“Bork!” Kagen

Republicans need to take the advice of democrats, and “Bork” Elena Kagen.  That’s what they would do. They’d ignore anything even remotely moderate, turn a giant lens on everything else, and burn a hole in her soul.  They would fashion a narrative, go on television, phone, write, blog, call, march, and shout until veins popped out of their tiny little heads.

And let’s be honest.  While most Republicans want to use their parliamentary obligation of advice and consent as an excuse to avoid the controversy—and lets be honest all the grief involved in being that angry for that long–they actually have a more legitimate Constitutional obligation to the people than to let the president have his nominee as a matter of protocol.  They have also sworn to protect the Constitution from the politicized oligarchy of judicial tyranny that Kagen’s ideology represents.  She is a domestic threat with a 25 year shelf life.  That’s almost three decades of attacks on property rights, the right to bear arms, political speech, the right of the unborn, softening the borders, and endless attacks on the moral and social fabric of the nation, just to name a few

So the Snowe’s and the Collins’ and all the rest need to ignore the illusion that is being laid out before them, and take a long hard look at this particular moment in history. If ever there was a time to fight it is now.  And if ever their was a shield to stand behind it is the right of states and individuals and the oath of every Senator to protect and defend them from the very kind of government Elena Kagen would leave in her wake.  The obligation to the Constitution, the republic, and the people comes before the obligation to consent to presidential court appointments.  Bork! Kagen.
