Breaking: AG’s office roughs up a Poll Challenger, then AG Investigator assaults him and blames him for resisting arrest

by

Just got a phone call from Joe Barton who was an official poll watcher (signed slip by NH GOP CHair Jennifer Horn).  He tried to challenge someone that did not have ID, did not sign an affidavit, and then was allowed to vote anyways as the supervisor of the checklist said “no problem – I know him”.  Joe then said to me that [either] the supervisor of the checklist or moderator has to sign an affidavit on how he knows that guy – and didn’t.  The ID-less person was then allowed to vote.   Joe brought that to the moderator’s attention and the latter said he’d call the AG office.    <forgetting a detail here> then reported that the AG’s office said it was OK.

Joe called the AG’s office to complain and an AG investigator came out.  Joe said let’s go to the town council office to talk and then the investigator started to challenge Joe  as to what authority he had in being a challenger even though Joe showed him the sheet signed by Horn.  After a discussion, Joe said “we’re not getting anywhere, I’m leaving” and started out to go back down to fetch his iPad down on the voting floor.  In the process of going downstairs, they passed the Exit door but Joe kept going to get his iPad,  the guy (name “Favreau”?) grabbed Joe’s arm and threw him out the door and slammed him against the wall.

Joe deliberately went down to the fetal position so as not do to anything and this guy was punching and kicking him – Joe started yelling for help.  Newmarket police arrived and then Joe found himself charged with resisting arrest and assault even though Joe never responded (and has a black eye).  He was never told that he would be arrested nor that he could not go back down to fetch his personal and private property when Favereau, without warning, assaulted him by throwing him out the Exit door.
Joe is the Newmarket Republican Town Chair (that I remember) – so given that GraniteGrok already caught an AG staffer housing one of the infamous “drive by voters” and cleared itself of wrong doing, how are we to take this anecdote of how the AG is “doing its job” – is this like an Anti_Republican Eric Holder move?
Breaking and more to follow.
