Gun Control is Not Greater Safety

Gun Control is Not Greater Safety

Gun control is not greater safety. Everyone knows that Chicago has a problem with gun violence. It is a result which should be the expectation. The city has such strict gun control measures in place. The expectation does not match the actual… The intention of strict gun control is to prevent criminals from possessing firearms … Read more

A Republic, If You Can Keep It

Oxford Dictionary defines a Republic as “a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.” By The People. A Government Of The People, By The People, and For The People.  That’s the whole foundation of this country.  … Read more

Undoing Due Process

The protections in the original Bill of Rights applied only to the federal government.  So, the federal government couldn’t set up an official religion, or punish you for saying something, or disarm you, or search your home without a warrant, and so on.  But the states could do those things.

statue-of-liberty

We Americans are ‘one’, but united as distinct individuals

The inscription on the Statue of Liberty is a challenge to the world amounting to this: Keep your guilds, family names and titles. Keep the all the ideas your governments use to keep people down in your societies. Send us those who you claim cannot make it, those you believe do not add to your … Read more

The Ikea Bill of Rights

I recently read about a psychological phenomenon called ‘the Ikea effect’.  Briefly, if you make something — or even just finish making what someone else has started — you value it more than if it’s already complete when you get it.  The work you put in gives you a sense of ownership.

When I saw that, it occurred to me that people don’t seem to value our Constitution, and in particular, our Bill of Rights, as much as they probably should.  And now I wonder if that’s not at least partly because these were handed to them, already complete.

And if that’s true, what might we do about it?

Negron 10K Money Bomb Update – Help Bring Ann Kuster Home

Your Individual Right to Self Defense

DONATE $10.00 TO PROTECT THE FIRST TEN AMENDMENTS

Writing for the majority in District of Columbia v. Heller, Justice Antonin Scalia observed that,

“Nowhere else in the Constitution does a “right’ attributed to ‘the people’ refer to anything other than an individual right.”

The Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is an individual right protected by the Constitution. It’s time for New Hampshire to send someone to Washington who recognizes that.

Susan Olsen, Bob Clegg, Rick Olson – Negron is Gun Owner’s Choice in CD – 2

Negron Gun Shop

by Susan Olsen, Bob Clegg, and Rick Olson

Not since US Representative Dick Swett of the “Swett Lies” fame has the Second Amendment Constitutionalists felt so betrayed by the actions of a CD 2 Member of Congress. We are very disappointed in Lobbyist-turned-Politician Ann Mclane Kuster, and we need a change. ln a field full of Republican candidates, there is only one clear choice to represent us in the second Congressional District, one clear choice who will defend our 2nd Amendment right. Steve Negron has proven himself to be our number one advocate, a real defender of the entire Bill of Rights.

Steve has a proven track record in the State Legislature voting citizens’ rights every time. He was vital in passing SB12, otherwise known as, Constitutional Carry. The success of this bill had been a long time coming and Steve was instrumental in getting the votes across the finish line.

Kittery Trading Post Protest: Ignorance Rules the Day for the Gun Control Crowd

Today, two pro-gun control organizations decided to protest Kittery Trading Post (KTP) in Kittery, Maine. Their beef with KTP? In the gun shop, semi-automatic rifles are sold. Of course, neither “Resistance Seacoast” or “Kittery Trading Post Action Group” know exactly what a semi-automatic rifle is but that doesn’t stop them from trying to have certain ones banned.

Of course, the fact that a semi-automatic rifle isn’t an “assault weapon” doesn’t even cross their minds. The only thing they seek to push is their gun control agenda. From their event site:

Government rules by sheer naked force…

Glenn Reynolds, Tennesse law professor, father of Instapundit, interviewed Russ Roberts, an economics professor at George Mason University, recently.  It’s a fairly lengthy (but very interesting) podcast and the talk shifted to discussion of a NY Slimes piece from last year on why the Constitution was really of little value to today’s hipster progressives.  To whet your appetite:

REYNOLDS: Here’s the problem with public officials — because that’s really [Seidman’s] audience — deciding to ignore the Constitution: If you’re the president, if you’re a member of Congress, if you are a TSA agent, the only reason why somebody should listen to what you say, instead of horsewhipping you out of town for your impertinence, is because you exercise power via the Constitution. If the Constitution doesn’t count, you don’t have any legitimate power. You’re a thief, a brigand, an officious busybody, somebody who should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail for trying to exercise power you don’t possess.

Response to Nancy Parsons Questions about Objections to Obama’s Gun Control Policies

Perhaps other people wonder about the questions in Nancy Parson’s letter of January 18, 2013 in the Laconia Daily Sun.  (See:  http://issuu.com/dailysun/docs/lds1-18-13 ) My beliefs are based on the following: True safety requires consideration of reality not wishes. If anyone is hurt during a crime, it should be the criminal not the intended victim.  Criminals will ignore gun laws and get the guns they want.  Lack of accurate information causes many people to irrationally fear guns in the hands of law abiding Americans.

First.  I lived most of my life outside of New Hampshire in states with very restrictive gun laws so initially it felt strange to see armed civilians.  All those other states have much higher crime rates than New Hampshire, and I feel much safer in New Hampshire where criminals aren’t assured of helpless victims.

Second.  A common question among people who know nothing about guns is about “how many bullets does one need?”  The answer is, it depends.

Anyone who thinks you only need one or two bullets should go to a shooting range (there is one in Belmont) and shoot at a target (they’ll help you).  Then consider how hard it is to hit a flying bird or a running, jumping and turning animal.

Self-defense is another matter.  To an unpredictably moving target, add in surprise, fear, perhaps terror, attempts to corral and calm children, calling the police for help, perhaps an angry attacker shooting at you, and our natural hesitancy to shoot another human.
