Meredith–Jeanie Forrester today expressed her disappointment with Deb Reynolds’ decision to turn what should have been an open and honest debate opportunity into a political stunt.
Three weeks ago Americans for Prosperity had attempted to organize a debate on October 20 between Reynolds and Forrester, reaching out to both candidates. Forrester agreed to participate. With no response from Senator Reynolds or her staff, AFP decided not to move forward with the event and advised Forrester on October 14.
But last night, Senator Reynolds sent out a press release announcing a debate between her and Forrester. “Senator Reynolds never contacted me about the debate she arranged and I was surprised to learn about it through an email at 10 p.m. last night.” said Forrester. “Tonight I will be at the Meredith Rotary Club, having accepted an invitation last week,” said Forrester.
Forrester repeated her willingness to debate Senator Reynolds at a time and place that is mutually agreeable to both and urged Reynolds to contact her directly.
