ConservationNH And Their “Tree-huggin” Hippy Crap

“The college idealists who fill the ranks of the environmental movement seem willing to do absolutely anything to save the biosphere, except take science courses and learn something about it.” — P.J. O’Rourke

The NH Union Leader’s Ted Seifert featured a story about ConservationNH.org and their inaugural release of the, “Dirty Dozen” list of bills currently before the legislature.  According to filings with the Secretary of State, this group began in 2009 and its board is comprised of individuals listing affiliations and accomplishments more warmly welcoming in the left-wing political arena. That is an important distinction to make because they have RINO’s Rick Russman and Liz Hager on their team.

When readers go to the website, ConservationNH.org, the information is incomplete. There are no links to actual bills, titles or analysis other than what ConservationNH.org has to say about it. Lets look at their list:

HB 1512 – To Abolish Municipally Supported Land Conservation

Do Nothing Democrats

It has been three years since the Democrat party produced a federal budget. The Democrat Senate has blocked repeated efforts by the Republican controlled House to ‘do something’ about that. President Obama, Senate leader Harry Reid, and the Democrat leaderships contribution (including their media homunculus) has been to demand compromise without giving any.

Two Dick’s & Obama’s Vitamin Police

Long story short, if the regs went into place the vitamin shelf at the store would be emptied until supplement makers submitting test results to the FDA and the products were approved. And the added for battling the bureaucracy and testing regime? You’d be paying that when they products went back on the shelf, if they did.

Bar Stool Economics

Left wing tax policy and the class warfare rhetoric they use to advance it crumbles in the face of even the most simplistic analysis.  Take the left wing war on the wealthy.  They argue that the rich do not pay their fair share even though the rich pay most of the taxes.  Here in New Hampshire the Mark Fernald wing of the democrat party apes this ridiculous technique on the matter of New Hampshire property taxes, a notion upon which the social justice mavens and the Granite State "Fair Tax" Coalition are meant to agitate.  But neither claim holds water and this cross post from CNHT explains why.

Bar Stool Economics

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100 and If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

Assault Weapons: A Serious Problem in America?

AWB_Author_Pic_Grok.jpg

“The Nation that makes a great distinction between its scholars and its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools.” – Thucydides

HR 6257 Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 was introduced by Republican Mark Kirk of Illinois, and co-sponsored by Republicans, (defeated)Mike Castle of Delaware, Mike Ferguson of New Jersey, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida and Chris Shays of Connecticut. The Bill was introduced on June 12, 2008 and never became law, having been stalled in subcommittee.  In January, Republican Senator Dick Lugar said he supports a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines.

These Republicans suck. Mark Kirk is a liberal, not to mention a demagogue and panderer. But coming from Illinois not much else is to be expected. Mike Castle of Delaware, also a liberal, was defeated by Christine O’Donnell in the primary. The bearded Marxist Chris Coons went on to beat O’Donnell which is not surprising, given Delaware “Kool-Aid-drinking” constituency. Mike Ferguson was a typical New Jersey anti-gunner who chose not to run for office again in 2008. Thank goodness. The dependable, but squishy Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, notorious for her associations with the “arts and croissants” crowd. and finally, RINO Chris Shays of Connecticut who got crushed in 2008. Two out of five left standing…

According to Kool-Aid drinking Senator Diane Feinstein’s brochure, an Assault Weapon is, All semi-automatic assault pistols and rifles with detachable magazines and 2 or more “assault” characteristics, (my emphasis added) as well as semiautomatic shotguns with 2 or more such ‘characteristics‘…” “Characteristics…”

char·ac·ter·is·tic  /?kær?kt??r?st?k/ [kar-ik-tuh-ris-tik]

–adjective

 1. Also, char·ac·ter·is·ti·cal. pertaining to, constituting, or indicating the character  or peculiar quality of a person or thing; typical; distinctive: Red and gold are the characteristic colors of autumn.

–noun

2. a distinguishing feature or quality: Generosity is his chief characteristic.

Who makes this stuff up? Rarely is there ever a name attached to such a falsehood. But, if I have to lay odds it came out of Bloomberg’s camp or from the Brady Bunch. In that vein, the contemporary liars, shrills and demagogues are more dependable than a quarterly IRS Tax bill.

What is an Assault Weapon? The rational and logical answer is nothing. There is no such thing. The term is a concoction of charlatans, the brainless colloquy bantered about by liberals and gun-banners as a pejorative mischaracterization on those firearms of a compact, utilitarian nature, originally derived from Military use. These so-called “assault weapons” available for sale in gun shops around the nation, generally do not differ in functionality from traditional hunting rifles. What sets these rifles apart are their mere appearance…or their characteristics.

The definition for Assault Rifle, however, is a, “Light and compact selective-fire automatic rifle firing a cartridge of such power that it can deliver effective fire to a range of about 500 metres, but at the same time will permit the weapon to be fired in the automatic mode from the shoulder,” according to the Greenhill Military Small Arms Databook.

The Sweet Stench Of Left Wing Hypocrisy

The Union Leader wastes no time, exposing Hawkins connection to money she received May 11th from America Votes (out of state left wing donation), which Granite State Progress then used to support the Democrat in the special election she is squawking about, specifically to elect that democrat, in that election.

Hillary Clinton Edited Out Of ‘Iconic’ Photo

Cats!

(First a Note: This is not the picture in question. It’s better)

That’s the Yahoo! News headline. Hillary Edited Out of Iconic Photo.   Though I’m not particularly concerned about that.  I’m more interested in the media narrative about a staged photo.  The word iconic keeps popping up as an adjective to describe this "piece of…history."

Well, Iconic is defined by dictionary dot com as…

-Adj,

1.  relating to, resembling, or having the character of an icon.

2.  (of memorial sculptures, esp those depicting athletes of ancient Greece) having a fixed conventional style.

OK. Not much to work with there. How about Icon then?

n
1. Also: ikon  a representation of Christ, the Virgin Mary, or a saint, esp one painted in oil on a wooden panel, depicted in a traditional Byzantine style and venerated in the Eastern Church
2. an image, picture, representation, etc
3. a person or thing regarded as a symbol of a belief, nation, community, or cultural movement
4. a person regarded as a sex symbol or as a symbol of the latest fashion trends
5. a pictorial representation of a facility available on a computer system, that enables the facility to be activated by means of a screen cursor rather than by a textual instruction

Which of these five do you think the media is shooting for?

Given the direction of public education, I think we will have to amalgamate these into a common perception.  Something that fits the modern, western, collective unconscious, or in this case the media narrative about the current administration.  Iconic implies a historical moment of great importance destined to define our nation and it’s leaders (so -depicted) for generations to come.  Think- Sputnik moment!

Well lets work with that.

Quick Note To Those Seeking A Reasoned Political Debate

The first step would be to advance a theory where government didn’t have its fingers in every single pie. If the state left more decisions to local and individual control there would be a lot less to debate, and less heated rhetoric, because it would be none of the political classes damn business.

Concord Monitor’s Editorial Shell Games

“For a moment, at least, a nation united” the headline informs in the Concord Monitor. The monitor editorial continues on reflecting on the losses born out of 9/11, on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq and how our lives have changed since, all of which is very stoic and reflective.  But leave it to those … Read more

Can You Smell The Campaign Fires?

After two years of extravagance on the taxpayer dime. Week after week of high priced parties with expensive food and high priced entertainment. Date nights that shut down cities. Frivolous trips (in his and her jetliners complete with entourage) to various parts of the globe. Vacation, after vacation, after vacation. And despite the glamor of a designer wardrobe, pimped by the adoring media for the past 24 months, we are now supposed to be impressed by this?

Straight? Republicans Want To Meddle In Your Marriage, Too

That is the title of Kathy Sullivan’s most recent contribution to the Union Leader. "Straight? Republicans Want To Meddle In Your Marriage, Too."  And I must confess that my initial reaction after trying to wade through her editorial and then through HB 569 to see if she was just making stuff up again was, "what the hell is this bill?"

And then it dawned on me. (or maybe the coffee kicked in.)

The sole purpose of HB 569 is to preserve existing civil unions and Marriages while removing the State almost entirely from the business of marriage altogether.  HB 569 does not dissolve your marriage, it simply (well, not simply) re-defines the state’s role in the decision of any two legally eligible persons to form a domestic contract, with or without a religious ceremony referred to as a marriage.

It’s like a union between "State" and "none of your damn business."

Nashua Telegraph Snubs GOP Committee Meeting

The Nashua Telegraph’s progressive tendencies are frequently on display but never more so than in this mornings Sunday print edition. There is not one mention of the Republican State Committee meeting that went on for five hours, nor the election of any officers including the new Chairman Jack Kimball.

Bend It For The Benjamins

As a follow up to this, yesterday or maybe the day before, the NH Journal (NHJ), New Hampshire’s prominent internet news source if the news is whatever Hynes communications is being paid to call news, decided to float a lie called pin the conservative blogger to Jack Kimball.  Someone the NH Journal staff knew would stir the pot was fingered as Kimball’s communications director if he won the job as GOP State party chairman, even though no one–including Kimball and the blogger–knew anything about it until after the digital ink was dry.

The goal for Hynes and Millerick, (owner and editor respectively at NHJ)  appear to have been to send the RINO’s into a mad stampede.  RINO’s stampede easy so it worked.  Some RINO’s were so miffed, and wanting so badly for just such a story to jump on, they picked up the lie and ran with it. (Just like a progressive if that’s not too provocative a statement to make.)

There was a bit of damage control but once it’s out there, it is out there, no different than when CNN or MSNBC does it.  But the story did not end there.

Whose Jounal Is It?

This weeks Merrimack Journal was actually the Bedford Journal. They called it the ‘New Years’ Journal, but with a few minor exceptions, everyting in it was about Bedford. The letters to the editor were from Bedford. The news and sports…Bedford.

There Are No “Rules” For Radicals

The democrat leadership loves to project their feelings and intentions on others.  By their calculus, if it is happening inside their obsessed little minds everyone has to feel that way.  It is why they can’t help claiming that anything anyone does or says in opposition to them or their agenda does so from a position of fear or hate.  That is how they think and feel.  It is what drives them.  It must also drive you.

They then filter that misconception into populist rants demanding that everyone within a 100 mile ideological radius of some perceived slight denounce whomever or whatever they have painted as ill will.

This is classic Alinsky with a twist.  Rules for Radicals demands that you hold your opponents to their own moral standards, make them follow their own rules, and pummel them (and anyone near them) relentlessly at every opportunity.  They do this knowing humans are flawed and incapable of perfection on their own which is amusing because in their preferred secular state there is only one source of power to guide us and it is them and the same rules do not apply to democrats.

About that 3AM phone call that Hillary talked about during the 2008 campaign…

and the implication was that, of the Dems that were running, only she had the experience to handle such a call (I will allow you all to fill in the implicit punchline here). What’s Good For The Goose..

Tom Fahey quotes our confused friend Harrell Kirstein, Spokesperchild of the New Hampshire democrat party in regard to Bill O’Brien’s choices for leadership positions in the NH House. (I have to call Harrell the Spokesperchild from now on. Spokesperson has the word ‘son’ in it and we know how sensitive Harrell’s spleen is.)

Just Do It!

NHGOP LogoI am growing weary of this game.  We can no longer wait for the current NH State GOP chairman to tell us once and for all what his intentions are.  I’m not even sure why we are waiting. GraniteGrok has video of the announced retirement from the Cornerstone Dinner.

Governor Sununu announced that after this election he was retiring.  What happened on November second that does not constitute a complete political coup?  The only office the democrats hold is the governorship, but our victory was so complete that this no longer even matters.

So what is left for a seasoned New Hampshire politician to do?
