GrokTV Event: Belknap County Republican Committee “Contested Primaries” – NH State Senate District 6

Next on the list of Contested Primaries night at the monthly Belknap County Republicans was that of the NH State Senate.  Two races touch Belknap County – District 6 and District 7.  The former, centered in Farmington, is being contested by Sam Cataldo (long term NH House Rep) and Dick Green (former State Senator & Mayor of Rochester).

Did I mention that Dick Green, as told to me, was a member of the infamous “Republicans for Lynch” (er, that would be current DEMOCRAT NH Gov. John Lynch)?  A kindred spirit with Ray Burton (that ossified dinosaur).  Yes, that is a”Conservative” outlook – really?

The ‘Lamb On The Dole’ Enters The District 2 Senate Race

“Even though I’m a leftist. I think the left eats its own.” —Ted Rall

“Liberal” Democrat Robert C. Lamb Jr. of Holderness has declared his candidacy for the Senate District 2 seat  now held by Jeannie Forester.

Lamb skylined himself back in February when he argued in favor of keeping Holderness in District 2 with Ashland and Plymouth, as opposed to moving it to district 3 with Moultonborough and Wolfeboro. Ashland and Plymouth? Democrat leaning…Moultonborough and Wolfeboro? not so much.

Jayne Spaulding-Say Hello To My Woodshed

RINO!Jayne Spaulding is a RINO.  The voters in her district grew weary of her brand of left leaning republican governance and used the primary ballot box to excuse her from participating in the 2010 general election, deciding instead on other choices made available to them.

Jayne, like several other RINO’s in New Hampshire who have been the victims of "fringe elements" (aka-voters) have suddenly lost faith in the secret ballot now that it has become a capricious scold; tossing her to the curb like a two-dollar whore.  How dare the electorate that once embraced Jayne Spaulding refuse to show up to ensure her tenure in the New Hampshire House.  Clearly this is a mistake, the doing of some sinister cabal of right wing special interests and conservative extremists.  They can’t possibly have decided to take the state in a different direction from that of moderate Jayne Spaulding?

(No word yet from Jayne on the possibility of also claiming that foreign campaign dollars polluted the district to marshall her undoing.  But give her time.  She’s got all the other left wing excuses working.)

A small biz owner: marking the ballot for Jeanie Forrester

Got this via email today.  Given that we endorsed Jeanie a while ago, I am pleased to post it up!

Dear Editor,

I’m a small businessman here in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and voted for the first time using an absentee ballot. My choices weren’t hard for a few of the candidates running, especially for the two women vying for the District 2 State Senate Seat.

Prior to voting, I was determined to talk with Jeanie Forrester and Deb Reynolds. Jeannie and I spoke about the issues the week of the NH primary. She resonated with me with her stance on small business issues.

Small business carries lots of the water here in NH. We have one of the highest business profits tax in the nation. Jeanie suggested two things that could help lower the tax rate businesses like me pay on profits. Understand that if my profits tax is lower, I can use that extra money to hire more people. Adding jobs is a good thing for everyone.

Jeanie Forrester talked about scaling back the size of government to help reduce the tax burden. She also talked about adopting a program similar to what the state of Kentucky did in the 1980’s to attract new business. Kentucky offered businesses a moratorium on their property taxes for up to ten years.

Ten days ago I got a campaign card in the mail from incumbent Deb Reynolds. At the bottom it had her phone number. I dialed the number and discovered it was wrong. Are you kidding me? What does that tell you about attention to detail?

After calling her state senate office,…

Hey! I should be on the “Extreme 16” too…

extreme16.jpg

As Skip wrote here, "the protestations have begun", with a number of candidates for the New Hampshire Legislature NOT being included in the "Extreme 16" bracket, established by Mary Jane Wellner and Marjorie Smith, who head the Committee to elect House Democrats.

I wrote a letter to Mary and Marjorie, thanking them for highlighting a crop of our Conservative Patriots, who value the principles of small government, fiscal responsibility, individual liberties, and Constitutional adherence!  I also mentioned that they should have called it the "Extreme 300", since there are SO many folks out there running for the NH House and Senate, who qualify for this bracket.  I listed a handful of candidates that I could think of, off the top of my head, not meaning to include them all.  Well, a few people that I did miss replied and said "Hey!, I should be on that list too!".

One of them was Andrew Manuse, who responded to Mary and Marjorie, in the fashion of Ed Mosca.  Here is Andrew’s fine letter to them: (after the jump)

Cornerstone Dinner: Micro-Interview with Jim Forsythe

Last night, GraniteGrok attended the 10th Annual Cornerstone Dinner at the Manchester Radisson Hotel where over 300 traditional value, conservative, religious folks gathered (yup, just the kind of crowd that the "tolerant" Progressives love to hate!). Jim took out time from his simply outrageous campaign schedule (the Energizer Bunny would just give up after watching … Read more

A couple of cute kids singing at Jeanie Forrester’s House Event

DSCC Ditching Hodes

I was hearing rumors that the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) was not going to dump any more money down the Hodes-hole.   Then I read a post by Fergus Cullen over at Red Hampshire in which he believes recent phone polling appears to be testing the waters as to whether or not Hodes has the necessary level of interest for continued support.  And I just received a text last night indicating that the DSCC appears to be ready to pull the plug.

Watching Hodes deny it will be worth the price of speculation.

New Hampshire On The Potomac

Paul Hodes is trying desperately to change his image to that of a fiscal hawk and independent voice, but Paul has some monumental hurdles to get that line past the party base and into the general populace.  First, if he want’s anyone without Kool aid stained lips to buy into the fiscal song and dance … Read more

I Beg To Differ

An editorial in this morning’s UL attempts to suggest the voting results demonstrate a unique character to New Hampshire’s electorate but it makes some assumptions that to me seem a bit naive

That’s not to say the premise is wholly wrong, just that anyone who was really paying attention to the finer details during the primary would not have been fooled.

By The Numbers

Have You seen how full of Sh*T I am?--It's all right here in this reportPaul Hodes is trying to restyle himself as a fiscal conservative.  As a Washington outsider.  But Washington outsiders don’t get huge campaign donations from the left wings senatorial elite Like Dan Inoyue, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Bob Menendez. Paul Hodes does.

Fiscal conservatives don’t manage to come in 45th out of 435 in 2010 earmark requests.  Hodes did, then played at fiscal prudence, calling for reform only after having racked up more earmarks than 390 other House members.

In 2008 Hodes took a 10,000.00 dollar contribution from American Crystal sugar–a business looking for a way to break into ethanol production without burdensome upfront costs–the same year Hodes passed masive Ethanol hand-out farm bill mandates which he voted for, then overrode a veto to make it the law of the land.

Mr Hodes has the distinction of being in congress and voting for a budget and spending that resulted in a 400 billion dollar deficit, then campaigning as if he had nothing to do with, and then voting to triple that deficit to 1.4 trillion in the very next budget.

If you can believe it…there’s more on the jump.

Ovide for Senate, who’s on board?

onboard2.jpg

This has been quite the week for Ovide Lamontagne, candidate for US Senate.

First, Joseph McQuaid, publisher of the Manchester Union Leader, endorsed him, which isn’t your average endorsement around these parts.  Mr. McQuaid acknowledged that Ovide isn’t the "richest candidate", and that he isn’t the "favorite of the…Washington crowd", but "what he believes makes sense to save our nation from economic ruin".

In this economy and political climate, what else is there to say?

Then, all sorts of positive vibes started coming his way, on blogs and many other outlets…

Bill Binnie’s Having a Bad Day, Week, Month, Campaign…

geico.bmp

Let’s talk about Bill Binnie for a minute, shall we?  He seems to be the topic of conversation lately, so let’s keep the party going.

From the moment I first heard him speak, I got some funny feelings, and not the type that affected Chris Matthews’ leg, either.  In May, 2010, Binnie had some strange answers to the questions posed by the Rochester 912, in their well-run debate.  I knew this debate would be interesting, since the questions came from the 912 members themselves.  The videos clips are available on the Grok (Opening, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7).

** For a more directly-critical perspective on Binnie, you can check out the "Know Binnie" website, chock full of interesting bits of info.  After drilling through this site, you start to get a clear picture of who Bill Binnie is, and who he isn’t.

Recently, I got a note from fellow conservative, Ron Marchand, the organizer of the Rockingham County 912 group.  On August 2, Ron’s group had a meeting, with Binnie as a featured speaker.  Ron decided to ask Binnie a follow-up question to a statement he made back at the Rochester debate.

Ron asked Binnie about the interstate-commerce clause, and the 13th amendment (pertaining to involuntary servitude), and how he saw that in relation to the Healthcare mandates in Obamacare.  Ron wanted to know if Binnie thought that the mandates were Constitutional.
