Tweets in my ear – more incoming on the NH GOP Chair

Well, I got my "I’m endorsing Juliana Bergeron Letter" from Gov. Sununu – but I feel SO left out!   It seems that a number of voting Members (of the NH GOP State Committee) are getting "personal" calls from either Ms. Bergeron or the Guv.  Problem is, unlike Jack who NOT ONCE has spoken ill … Read more

Further reflections on Jack Kimball and the state GOP Chairmanship

There are many conservative Republican activists in New Hampshire who have been here far longer than I have. I learn from them and seek out their counsel at every opportunity. Some of them are in elected positions, some are not. Here is what one told me recently, musing about the possibility of Jack Kimball becoming the … Read more

About Jack Kimball and the Chairmanship of the New Hampshire Republican Party….

Our super-activist, grass-roots, political reform, hope-and-change advocate, GraniteGrok.com, has recently endorsed Jack Kimball for chairman of the NH GOP.  And I’m glad to see it.

In fact, I’ve been meaning to do the same thing for a couple of weeks now. But…but…somehow I’ve found it uncharacteristically difficult to do so.

It’s not like I’m any shrinking violet when it comes to taking political stands. No, it’s not that.

And it’s not like Jack isn’t immensely qualified as the right man, at the right moment time, and in the right place, to lead the renewed and revitalized New Hampshire Republican Party forward over the next two years. He is, after all, the man of the hour.

No. It’s not any of those. In my case, it seems to be something else…something that’s been making me hesitant.

Here are my thoughts about why….

Endorsement: Jack Kimball for NH GOP Chair

It is with pleasure that GraniteGrok is announcing its choice in the NH GOP Chair race: Jack Kimball. We endorsed him for Governor in the GOP Primary race: He saw that the ideals of Liberty and Freedom that allowed us unequaled freedom of choice in our personal lives were being eroded by those that … Read more

The New Hampshire Republican bumper sticker

There’s a little bit of a story behnd the NH GOP bumper sticker introduced in the GraniteGrok posting below. The design was originally going to be "New Hampshire" on the top line, with "New Republican" on the bottom line. But some people whom I respect greatly were a little bit chary about whether the words "New Republican" could be misconstrued. Here’s some of what passed between us….

Unite Behind What?

As for “bringing the party together,” it is not a notion in a vacuum nor desirable if the product moves us in the wrong direction. Unity, more often than not, is the product of a force of nature whose clarity about the goal or mission is so clear that people gather round to listen and then feel compelled to act. Julianna Bergeron may be faithful and competent from the perspective of a party insider, but so is a good accountant. That does not make them capable of leading and inspiring a movement.

What Steve Mac Donald said about NH politics below…

…also applies to our national politics in Washington, DC. Those %*#@! Tea Partiers won’t shut up. Worse yet, having helped win a historic GOP landslide election that the Old Republicans could never have pulled off, they now won’t take their seats in the back of the bus like the establishment pols are telling them they must. … Read more

“A Bullhorn or Bureaucrat for NH GOP?”

Guest post by Karen Testerman, founder of Cornerstone and candidate for NH Governor

A BULLHORN OR BUREAUCRAT FOR NH GOP?

Now that New Hampshire has changed from blue to red, will the political reporters and those prevailing Republican elected officials heed the very strong message sent by the voters? What were the voters looking for when they cast their ballots this past November?

When making a choice the informed voter looks at what distinguishes one candidate from another. The rhetoric of speeches, written statements and answers to questions provides some information. The letter behind the name indicates a governing philosophy or view of government reFlected in the platform of the candidate’s party. Thus, the voter expects the prevailing candidates will promote the advertised governing philosophy.

The NH Republican Platform begins, “We, New Hampshire Republicans, are united by our belief in God, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, limited spending, limited taxes, economic opportunity, homeland security, compassion for the truly needy and our conFidence in the strength of families, places of worship, communities and volunteerism.” This appears to reFlect those underlying principles of the Declaration of Independence upon which America was founded, the “unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Later this month, the Republican State Committee will be electing new officers, the most publicity going to the selection of their Party leader. According to the retiring Chairman, John H. Sununu, “the next chairman must have a real commitment to conservative Republican principles.”– those principle articulated in the party platform.

Additionally, reviewing the party website, one might expect…

The NH GOP Chairman Race: Part I

On January 22, 2011 members of the state committee of the New Hampshire Republican Party will gather to conduct party business and elect a new Chairman of the state party for the ensuing two years. It is a two-way race between former NH Gubernatorial candidate Jack Kimball, and the chairman of the Cheshire County Republican Party, Juliana Bergeron.

Before talking about the state GOP chairmanship race, though, I think it’s really important to talk about what’s right with the New Hampshire Republican Party. Its nominal legislative majority was wiped out in 2006 ("nominal" because of the number of RINO’s then in office). That allowed the Democrats full-rein over our state for four years. They wreaked destruction during that time. But by 2010 Republicans had regrouped and came roaring back with huge numbers of new activists, unlimited energy, new and improved activist organizations (such as GraniteGrok.com and the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire), and solid unity. November witnessed a tidal wave victory, bestowing huge GOP majorities in the State House, the State Senate, and the Executive Council. How could the NH GOP have come back that strong in just four short years?

What’s In Your Narrative?

Plenty of people who think they are quite attuned to the echo chamber are spending a good deal of time doing the progressives and RINO’s dirty work.  These are people on the right, so-called insiders who get how the game is played.  Yet again (and again) I find the chorus repeating the message which the left and the media have ingrained in them…every time they hear the bell ring.

"Sarah Palin." Ding!

Independents will never vote for her.  Her resignation as governor is a deal breaker.  You can’t bring social issues into the debate or Republican’s lose the center, she is stupid, inexperienced, too provocative, and on and on and on.

This is the message of the establishment elites on both sides.  It is the growl of a cornered animal that fears for its life.  A life dependent on the growth and power of government.  And it has been picked up and repeated by people who should know better.

He Hasn’t Paid His Dues

It has come to my attention that sometimes having the qualities necessary to get the job done are irrelevant. And that seems to be the opinion of some establishment republicans who have admitted that while Jack Kimball would probably be a great party Chairmen, this sliver of old-guard regulars can’t cast a vote for him because he has not paid his dues.

And Let Me Add This…

Let me add this to Skips post just a short scroll below this one. State GOP candidate for Chairman Juliana Bergeron’s false grass roots mantle (and it is false) is not just an opportunistic stab at tapping populist enthusiasm, she could find herself left behind should she win by simply tilting at the TEA parties windmills.

The Next GOP Chair…Part II

On December 13, I wrote passionately about my desire for Jennifer Horn to run for, and become the next Chair of the New Hampshire GOP.  I was even more serious due to the fact that Juliana Bergeron was the only formally announced candidate.  Julianna is the current chair of the Cheshire County GOP and has … Read more

The Next GOP Chair…

Having endorsed Jennifer Horn for Congress in the past election cycle, and after seeing an unfortunate split of the 2nd District Conservative vote, I, like many others, have wondered where she goes from here.
