Last night, I put this post up concerning the Occupiers bust of a May Day “general strike”; where there were a number of reports of violence (given their tacit acceptance among them of the “perpetually angry Anarchist” mobsters who respect, well, not many.  In that post was this tubba of a ‘tude with a snare drum who thought it would be absolutely dandy to use a small female cop’s head as a drumstick:

President Obama – a Bin Laden lesson: real heros don’t like the limelight

Real heros don’t like to be called “hero”.  They look at what they’ve done with the attitude of “just doing my job” and sometimes have a hard time even accepting thanks for their actions for which many of us are thankful.  After all, they reason, we signed up to do what we do – we simply do what we said we’d do. Even still, I will often thank a veteran for their service (or a family member who has (or had) someone in our Armed Forces as well) – it is deserved.  Yet, when people thank me for the service of the Eldest and the Youngest, I feel embarrassed to a degree in that I have done nothing – they are the ones that risked themselves for us all.

President Obama, that is a lesson you have not yet learned – to put away the “I” and “Me” and “My” words:

Instead, you should have been overusing the words “those heros” or “our heros” and give credit where credit was REALLY due – but you didn’t.  You have taken credit, major credit, for making the decision and for the success of the raid that ended up with OBL dead.  Well, thanks for saying “Go” – but that should have been viewed as just part of your job, too.  You risked nothing, except a political standing.  The SEALS and the air crews – they risked it all for their nation and for meting out justice to one who justice was delayed for far too long.

Damn. There is one hell of a row going on at the excellent RLCNH email discussion list over the proposed state constitutional amendment regarding education—CACR12—which, one way or another, will put the responsibility

It's about educating the next generation, not expanding government....

for implementing and funding a “state system” of education in the hands of the state legislature, not the towns (where it has traditionally and historically resided).

More importantly, the battle is heating up amongst the best, smartest, and most activist political players in the state, i.e. the movement conservatives, the libertarians, the Tea Partiers, the Constitutionalists, the libertarian-conservatives, and others.

Bedford students say issue is local control, reads todays’ Union Leader Headline. Over one-hundred Bedford High School students showed up at yesterday’s hearing to oppose HB 1403. Amidst cries of outrage over interference with, “local control”, leading the crowd was a young fellow named Michael Courtney, a Junior at Bedford High School.  The young master Courtney has undertaken the yolk of political activism and created a YouTube Video advocating the opposition of this bill.

A New Front in The War on Women – Do Liberal Chicks Dig Polygamy?

Piggy-backing off of Tim’s post on Mark Steyn’s recent article, I think the polygamy thing (which Tim does not mention) is worth visiting–repeatedly of course–just to remind everyone of the kind of campaign this has been and will continue to be.  Nothing coming from the Obama side will be relevant or substantive, everything utter nonsense.  And nonsense with the same lack of sourcing on the Democrat side as we’ve seen in everything they do.

This quote comes from Crane Brinton, courtesy of my dog-eared copy of Russel Kirk’s The Conservative Mind, which includes the other two definitions Brinton distinguished; the conservative of the dictionary, who accepts things as they are, and the conservative who, contemptuous of his changing times, idealizes the past.

The Left, be they either the dogmatic or the pragmatic genus– the latter being a rhetorical narrative designed by the dogmatic left to confuse people into thinking that the Progressives are not actually all a bunch of commie-pinko wealth-levelers obsessed with socialist/Marxist redistribution, would like the majority of people most likely to be fooled by the word pragmatism to think all conservatives are the sort that are contemptuous of changing times, and idealize the past.

On the contrary.  Most of us are…”The man (or woman) who works out a consistent and timeless generalization applying to the behavior of men in politics.”

Put another way, evil exists in all mens hearts (yes, women too) and without a moral or at least limiting counterweight (which no government of man will ever provide or sustain willingly) even the most well meaning public servant, left unchecked, can find a path to tyranny, and that history has already taught us every lesson we need to know to prevent it.

Concord Monitor says more food stamps needed, assumes Obama re-election

If President Obama is re-elected, as the April 25, 2012 Concord Monitor editorial “Cutting food stamps to feed the rich” apparently assumes, then it is right, the Ryan budget won’t provide all the food stamps, unemployment, and other assistance that will be needed.

The Concord Monitor goes on to pooh pooh the idea of “Cadillac driving welfare queens” and undeserving welfare recipients.  Some of us are alert enough to have noticed media reports of “Cadillac driving welfare queens” who have been re-located to prison, and we are not naïve enough to think they have all been found.

Five myths about conservative voters – Frank Luntz

Frank Luntz is often on Fox News – given this Republican Primary season, he was on a lot doing his focus groups during the televised debates where the members of the groups were able to interactively “spin their dials” to indicate various levels of “like / dislike” with what the candidates were saying – it was interesting to see the differences of what “turned the switch on” between Republicans and Democrats.

Well, he has a quick read article in the Washington Post on what Democrats might believe about Conservatives – and would be wrong according to this pollster:

Five myths about conservative voters

1. Conservatives care most about the size of government.
2. Conservatives want to deport all illegal immigrants.
3. They worship Wall Street.
4. Conservatives want to slash Social Security and Medicare.
5. Conservatives don’t care about inequality.

Go read his explanations on each of those myths.  My take?

Government today is expected to do way to much – and in most of what it tries to do, it fails the “excellence” test.  My belief is that a limited government, much decreased in size (especially at the Federal level), would have a better, a far better, chance of being best in breed if the number of services were limited.  Take those services that Society would have a hard time in doing (national defense is the best example of such a good public good) and have Government do them – but have the accountability to ensure they work and work well.   If you disagree, reread this.

As we ramp up for the onset of the Political season, there are no shortage of the endless examples of those seeking public office working feverishly to define themselves to curry votes with core constituencies. This aspect is never more stark than with gun groups, a favorite target of Republicans and conservatives.

As I roll through my Facebook account, politicians trolling for favor are never more obvious anywhere than to Gun people. Those of us in the Second Amendment Advocacy column truly appreciate the positions taken. We can remain confident that those running for office are on our side. And we do appreciate it.
