed rational people from both sides into the center.

From DiStato

A new advocacy group that disdains "hyper-partisanship" and promotes "the vital center" is trying to make in-roads in New Hampshire.

"Ultimately, unless we get rid of some of our ideological intensity, we are not going to be served by government."

The group is being fronted locally by former Portsmouth mayor and so-called centrist democrat Steve Marchand.  I’m not going to waste time on whether Marchand is centrist or not, in fact I think I’ll skip the preview reel altogether and get to the point.

Palin Bashing

I stumbled across an open letter by (former?)’Young Democrat’ Douglas Lindner, a primary candidate for Manchester Ward 1 back in 2008.  Lindner narrowly lost the primary (his words).  Narrowly is 268 to 330,350 and 406 for three seats in Manchester Ward 1; I’m thinking he might not have been liberal enough.

But I believe he’s found a fix for that.

In his letter he first congratulates the Republicans on their victory (a very gracious set up), commends the Republicans for selecting the moderate train wreck John McCain in the past two presidential primaries, (even though it was the moderate/independents that swung those victories) and then proceeds to embark on a Palin bashing screed.

I told you he was trying to up his cred.

Guantanamo Blues

Twenty-two months after announcing that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility would be closed in twelve months, the Obama administration has announced that they will now be holding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed at that facility, indefinitely, without any trial at all.

[Updated] Why You Should Contact Senator Mitch McConnell

Mitch McConnell[ UPDATED Senator McConnell has officially come out against earmarks:“Today, I am announcing that I will join the Republican leadership in the House in support of a moratorium on earmarks in the 112th Congress,” he said].

NYT Link Here

Original post

Senator Mitch McConnell (R- KY) is said to be working to undermine an effort at banning earmarks in the US Senate.  This is not surprising.  Senators, as a rule, abuse the privilege more.  And while appropriations of this nature amount to a fraction of the total budget, it is an impressive fraction that rarely serves the interests of anyone more than the Seantor themselves.

Was it Carol Shea-Porter, 2012 congressional candidate in waiting who said that earmarks are necessary so that the state can get back it’s fair share of the federal taxes it’s residents pay?  Or was that Hodes?  Does it matter? Sure, congressman abuse them as well, even those who swear they have sworn them off.

Trouble in Utopia

From AP – Courtesy of the Union Leader   WASHINGTON (AP) — In a fresh sign of turmoil among defeated Democrats, a growing number of the rank and file say they won’t support House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a politically symbolic roll call when the new Congress meets in January. “The reality is that she … Read more

NHDP Policy – “Can’t Win On Issues? Cheat!”

Maggie Hassan must be in danger, why else spend all that money on fake signs with the Republican opponents name on it linking them to higher taxes.  That’s what’s happening in State Senate District 23.  The Democrats, practically overnight, have peppered the district with "counterfeit signs" that look like the candidates signs, but with some … Read more

Public Service Is About Trust

I’d just assume have a root canal without pain killer as suffer through an editorial by Carol Shea-Porter, but sometimes you have to take one for the team. So I have immersed myself in the last rights editorial of the soon to be former congresswoman from New Hampshire’s first district, which is ironically titled, ‘Public Service is about trust.’

Trust?

Before I proceed let me offer up a comment on Carol’s notion of trust.  In traditional progressive fashion the meaning of trust has had to have been tortured before admitting under duress and threat of death to its friends and family members, that Carol’s application of it’s meaning holds any relevance at all to the historical application.  In fact Carol’s willingness to even use the word in this context, nay–any context at all–in reference to what she refers to as her public service, is a public disservice to the word, the language, the people of the first district, and serves to cement the likelihood that she is the disconnected, ruling class political shill we suspect her to be, if not also clinically insane.

New Hampshire Democrats are living in a delusional world

The website Blue Hampshire is the Mecca for Democrats in New Hampshire.  Check it out, if you want to know just how hopelessly out-of-touch the party of John Lynch has become.

It’s as if the trillion-dollar stimulus and the multi-billion auto bailout never happened, while Obamacare and chronic unemployment of almost 10 percent are just figments of the voters’ imaginations.  Not a mention of these issues.  No, the issues really driving this election, according to Blue Hampshire, are something or other having to do with Kelly Ayotte’s e-mail account when she was Attorney General and Frank Guinta’s salary at his first job.

To quote Bob Schieffer: “Is that all you got?”

Schieffer was interviewing Obama’s consigliere David Axelrod about the blatantly false charge that Republicans are taking foreign campaign contributions.  Schieffer noted that, “this part about foreign money, that appears to be peanuts," and asked Axelrod “do you have any evidence that it’s anything other than peanuts?” Axelrod’s response: “Well, do you have any evidence that it’s not, Bob?”

The Democrats in New Hampshire are playing the same game as Axelrod.  Make unfounded smears about the Republican candidates.  Ceaselessly repeat the smears.  And harrumph that the smears haven’t been disproven, when challenged on them.

While Axelrod’s accusations are…

Nashua-area Political Activity…

many Nashua-area political events throughout the month of October, providing many chances to get out and meet Republican candidates for office, as we approach the general election on November 2nd.

I’m you…”The Spirit of 2010″

Christine O’Donnell has a much better chance at winning the Delaware Senate seat in November. Written off and ridiculed, she beat the party-favorite, moderate Mike Castle, in the primary and money has been pouring into her campaign since. This will be an interesting race to watch on Election Day.

Let’s Play Ball

If you believe the rhetoric Carol Seiu-Porter and Paul ‘Hot Dog’ Hodes are bulwarks of the middle class lifestyle and protectors of the elderly.  So what would they make of this, from a letter sent to Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday?

A number of tax cuts enacted in the past decade are due to expire at the end of this year. Our fiscal policy should be one that maximizes economic growth and private sector job creation. That is why we strongly believe that Congress should extend the current tax rates for dividend and long-term capital gains taxes…We [] have a responsibility to protect middle class families and seniors from harmful tax increases and their economic impact…

Many seniors depend on this income to supplement their fixed retirement income. A recent study found that in 2007 over 27 million tax returns had dividends qualifying for the reduced tax rate reduction. Of those returns, 61 percent were from taxpayers age 50 and older and 30 percent were from taxpayers age 65 and older.

Would they say it’s just a ploy by the authors to excuse an extension on tax cuts for the wealthy?   Could we expect promises to fix it, whatever it was that needed fixing, after the fact?  Or would they simply dismiss it and ignore the consequences to the elderly and those nearing retirement like they did with health insurance reform?

So what would they say if the letter was sent to Nancy Pelosi by 47 House democrats?

Public School Propoganda So Obvious It’s Absurd.

Have you heard of Upfront Magazine?  It’s a product of the New York Times, delivered through Scholastic, to public schools and then public school students, and it is not much different from the actual New York Times.  For example, the September 6th 2010 issue has articles that promote workers rights in China (promoting Unions), seek to explain the complex problem with illegal immigrants (soft selling Amnesty), and then there’s the cover article–‘Americas Challenges 2011,’ a discourse on some of the issues that our new President Obama must cope with.

Here are the opening few paragraphs.  You ready for it?

Just Another Load Of Bull from Buckley [updated 2.0]

The NH GOP had a convention Saturday to get all rah-rah and make decisions about the party platform.  They were hoping for at least 400 of the states 725 delegates but only 294 delegates made the event. That is not unusual but there are some who think it is in indicative of waning in enthusiasm. … Read more

Tax Cuts For The “Insert name here”

Don’t expect ShaHodeSheaPorter to wrestle with this conundrum; while running for office in 2008 they insisted that the Bush Tax cuts were "for the rich," or "the wealthiest Americans."  The class warfare rhetoric made the case that Republicans didn’t provide tax relief for anyone else, and the democrats promised to remedy this the moment they were elected.  The result was to embark on a multi-trillion dollar spending binge that cannot possibly be paid for without taxes on everyone and everything–though they still insist otherwise.

The Real Racists

Reid Wasn’t Looking To Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

Yahoo! News has a morning headline titled "How Democrats Lost ‘Don’t Ask’ Repeal."  (You can read it here).  It focuses almost entirely on the "Don’t Ask" repeal provision and to some degree on the tactics that epitomize Ried’s Senate antics.  He takes a defense authorization bill, adds Don’t ask don’t tell, then stuffs amnesty for illegal immigrants into it, and then refuses to allow Republican amendments.

The article,  and most of those that I have seen on the subject, all focus on the failure to repeal "Don’t Ask" as if that were actually the point.  But this had nothing to with that. It was a tactical political media ploy.  Think about it.

Has Hodes Joined The Party Of No?

Have you noticed that Paul Hodes is running on the things he voted against?  It’s a very short list and represents less than a fraction of 1% of his votes, but wouldn’t that mean he’s running as the party of no? I thought no was bad.  In fact, for the past two years, "no" has … Read more
