We’ve given out no ‘Grok Endorsement for the General Election this year.  In fact, the subject didn’t even come up between the primary and now.  But that doesn’t mean that each individual Grokster can’t make their own personal endorsements (and if they have the time….hint, hint) here on the front page – I’d be interested in seeing them where they can intersect with mine nearer to the top of the ticket.

But this year, this cycle, the bottom of the ticket is MUCH more important than ever before.  As Grokster Susan is wont to say (heck most of us are): screw DC, save NH.  And those that we can hold more accountable (after all, this IS New Hampshire – we can walk down the street and yell at them if we so desire (heh!)) are at the bottom of the ticket – THESE are the folks that I believe can help us save NH more than those at the top.  Why?

As we saw this session, those higher in the pyramid have more resources that allows them to ignore us.  How responsive, for instance, were the NH State Senate Rogue Republicans?  As we saw in the Primary, they had enough $$$$ to wave the back of their collective hands at the grassroots (remember, GRINDING an ax is also SHARPENING an ax).  The close the candidate / politician is to you, the more you can have of their ear.  They also know that you are more able to bring about corrective action if they stray.  But I digress.

So in order of importance (that is to say, from the Bottom up) here is how I am planning on voting tomorrow:

TOP 10 REASONS TO VOTE DEMOCRAT (not!)

#10. I vote Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my German Shepherd.

#9. I vote Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon at 15% isn’t.

#8. I vote Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

#7. I vote Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

#6. I vote Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I am also thankful that we have a 911 service that gets police to your home in order to identify your body after a home invasion.

The spring of 2014 seems a billion soundbites away, a billion being a gross underestimate but you get my point.  April 2014.  The month in which the wife of the President did us all a favor and stood before a camera holding a sign that read “#BringBackOurGirls.”

Michelle Obama was working the latest media-splash rope-line.  Reports indicated that a group called Boko Haram had kidnapped over 200 girls and was holding them hostage.   Ironically, Michelle Obama had been holding tens of millions of girls school lunches hostage.  Maybe the sign was how she chose to make herself feel better?

She must have succeeded.  Boko Haram and the kidnappings have long since vanished from the headlines on the Democrat propaganda reports–see also the evening 60 minutes hate news–but not because circumstances changed.

Today Granite State Forward made the claim that “thousands” were in attendance at the Hillary Clinton event yesterday in Nashua.  GSF is an arm of the New Hampshire Democrat Party – they feign to be ‘grassroots’.  Apparently they didn’t get the memo from the Fire Marshall who estimated more like 700.  Pretty pathetic showing for a potential Presidential candidate who hasn’t visited the Granite State since 2008.   On top of that probably half the people there were from out-of-state (Many license plates from Massachusetts and New York).

Today the New Hampshire Democrat Party held an event featuring former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. It is the first time Clinton has been to the Granite State since ending her reign in the State Department. The event was held at Nashua Community College in Nashua and was a “Get Out The Vote” event for Senator Shaheen, Governor Hassan, Representatives Shea-Porter and Kuster.

Clinton arrived over an hour late due to a flight delay and despite the freezing weather and crazy winds, protesters stuck around to be sure Clinton got their messages. One of the biggest was, of course, Benghazi. Clinton hadn’t been to the Granite State since 2008. This was her first campaign visit in the Granite State. Bill Clinton headlined the Jefferson Jackson event a few weeks ago in Manchester (there were also protesters in attendance). After Clinton’s deplorable “What difference does it make?” comment during congressional testimony, not too many Americans are thrilled with her behavior.

There were several protesters who were there specifically to target Shaheen and Hassan for not holding town halls. And yes, the NH GOP chicken was also in attendance with a new sign “Jeanne Shaheen too chicken to campaign with Obama.” This after Shaheen was asked in an interview if she would have Obama campaign with her. She claimed he was too busy in Washington. Of course, Obama has been campaigning and fundraising with other candidates across the country. Shaheen votes with Obama and still supports him yet seems to understand that Granite Staters are not happy with Obama in general.

At the beginning of this year I wrote an article with regard to Medicaid fraud and New Hampshire’s pursuit of expanding it; Medicaid and fraud go hand in hand.  (Government programs are built for fraud.) In the course of that article I cited recent charges by the NH AG against a Dr. Nicholas Marshall, an Orthodontist in Manchester.  Marshall was charged with 45 counts of Medicaid fraud.  Dr. Marshall has been found innocent of all charges.

In a trial that might have significant consequences for Medicaid in New Hampshire, a Manchester orthodontist was cleared of 45 felony counts of Medicaid fraud by a Concord jury last week.

In my original remarks I suggested that this might be an act of theater by the NH AG”s office.  I also hinted that Marshall was probably guilty of something–because the system continues to be gamed to make it nearly impossible to be innocent.  It is just a matter of if and when you are charged, why, and by whom.  Dr. Marshall was found not guilty, but the system is still messed up, and the NH AG’s office is still suspect.

And yes, there are those in the welfare class that DO believe your money (MY money!) should be given to them to the point of being a Right – the de facto fulfillment of FDR’s intent with his Second Bill of Rights.  I know that, as I have said before, I had bunches of them standing around in my daycare lobby kvetching about it.  It was always about how to getting onto more government programs – and living better.

Meanwhile, as money is taking from the working class, we are told “it is the price we pay for living in a society” – and living worse.

I’ve had to use the safety net a couple of times during my career, especially during the time of IT technology disruptions when newer replaced older technologies.  I NEVER felt “it is due me”; I never felt “hey, I supported all those other people – now they MUST support me”.  Rather, it was “how the heck do I get a REAL check instead of this govt check”?

I felt that I wasn’t pulling my own weight.
